The blueman applet is killing my processor from time to time. The crazy part is that I do not have blue tooth installed in this system. It appears to be a bug upstream and looks like it has been reported but in the mean time is there a way to disable blueman?

Bluetoothd is running.
bash-4.1# pgrep bluetoothd
25394
But when I start blueman-applet the icon on the toolbar is like white with a red 'x' in the centre of it, which doesn't seem right. I'm using fluxbox as my WM so don't know if that's the reason, but blueman isn't responding when I try to setup the device with gui (blueman-applet). My groups for my user are.

Hci0 is up.

I'm running slackware current. Blueman works perfectly, except for DUN. I can connect to DUN service, but I don't know to open the connection. I've tried to find help on the blueman website, and I've I've found this page [URL].
Where says to install plugins to use DUN. Before I screw up my blueman configuration .. those plugin are already included in the blueman package? I can't find where to download them. If they are already included, what I've to do to use DUN?

I am using openSuSE 11.1/KDE3.5.10.No matter what I try, I cannot get kbluetooth to work. The BT icon appears greyed out in the toolbar. If I select it, a Konqueror screen appears with the error message "The process for the bluetooth protocol died unexpectedly."I can communicate with BT devices OK using the command line tools (hcitool, etc).I have found numerous old references to this problem from when 11.1 was first released, but no solutions. I cannot believe that this is still "broken".I would be EXTREMELY grateful for any help to fix this, as it has become an urgent problem.

Konsole does not respond to the following keys on my stand-along usb
keypad:
rightarrow,leftarrow,uparrow,downarrow,home,end,pageup,pagedown
Both of the other terminal emulators on slack do recognize
these keys (xterm and xfce terminal emulator).
I can also confirm that xev, if launched from konsole will recognize
these keys.
Konsole is my terminal emulator of choice and it is really nice to
be able to use my left hand for navigation and command retrieval.
Also, keypad arrows work in X apps.

I am trying to connect some USB 3.0 HDD's up to a Via Labs USB 3.0 Hub. When I type 'lsusb', it only lists the hub and not the devices. If I plug in a USB 2.0 device to the hub, it can be recognized. If I plug the USB 3.0 device directly into the system, it is also recognized.
In further investigating, I typed 'lsusb -v' and found that the USB 3.0 part of the hub has an error - under where the Hub Descriptor information is supposed to be, it says "** UNRECOGNIZED: 06 30 00 00 02 00 can't get hub descriptor: Broken Pipe"
So that explains why the drive can't be recognized. My question is: Is this a Linux problem or a Via Labs problem? I am running Slackware 13.1.
Is there somewhere on the system I can make Linux recognize this properly?

I recently updated from Fedora 9 to Fedora 12. Everything else works fine, but the situation with Fedora automatically recognised new devices when plugged in has changed to the exact opposite. Under Fedora 9, all devices I plugged in were always automatically recognised, whether I liked it or not. Under Fedora 12, nothing is ever automatically recognised any more. Whenever I plug something in, the system just ignores it. If they devices turn up as block device descriptors in /dev, I can manually mount them and access them through the mount points. Otherwise, I can't do squat. Now I can only access my digital camera by manually mounting it and copying the files. This works, but is cumbersome. Under Fedora 9, I used to be able to use GPhoto to download the pictures via PTP. Not any more. GPhoto acts as if the camera wasn't even there. So does F-Spot. What has happened? Have I missed installing some kernel module or service or something?

there's a program I have that doesn't really install, you extract it to its folder, cd into it, then ./filename to start it. It works fine on my Debian install. But when I do this on Slackware, it just says 'no such file or directory'. The file most definitely is there, since ls shows it. the filename is only three letters long so I know I'm not mistyping it. I've tried in user and su. Any idea why it won't run?

For those that use Virtualbox on their slackware host and have a windows (xp) guest running. I have tried various settings for sound (Alsa, PulseAudio), the AC97 drivers are installed in the Windows xp guest os, but there is no sound and there is an unknown audio device (in the windows device manager). If I remove the AC97 drivers and use the soundblaster16 drivers in the Vbox settings there is no unknown sound device, but there's still no sound. why I can't get sound working?

I installed slackware 13.1 x86_64 bit with multilib, and its been about a month already, I'm really enjoying slackware but I am being troubled with my nvidia card, and I need to get my 3D acceleration working. And I've been looking around the net for information and kept on trying to make my nvidia card to work but to no avail. I cant get X to start, once I put in a xorg.conf stating to use the nvidia card. After troubleshooting for almost 2 weeks and now at my wits end, I now come humbly looking for help in linuxquestions slackware community forum.I've installed nvidia 64 bit kernel, drivers from slackbuilds (version 256.44). The laptop model I'm trying to get it working is an -ASUS K52J Intel Core i3 2.40Ghz with 2GB RAM and with an Nvidia Geforce 310M with 1GB dedicated VRAM.

I've just installed Slack 13.1, this was a "clean" install. All seems to be working well except for the dvd-rw, but this is a show stopper, if it doesn't get resolved in a few days I'll have to go back to 13.0.
The drive is detected correctly, but if a cd is mounted it gets errors, and is unable to set it up (it doesn't appear on the desktop).
Here is the info from dmesg:

After the new year I updated my -current to the latest, and now mutt doesn't recognize my mailcap setting for text/calendar attachments. In ~/.mailcap, I have
text/calendar;korganizer -m %s
and in mutt, .ics attachments are recognised as mime type text/calendar. It's always worked like that. Now, however, mutt is just paging the .ics attachment to the screen.
I've checked the content of all other mailcap files listed in mutt's mailcap path, and ~/.mailcap is the only one with an entry for text/calendar (in fact, ~/.mailcap is the only file in the path that exists). Mutt does recognise my image mime types (eg. image/jpeg;mutt_bgrun geeqie -t %s).
I can import the .ics attachment by hand by saving it to /tmp and running 'korganizer -m /tmp/file' manually. That takes a slight moment to respond (KDE bloat? :-)). When I try opening it from mutt, there is no delay before it pages the file, so I don't think it's even trying korganizer first.
I can't remember changing any configs recently, which is why I'm suspecting something in a recent Slackware update must have affected it.

Long time Slack user, thought I would try to update my old laptop (Toshiba Satellite with AMD K6-2 333 MHz, 128 MB RAM, 40 GB hard drive) from 10.2 to 13.37 in celebration of the newest version :-)
By update, I mean a complete wipe and reinstall, just to be clear.
So 10.2 runs well, everything looks shiny (XFCE of course) but when I try to install 13.37 I run into trouble. I figured out to boot with huge.s instead of hugesmp.s, but when I try to run 'setup' I get an error that says I have no partitions. mkay, I try fdisk (or cfdisk), but I get literally NO response - no error, no nothing but a return to the command promt. It is exactly as if fdisk does not recognize there is a hard drive there at all.
I boot back into 10.2,check the BIOS, everything looks fine, I have a drive mounted at /dev/hda1, swap at /dev/hda3. Are there some additional parameters I should be booting with? Does it matter that the hard drive is ATA?

I have had a Supermicro X7DCL-3 motherboard based machine, running CentOS 5.2 x86_64, recently upgraded to 5.3.Strangely enough, although I must have installed the 5.2 using DVD disk, the running system does not show the DVD drive. The machine was not used very much so I noticed that only today, after the update. There is no trace of it in 'dmesg', thera are no /dev/cd* and/or /dev/dvd* devices. The IDE controller is IT8213 (as shown by 'lspci'). In 5.2 kernel (2.6.18-92.el5-x86_64) lspci says "unknown device". I have checked the /usr/src/kernels/*/.config files and both kernels (5.2 and 2.6.18-128.el5-x86_64 of 5.3) seam to have the support for that controller added into the kernel:CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IT821X=yAny idea why it is not working? The Supermicro has apparently noticed this also as their OS compatibility chart lists the IDE interface for that motherboard as supported up to RHEL 5.1 but not for 5.2.

I'm attempting to upgrade a server from Slackware 10.2 to Slackware 13.0. When I boot with the Slackware 13.0 Install DVD, fdisk will not recognize the RAID5 array; it complains about being unable to seek on /dev/sda. The system is a SuperMicro motherboard with onboard SCSI and an Adaptec 2005S Zero-Channel-RAID card; it works fine in Slackware 10.2 using the dpt_i20 driver.
