Server :: Ssh Connection (using Quest Putty) From Windows?
Apr 14, 2011
I'm trying to do a ssh connection (using Quest Putty) from Windows to Linux. As linux are joined to Active Directory, is possible to do a SSO (using kerberos). If I connect from linux to linux using ssh, it works fine. If I connect form Windows (Win7) to Linux using Quest Putty or Centrify Putty, an error is displayed:
Code:
C:Program FilesCentrifyCentrify PuTTY>Plink.exe -A -K -v serverl001.jed
Looking up host "serverl001.buss.red"
Connecting to 10.16.44.234 port 22
Server version: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.4
We claim version: SSH-2.0-PuTTY_Release_0.60_(Centrify_GSS_1.4)
I can't connect to my Suse server by ssh (using putty) cause console shows me this message: connection reset by peer some times, other times It let me type the user but when I going to enter the password It reset the connection. What I did?? Reinstalled the ssh, but everything was same, the problem still appears. So I reinstalled the Operating System, now but when I going to connect to server the problem appears again! What could be the cause of this behavior??
I have 2 computer: 1 computer install ubuntu v9.10, in this computer already installed openssh-server and openssh-client, and 1 computer install windows. In computer with windows , i used putty connect to computer with ubuntu, but i can't connect. I don't understand what's error. In the Putty , i configured: IP : IP address of computer Ubuntu. Port 22 Connection Type SSH
This is error: "Network Error: Software caused connection abort"
In computer with windows, i can ping computer with ubuntu and in computer with ubuntu i can ping computer with windows.
Recently, Putty keeps intermittently freezing and locking me out of the system (i.e. I can't stop the session and I can't re-login via ssh again until I've gone to the machine and pressed "reset").
So far, it mostly occurs when opening a file in VIM, but it does sometimes occur when using tab to auto-fill a file or directory name at the command prompt.
This app embeds putty and allows you to save ssh and telnet connections (including post login commands). You can also save the connections and sort them however you like. It's great for organizing linux clustered servers etc... Tabs are also a plus (yes I know konsole does this part as well)So to the point at last. I finally upgraded to OpenSuSe 11.2 and I was looking for an app that does much the same thing.
when I try to connect via PuTTY from a windows machine I get " PuTTY Fatal error connection timed out. I try to do so via a router redirecting IPadr:86 to local adr:22 on the Linux machine.
I seems not to be a routing issue since the router is setup to redirect apparently correctly.
Well I have stopped iptables and selinux is disabled. The sshd deamon is running. I can logon with ssh locally "ssh webcamATlocal adr".
I am trying to play my audio files at work from my home computer over ssh. The computer I use at work is windows and so I use Putty to make that connection. However when I mplayer file.mp3, the file starts to play, but I am assuming it's playing on my home computer.....so, I am wondering, how do I forward the audio to my remote computer?
and no, can't use a CD... I work in a car with no CD player, and the computer is a Panasonic Toughbook with no CD-ROM... options are limited.
I had Ubuntu guest installed on VMWare. The Host OS is Windows 7. But now I want to migrate it to Virtual Box. I migrated it, but it does not allow PUTTY to connect it. It says "connection refused". On VMWare on same host and same guest, PUTTY connection is successful. But it does not allow on Virtual Box. It says connection refused. Both on VMWare and Virtual Box, the guest Ubuntu is configured using NAT networking.
Can you find my blind spot? I had PuTTY up & running untill I did a reinstall of Fedora13.I can ping 192.168.1.163 fine. SELinux is disabled. Firewall is default (SSH allowed on p22).I have just disabled the firewall with same result)

I researched a long while and could not find an answer to these problems, so here I am. I have a debian server running on my home network. I have it running LAMP and it has a live website.
I have samba running and share files with my windows 7 machine, so they do connect.
When i try to use putty it always refuses the connection.SQLyog tells me off too, but it only cays it cannot connect.
I was checking into SSH, since that is how they are both trying to connect, but I can not find adequate info online for my problem.
I have debian lenny running, I was pretty sure it has ssh running, but i couldnt locate 'sshd'
Is SSH on there by a different name or do I need to install the service.
(ps - getting samba running was a nightmare, but i think it was windoze fault, i tried setting up the debian machine exactly how the guides said to do, but it never could connect and denied passwords constantly, then the next day after a few windows reboots had happened, all of the sudden it worked. Don't know what the deal was there. Could that be instrumental? Sorry I am a web dev and not a networker so this stuff is not my forte.)
i have to install app server on VM of Linux box. am able to connect Linux box via puTTY and Xmanager as root user. but am not able to connect as a normal user. in Xmanager i see network error. In puTTY console gets disappear
This is a slightly desperate plea...I want to migrate my network (its only a small domestic one) to IPv6. Two reasons for this: one is that it will have to be done sometime in the next 5 years, probably, and two is that I want to use the exercise as a training starter. OK, so here's the problem:
I don't want to just run IPv6 internally, I would like to run it right up to the edge of my network, that is, to the customer edge (CE) router, and I would like that CE router to be able to run dual stack, so that my bastion system can talk IPv6 to it, it can talk IPv4 to my ADSL-connected ISP, and when my ISP is IPV6 enabled, my router will be able to talk IPv6 on both sides. I have been trying to identify a SOHO-class router that will allow me to do this, and have pretty much drawn a blank.
I emailed the usual suspects: D-Link, Linksys, Belkin, Zyxel, Buffalo, Netgear to explain my needs, and of that crowd, Zyxel were the only ones to respond, and they said they didn't have anything. So the question is: Have any of you come across a SOHO router that delivers the following: IPv6, ADSL, Wireless (b/g...n would be nice but not essential) and 4 ports? They've been using IPv6 in Japan and other places for a while if my information is correct, there *must* be a router to do it, even if I have to import it!
I am trying to setup a putty session to putty from one Ubuntu machine to another. I know how to setup to connect to the machine from Windows and I am using the same settings for the one I am trying on the Ubuntu machine but it fails to connect. It fails immediately so I believe that putty is not able to find ssh. Is there some configuring that I need to do.
Is it possible to configure PuTTY to have me some nice colour scheme like vim's desert?
I'm an PuTTY user under Windows and my login shell is tcsh. The current PuTTY theme setting is a very boring "black background and white character" user interface.
If it is possible, could you illustrate a little bit about how it works?
I've goolged this issue, but it seem both client side and server side settings are involved in changing PuTTY's appearance, which makes me quite confused.
I am new to linux and I purchased a Linux Dedicated server, however my experience for Linux is 0 and my pc's at home are Windows 7. I am trying to install TightVNC server on my linux dedicated server but I can currently only access it through Putty as far as I know.
Is there a way to install TightVNC through Putty from my Windows 7 computer? Because I have no clue how else to put TightVNC on my dedicated server.
I'm trying to figure out how to start/stop gqview remotely from a batch script on a windows machine. Stopping works with killall but starting gives me a Code: Gtk-Warning **: cannot open display warning. Is this because it tries to open a GUI in the terminal and if so how to solve this?
I use Putty to ssh from my windows laptop to a remote CentOS machine. Is there a way to start a shell that doesnt dies when I disconnect so I can connect again and reclaim it?
ENV: openssh-server-5.4p1-1.fc13.i686 Problem: I am unable to ssh using Putty (when using ssh-auth/pki) to a fedora box . I get the message: Server refused our key. Here's what I tried so far:
- Tried generating rsa (as well as dsa) keys on the linux server and put the generated public key in the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys. Then I converted the private key using PuttyGen.
- Also, tried generating keys using PuttyGen and then converted the public key and placed it on the server
- Configured the sshd server (ssh_config) for using RSAAuthentication=yes. Tried all combinations and purmutations; however, I still get the "Server refused our key" error.
I'm using putty 0.60 (on Windows Vista) to connect by ssh protocol to other Linux computer. I have a problem with VI/VIM. When I key button "n" or "b", it returns me n^Z or b^Z.
I would to make a VNC connection from my Ubuntu (8.10) to a Windows 2003 server and would to know if in any VNC solutions I must install a vnc client on my ubuntu and a vnc server on my Windows ? is it possible to connect to my w2k3 without installing any program on it ? Just like it was a TSE connection between 2 Windows.
I want to connect to my debian server through putty, but only i got is the message - Network error: connection refused. I try with different setting on the server and in putty, but there is no effect.

I am access my linux box remotely using putty. I ran some build process on the remote machine. I lost my connection and now I had to re login using putty. I dont know if my process has finished or not. How will I check that.
I can't figure out why I keep getting kicked out of the ssh session almost immediately after login to an ubuntu 9.10 server (32bit).See the screenshot. I just installed this server and didn't make any ssh config options. I thought it would work right away. When I ping that server I get sporadic responses where some packets are lost. It's an old Dell poweredge 1400.where should I start troubleshooting? Authentication? Hardware?
So when I try to connect to my ubuntu server with ssh like thisX@dell-desktop:~$ ssh servername -P 1934X@servername's password: Permission denied, please try again.but when I use putty (yes with the same port number and the same settings)it works fine. This didn't start happening until my friend did a reinstall on the server, he didn't have a clue as to why it would do this.
I use centro 5 to run a game server with the command ./srcds_run quit -game cstrike -nocrashdialog +map de_dust2 +maxplayers 36 +ip 95.154.192.34 +port 27015 -tickrate 67
which then starts a 36 slot CSS game server but as soon as i close putty it ends now i tried nohub ./srcds_run quit -game cstrike -nocrashdialog +map de_dust2 +maxplayers 36 +ip 95.154.192.34 +port 27015 -tickrate 67 and ./srcds_run quit -game cstrike -nocrashdialog +map de_dust2 +maxplayers 36 +ip 95.154.192.34 +port 27015 -tickrate 67 > srcds.log 2>&1 &
i'm woundering if it something to do with centro 5 why nohub isn't working becouse it works for others either
