I would to make a VNC connection from my Ubuntu (8.10) to a Windows 2003 server and would to know if in any VNC solutions I must install a vnc client on my ubuntu and a vnc server on my Windows ? is it possible to connect to my w2k3 without installing any program on it ? Just like it was a TSE connection between 2 Windows.

I'm trying to do a ssh connection (using Quest Putty) from Windows to Linux. As linux are joined to Active Directory, is possible to do a SSO (using kerberos). If I connect from linux to linux using ssh, it works fine. If I connect form Windows (Win7) to Linux using Quest Putty or Centrify Putty, an error is displayed:

The /etc/cups/printers.conf file is properly set, the printers appear in localhost:631 and they are printing test pages. However, all command line print commands seem to be trying to print to sdst@other.domain I don't know why printers.conf is being ignored and why and how sdst@other.domain was added. Seems like it might have been auto-discovered?

I'm a frequent user of the shared connection feature of SSH. Usually i have two or three connections open at the same time through the connection sharing feature, but sometimes when i try to start another i get the message "Shared connection to <server< closed". All the connection that are established through the connection sharing feature are still active and not closed, but when i try to create a new one i get that message.. i've even got that message when i have only had two connections through the shared connection feature.
I've tried to search google but it doesnt seem like anyone else has had the same kind of problem, does someone know why i sometimes get this error ?

So I'm thinking this should work now. However in Chrome I get: SSL connection error Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don't have. Error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): SSL protocol error. IE8 gives me a typical "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" Note that [URL] fails while [URL] works fine, so it's definitely something in my ssl setup I'm thinking.

There is nothing added to my Knetworkmanager, I'm a beginner I should use a pcf file for my vpn connection. I use it properly, I'm sure because the connection starts and an icon is added to my panel and remains until I disconnect.

When i try to connect to my server via port 443 i get a connection refused error. However when i try to connect via port 22 it connects. Since that didn't work, i tried restarting the entire server.To restate, i changed the config file and restarted ssh then the computer, however the port didn't change.Ohh and yes my router is set to port forwarding on port 443, though it doesn't matter since I'm inside the network.

I have a Windows XP Professional desktop that I would like to remote connect to from my Ubuntu 9.10 laptop. I would like to connect in such a way that the current user of the XP machine doesn't get logged off when I connect. I have googled this subject and have been unable to find this exact subject. I am fairly comfortable using the terminal although I am still learning it. I have heard FreeNX is a good program but from what I can tell it's only used to connect from Windows to Ubuntu. Is this correct? I would also like to remote connect from the above mentioned laptop to the XP machine while at work over the internet if that's possible.

I have the listener running on Ubuntu on Port 6330. I can telnet to the listener and interact from both the Ubuntu desktop and the XP PC. But my utility program using Winsock is unable to connect. I have no firewalls impeding this. Maybe there is a better vehicle than the Windows Winsock.dll? I dont need network file access, just TCP ports/.sockets.

So let's say I bring my computer to a public place, say a library with one open, public, shared wireless network. I connect to that network. Let's assume that everyone else who's connected is using Windows. Can they see my computer (through Network Manager or other software) and attack it (SYN flood or something)? Or does it depend on the network settings?

It does let my Wii and my iPod Touch connect with no problems. I've tried restarting, but that doesn't work. We don't have access to the router, so we can't reset that. I would really like this fixed since mobile Safari is not the best browser in the world and WiiNet is even worse..
Note: Neither of the laptops are mine (one is my sister's and one is my parents'). I would never allow a computer of mine to use such an operating system.

When transfering a 2GB file from the webserver to the Mysql server.
The webserver's connection to the mysql DB server dies completely.
Need to restart the MYSQL process in order for it to come back online.
During this connection downtime, when using phpmyadmin on the mysql server shows no problem running queries etc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have configured openssh 5.8p2 with centos 5.6. My sftp is working fine with chroot environment but i am having problem with SCP. I am dealing with muliti Redhat servers. When i try to transfer data from other linux server through scp it gives connection refused. For e.g ssh 5.8 is configured on new server and i want to transfer files from old server which is using openssh 4.3 version.i created same username and password on new server as on old server.My sftp users on new server has no shell access but only sftp access. When i try to scp from old server to new server it gives error connection refused. Is the below configuration only for sftp and can't scp? According to google the configurations i found are for scp and sftp. Do i need to generate ssh keys by giving users on new server shell access, once created then stop shell access again, as i dont want to give shell access permanent for security reasons? but i want to use ssh keys for more security as well.

I am also not network savy. I would like to set up an FTP server on my home computer (presently Ubuntu 8.10). I have only one computer. I am using DSL with my telephone line for internet connection. I do not use a router.
Is it possible to do this with no router and only a DSL ISP connection?

View 2 Replies View Relatedat present i have a windows PC with 2 odbc connections 1 to Linux / mysql the other to novell server (micro focus cobol in read only mode) i use access on the windows PC to run query's on novell and write them to mysql on the Linux machine. this is very slow and causes problems because of access limitations. i cant connect the Linux box into the novell server as our IT Manager will not allow this but i can copy the data files to the windows PC first.
How can i connect to the windows PC to access the odbc link on there, and what program would i use for this, would mysql be able to do this? if this cant be done then i can use samba to view the files on the windows PC but then how do i set up an link into the data files (on the windows PC a micro focus cobol driver had to be installed) how would to connect mysql to this ?
Trying to set up a VPN connection from with Virtual Windows XP (virtualbox) and the network shows verifying user name and password but then times out and give me a message that it could not connect to the serve.
Since I could connect from a Windows system at another location, I assume there is something in Ubuntu that is preventing the connection so I tried to set up a VPN connection in Ubuntu.
I installed "network-manager-pptp" and "pptp-linux" as mentioned in the documentation but when I try to create a VPN connection using [main menu]>[System]>[Preferences]>[network connections] the VPN tab has a padlock on it. I set up the VPN but did not put a DOMAIN name on it because the server does not have a DOMAIN and it did not appear to be necessary on the dedicated Windows machine.
In spite of configuring the VPN connection, I cannot find the connection anywhere so I can see the server at the other end.
When I try to use [main menu]>[places]>[Connect to Server] using [windows share] and enter the IP number of the server, I get the message "Cannot display location smb:// {server IP address}"
And if anyone knows why the Virtual windows cannot connect.
