Server :: Nis Client With Same Config Not Authenticating?

I am configuring a new ubuntu nis client and have all the configuration files exactly the same as existing clients (nsswitch.conf, passwd, group, host.conf, hosts, yp.conf)
The new client returns a dump of the passwd file with a "ypcat passwd" command. ypwhich returns the correct domainname. Ypmatch seems to work as well but the client won't authenticate!
NFS is mounted and I can see home directories
The debian server is working fine with existing clients.
Could this be an issue with running updates on the new client?? could debian and ubuntu be not getting along.

i have successful secure ldap replication but i could not make ldap client to direct its authentication to slave ldap
here is my config file on ldap client (i am not sure if it is the right place though)

I have configured samba server on fedora machine and i am trying to authenticate a winxp machine through samba server but the issue is winxp machine is not becoming the part of the domain. The error is A domain controller for the domain HOMEDOMAIN could not be contacted.Ensure that the domain name is typed correctly.

I have LDAP server, it is configured and all is very well, I use it to make some authentication for our Servers and routers. Also I integrates LDAP with Radius and all is work, so LDAP is powerful to the company. Last week my manager ask me to try making these authentication for all of Company computers which is windows. So, can I use LDAP, or Active Directory? I wish to use LDAP.

I have a problem with sendmail. I am using the zen.spamhaus.org dnsbl, and it is doing a wonderful job of blocking incoming spam from open relays. But it is blocking my users who are on a dynamic ip range from any isp remotely. They should be able to authenticate and send messages no matter where they are as long as they authenticate right? I just want to use the blacklist to block incoming mail to my server that is being distributed to our email addresses.
I want to block people that are hosting mail servers and sending mail to my domain from isp sub-nets. But I don't want to block my users that are sitting on isp subnets using their mail client to authenticate over smtp and send an email from my mail servers.

I configured openLdap in RHEL5 on virtual achines,everything is working fine, I created a user called ldapuser,in LDAP server and i created a home directory for ldapuser in my LDAP client, now i can able to login to the both Server and client with ldapuser account....
Now here what am expecting is i want to export my server's home directory to the client, i dont want to create home directories manually in the client machine, i googled about that, and it can be done through autofs.....
what need to be done on the client and server side.

I'll try not to be too wordy. Want to get my openSUSE 11.2 (fresh install) laptop to see my network shares ...not to be a server or share any files. I've looked at 50 websites and everything seems to be "server" and "share" oriented. Maybe I (newb) am confused by the terminology...
I have a router that provides DHCP. My LAN PC's consist of a Vista laptop, an XP DAW, and a Kubuntu file server. Somehow I got Kubuntu configured properly, all of the Windows machines can access it and vice-versa. The Kubuntu smb.conf does not work on this laptop, and it seems overkill -no shares needed here. And yes, I get DHCP and interweb on the laptop -posted this with it.
All I want is access to my (other) network drives from this (openSUSE 11.2) laptop. Not a server, not to share. This is easy... right? It's driving me nuts Is there a Samba configuration that will let me jump onto networks and surf Windows/Samba shares like any old Windoze box browsing Network Neighborhood? Do I have to be a Samba guru?

I have ovpn configuration files for Windows from SwitchVPN. They do not provide configuration files for GNU/Linux. They said I can extract the certificate and key files from the ovpn files, but I'm confused about how to do that.First of all, I don't know which Authentication Type to choose: "Certificates (TLS)," "Password," "Password with Certificates (TLS)" or "Static Key."
Second, I don't know what to put where from the ovpn file. I see a <ca> � </ca> section and a <tls-auth> </tls-auth> section, but I don't see how those correspond to any of the Authentication Types. "Certificates (TLS)" and "Password with Certificates (TLS)" require two certificates and a key, "Password," requires one certificate and no key, and "Static Key" requires a key and key direction but no certificate. When I connect to SwitchVPN in Windows, it asks for a user name and password.Here's an example of the ovpn files (certificate and key contents removed):

I have a Nis server on Suse 11 which is configured using Yast and nis clients on Suse and CentOs .All clients which is on the Suse Os is working fine. But on CentOs , users couldn't login using nis username.I have mounted home directory using nfs in fstab . I can switch to nis users homedirectory only when i am root. But nis users could'nt login on reboot.' ypcat passwd username ' is showing the output . No selinux is enabled in the client .Is there is any problem with Suse server to Centos Client in nis ??

I've tried to read many of the topics in this forum first and tried to find a solution to my problem, but can't find one.I'm testing CentOS 5.5, it's the first time I'm using a CentOS Linux release.I'm trying to configure the proxy "client side " on it and cannot find how to do it.On other Linux release I've used the ENV variable like "http_proxy" or "HTTP_PROXY" etc etc.This time, I don't know why but it doesn't work.I've put the name and @ip of the proxy in /etc/hosts and tried different version upper/lowercase of "http_proxy" "HTTP_proxy" "ftp_pr.." but it doesn't work.If I configure manually Firefox and puting the name or @ip of the proxy we have on our network, it works.But if I try to use ENV variable it doesn't work...

I try to config my apache server to list all my files: c/c++, php, java files, like the txt file on my server,

i want to dump all my c/c++, php, java file under the pub directory and I can access it from my domain name,
if I dump txt file, I have no problem to view it, but when I dump c/c++ or php files under pub directory, then I can't view it like regular txt file,
Q: is there anyway I can configure my apache server to view all the c/C++, php, java file as like txt file?

I would like to setup 2 linux machine each with two ethernet cards, and need to connect to two subnet e.g. 192.168.*.* and 10.0.*.* . If one linux machine out of order, the other will take over all the services(1 httpd and two named(192.168.*.1 and 10.0.0.1 as server ip). I installed a server called Oracle VM Manager, which is actually a web based application to manage Oracle VM server.After successfully installed everything, it suppose to be access by browser using But strange thing is, I can see web pages from the server itself with but any other machines to access it with hostname or ip address all failed.

Can connect to our mail server using telnet onto port 25 and this works correctly, 'ehlo whatever' shows output as expected.
However using a mail client to connect it gives an authentication error and the following appears in the maillog file;
did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA
what to look for in the config, this works correctly on our development box but not on our production server. Could it be another program is interfering with the connection?
Sendmail is running in standalone mode not through the xinetd daemon.
I am using the PLAIN AUTH method as to try and avoid getting more errors.

All of sudden a working SAMBA server not allowing to login and deny permission for users to access it shares. When I check I checked the server directory rights are same, find no changes. and smb.conf is also same. when I checked closely I found the following error.
1. smbd.log show the following messages

I was wondering if there is a way of doing this without some of the usual methods (Kerberos, XDCMP forwarding etc).
The problem is
- Computer 1 is busy
- user 1 only has a login for computer 1
- Computer 2 is free
- user 2 cant use it as they don't have login credentials for the computer as it is all done locally
I was wondering if there would be a way to forward a login request from Computer 2 to Computer 1 without the use of any proper authentication methods

I don't know if the problem is the way I create my shares on the Domain member, but here is the way I've configured my systems. My systems are home based, and though the topology may be all wrong, it's set up this way only for test purposes. I love to get things up and running.I've already had a Domain Member running under Samba 3.02xx (Centos), but I'm having problems under Ubuntu and Samba 3.40
Server call Citadel is a VMware Server. I've got 3 virutal machines on this Server, 2 Ubunt 9.10 servers, and 1 Windows XP pro. One of my virtual servers is call Winserver, a Samba PDC server using TDBSAM as it's backend. Configured and working well. I have a share that I can access.On my Windows XP, I'm a domain member, able to access my WinserverServer share "Linux Doc", but when I try to access my domain member, it keeps asking me to login.

I have two ubuntu 10.04 64-bit servers running samba (3.4.7) and openLDAP (2.4.21). The LDAP directory is successfully replicating between the two servers. These servers also serve as LDAP servers for sudo, pam, nss, and other services for a dozen servers without issues. The BDC samba is configured to use itself for LDAP. I connected to the BDC using the samba ldap credentials and verified I could a) see the Computer object b) read NTPassword and LMPassword. The workstations can authenticate to the domain successfully against the PDC. If a workstation boots and connects to the BDC, they login fails with:

after doing a partial yum update and configuring cyrus and installing splunk my server box is not logging in to any of the users i have setup on it.to setup the cyrus server i used pam authentication so my assumption it could be that or somthing with the splunk install which i left default to /opt/.im running an old kernel i think its fc11 29 .pae in my boot logs i dont see that anything failed to run but it still does't let me logonk
