I've grown very fond of Gwibber, since the introduction of F13 as a Twitter-client. However since 5 daysGwibber is no longer updating the timeline. As the problem maintained, I also installed Pino and Twitux.But they seem to have the same problem. I've tried to uninstall and re-install them, but that didn't solve my problem.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with NFS. I'm trying to mount /home, which is on the server, to the client nodes. The server is currently running FC14 (64 bit) and I'm in the process of updating all the clients nodes to the same OS. Currently, all the client nodes are running FC8 (32 bit) and are capable of mounting /home on the server. However, the one client node that I have updated to FC14 is having problems mounting /home. I can ssh to the node with no problem however I get the following message:
Could not chdir to home directory /home/myuserid: Permission denied. Now, if I excute the following command: "sudo mount -a" I get no errors and now I can see my home directory.
I just got my new laptop (Acer Timeline 3810T) but I'm having trouble installing F11. The specs are: Intel Core 2 Duo processor, SU9400; Intel GMA 4500MHD; 4GB memory; no CD/DVD drive.I'm trying to install from a live cd in a USB drive using this link URl...I can boot without problems, but then when I try to start Fedora I get a screen with a pattern of orange and black colors which flickers for one second or less and then just a black screen. I cannot verify the live cd either, I get the same black screen.
It obviously looks like a video issue but I'm not sure how to solve it. By the way, there's a long thread about installing Ubuntu 9.04 at URL... and there are several known issues, but I didn't see anything like this. I'll try to install Ubuntu later and see how it goes, but I'd really like to be able to get Fedora working...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to "convert" my cousin with Slackware somehow. Her laptop is an Acer Timeline 3810T. But i'm having some problem with the hotkey fn+f5. F5 works, but fn+f5 (should have been XF86Display) doesn't. It doesn't generate any acpi nor x event as i checked (on slackware at least). BIOS upgraded but wouldn't fix, searched but couldn't find any talk about this.I wonder if anyone had experienced the same problem. Hope i could fix this else i probably must install XP (if this was mine, i probably would be fine with xrandr though :P)

I can import my files no problem, they all show up in the preview pane, but when I drag them to the timeline track the don't add. I am running ubuntu 9.10, I installed openshot following the instructions on the openshot webpage.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a brandnew Acer Travelmate Timeline X (13"). I do not really know if this is the right topic for my problem. But here it comes: The Acer uses a special smart battery with special chips in it controling the powermanagement of the battery and the system. In general there is a kernel module to handle this (sbs). But for me this does not work.I am using Squeeze and it does not recognize the battery. It always acts like being on AC power. If I unplugg the AC it runs with the battery till it is empty. But the ACPI can not recognize the battery and can not read how much lifetime it has. I tried the reassambling method. But this method does not work for me. Nevertheless I think the reassambling method does not run because there is no more developing on it because of the kernel modul.
What can I do? Will I have to wait till a new workaround of sbs comes out, which can handle my battery? I read about a BIOS hack that disables the smart battery functions. Should I try this? But I am not really firm in that kind of stuff and I will loose the guarantee. Has anyone got an idea?
I want to install OpenSUSE 11.2 on my Acer TimeLine 3810TZ which has no DVD Drive and it reports that it's written it A-OK.So I go to my laptop, enter the BIOS to give priority boot to the USB (It has Three USB entries, USB-CDROM, USB-HDD, USB-FDD, so I just put them all before any HDDs, figuring it'd cycle through them) and reboot with my stick in one of the USB slots.
And then it hangs on the BIOS. It lights up my USB Stick's activity light like crazy, but it never actually leaves the BIOS screen (POST screen). Any idea what's going on? I'm kind of stuck with Windows Vista, and we all know how bad that is
on my new laptop Acer TravelMate TimelineX 8172T, I have some sound problems. I do have sound from the laptop speakers, but plugging in the headphones doesn't mute the main speakers, and also does not give any sound on the headphones. I am running Kubuntu 10.10 64 bit here, and any hint how to solve this would be very welcome indeed.Alsa is version 1.0.23, but alsamixer doesn't show any devices. It only says "Device: HDA Intel" and "Chip: Conexant CX20585", but the elements list is empty and no volume sliders are shown.

The Network Manager shows (under Wired Networks) ifupdown(eth0) - I've never seen the "ifupdown" here. Wireless shows as disabled.
When I boot I see a few of these:
But I get No DHCPOFFERS received. So, Wireless is disabled.
Twitter is working with my Gwibber but Facebook is working.It just shows blank on the twitter stream.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust an FYI for anyone who may be having this particular problem. A short while back, I was trying to attach a picture to a Twitter post, and dropped my network connection. No big deal...connection came back, and things went on. Next time I launched Choqok, it popped up a message saying "Server Error: This method requires authentication". It was puzzling, and didn't appear to impact my use...until I went to send a direct message, and it would give that error and crash. After quitting Choqok, the file (/tmp/ksocket-user/klauncherXXXXXX.slave-socket file) was still present. Deleting that file manually cleared the error up. I've seen this mentioned in a couple of other forums, but none with a solution posted.
If anyone else has that error, and this method resolves it, please let us know. I'm using openSUSE 11.4, but it should apply to any version/distro of Linux using Choqok.

I have cups, which I don't recall installing but was there guess its a default. So I added a printer on my server, that was on a 10.0.1.1 block, added it as lpd://10.0.1.1/lab3printer. Ok that worked and printed from my server, but my problem is when other machines try to add the printer. I continue getting this problem

On the computer it was added as printer lpd://10.0.11.25/alberto because my server has that IP and printer well named it alberto. I followed what this said with the xined.d [URL].
I'm setting up a network for a school. The network has 11 client computers (windows xp) and a server (fedora 10) All I need to do is have a share for all the children to use. (this I did by adding each client to the workgroup specified on samba then I just map the drive). The issue turns out to be that I have over 300 users. The users don't always use the same computer therefore I need the users to be registered on all 11 clients. How can I do this? I have been searching and I've not gotten anywhere. How can I add the computers to a domain instead of a workgroup? What can I use?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've done this before, maybe ten times. This time is different. I don't know why, but Samba will not allow any clients to connect.
I've done:
- installed samba
- setup the samba shares
- have a samba user/passwd
- authentication = users
- punched in the samba stuff for firewall
- workgroup is set right
What the heck? I cannot get any client to connect. Not even the server machine can connect to itself through a client. What am I missing here???

I removed a whole lot of comment lines in the config file.
In one of the threads I learnt that deleting the keyrings and setting the password to blank will help me escape the password pop up for the social broadcaster and so I did the same,now a new problem, every time I refresh the timeline the "Broadcast Accounts" (preferences) appears not one but 3 and this keeps pilling up as the update continues every 10 minutes, ITS REALLY IRRITATING that every time I refresh the timeline 3 windows appear and I have to close all of them pls look into it as soon as possible.And on another note: I posted a thread on it but I didn't seem to get a single response...in GWIBBER it doesn't show the MAIN TIMELINE FOR MY IDENTI.CA account. it just shows me the replies that people have posted to my status update....if it is possible get a new social broadcast client for Ubuntu GWIBBER certainly doesn't appeal not at its current form.
