View 1 RepliesI am wanting some pointers/direction as to how I could run a administrative web service on our debian box to facilitate the management of the debian server (ie, creating iptable rules, modifying interface parameters, viewing dhcp leases).
I'm trying to replace an existing redhat server on our network which is performing as a gateway (unfortunately not meeting our needs) and this has a web-based management. It appears to be running 'asp' pages but these pages provide me no leads as to how it actually modifies the server's conf files.
Ive recently built a music server with the following configuration:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 processor
Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 Motherboard with 2GB ram
Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB SATA Hard Drive
Samsung 22X CD/DVD Burner IDE
I would like to be able to run Fedora 10 (and Vortexbox, an application to burn and store CDs) but have been unsuccessful in getting F10 to load. I am a novice Linux/Fedora user. I've been able to load and run Windows XP on the server with no problem. I have downloaded and verified both the x86_64 DVD and the x86_64 Live CD from the Fedora website. With the live CD, the last thing that appears before the screen goes blank and the install freezes is the blue line changing to white. I have tried several different SATA configurations , have turned off all non essential options in BIOS(ethernet, USB support), and have tried loading with fail safe bios settings.
When i tried to log in, i get blank screen on the login page, even the src/configtest.php This can be solved by reverting whatever was edited for the motd option to its original paramater. anyone experienced this before and found a solution? The only reason for me to use php 5.2 is to install roundcube alongside squirrelmail. Using: centos 5.5 32-bit, squirrelmail 1.4.8, php 5.2

I have tried several different versions of Fedora (64bit and 32bit) and have tried to burn it to a CD and/or DVD (For the larger version) and copying it to a usb pen with universal linux usb, liveUSB creator (from Fedora) and last one i don't remember the name on.
I just installed Ubuntu using Wubi and I am having problems with it. I am running an x58 Rampage II Gene with a radeon hd4850. I'm using a polaroid tlx-04240b hdtv for my monitor. After installing via wubi when I select ubuntu from grub I just get a blue screen that says no signal. I had the same problems before when I tried installing ubuntu and I finally gave up after messing with it for a while. Anyhow I finally started trying to figure it out again and I am brand new to linux so i really dont have a clue what to do here. I'm about 70% sure the problem is just the resolution being to high or the proper driver not installed but as i said I've never successfully used linux so i just dont know how to fix it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI created a USB stick with Ubuntu 9.10, used it to boot a dell Inspiron 1550 laptop which has WinXP. I tested 9.10, everything went fine out of the box so to speak. But when I went back and tried to boot XP again I got a blue screen. XP starts in safe mode and no apparent problems are detectable but it will not start in Win normal mode anymore.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI esablished a dual boot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu on separate partitions. Then, as I realised that Windows 7 was rubbish and Ubuntu annoyed me by losing wireless connectivity after an update, I decided to go back to Windows XP for a while. So I did what I probably shouldn't have done, and formatted the partition (or so I thought) with Ubuntu on, using Windows.
Now, on booting up the system, all I can get is the Grub Rescue prompt and nothing in the Bios menus seems to be of any assistance.
I've tried booting XP from a CD, but a blue screen error always occurs at the same point in the installation. I wonder if I should make a CD/external drive with Ubuntu on, reinstall it, and go from there?
Currently i am running fedora 13 with KDE and I get bore seeing blue login screen. I tried to change it under System Settings->Advance->Login Window , but it doesnt work.

I typed in "linux dd" to allow me to install the RocketRAID drivers. After selecting the drivers and skipping the test for the media. The screen would be just blue and no progress was seen. I left for hours... and still nothing happens..

All rc.inet1 an rc.wireless scripts work well if a wireless extension is on wlan(x). My notebook has Intel Pro 2100 wireless adapter (the ipw2100 module). By the system the card is marked as eth1. If you have a look at rc.inet1(.conf) you see that by default an eth1 has no wireless extensions. how to set up my network.

While I was trying to install a package in the package manager I accidentally removed a package that I am not aware of.I got a crash report telling me to enter something along the lines of a broken package repair mode. The next time I started my computer it froze at the blue screen with bubbles after login. Is there a way to access the gui using a recovery/rescue type mode so I can access the package manager, or is there a way to find and reinstall the vital package?

I have had Xp on my pc for a number of years, and have just installed Ubuntu as a dual boot os. I had a bit of trouble installing GRUB, but that's been resolved. My real problem is that now, after reinstalling GRUB, windows crashes at shutdown with a blue screen, as follows.
Code:
0xc0000021 {Fatal system error}
Windows logon process system process has unexpectedly terminated with a status of 0x0000000

Everytime I shut down my netbook the blue Kubuntu Screen comes instead of the Red Ubuntu Screen. I don't want the Blue Kubuntu Screen, I want the RED Ubuntu Screen. How do I do this? I tried installing KDE and KDE for netbooks, and KDE default settings (all from software center). What else do I need to do to get rid of this blue screen?

I'm a bit of a nube with Linux. Have had it installed and Acer Veriton for a while but after last yum update it now hangs on the blue screen with the F bubble in the middle. I can login remotely OK but am not sure what to look for. It seems to be something X11 related but I'm not sure. I would post the relevant logs but am not sure which ones are associated with this problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHave recently dual-installed F14 with Windows 7 on an Asus Eee PC 1015P, have been in and out of both systems satisfactorily a number of times. Now the Fedora boot just hangs up at the plain blue "f" screen. I have been prodding around looking at the problem of having no WLAN under Fedora but have not knowingly made any changes. I thought about just doing a re-install but am reluctant to risk messing things up further i.e damaging the Windows until I have Fedora working ok.

I have a Toshiba NB305 on which I've installed 10.04 and then 10.10. I set it up to dual boot windows, but windows has never booted. I get a quick blue screen, and then it goes back to the grub menu. Ubuntu boots just fine. I occasionally have reason to boot into Windows. So it would be nice to get it working. Here's the output from boot_info_script.

I have installed Fedora 11 and have been using it for about a 4 months now. Everything has been working just fine until this morning when I booted up the computer and it hung at the blue screen with the F bubble in the middle. I waited about 10 minutes without any change to the system. I held down the power button to power off and tried starting the computer again with the same result.
View 3 Replies View Relatedthere is a way to change the OS boot screen from the blue loading bar at the bottom to something more fancy. For example if you take a look at Oracle Enterprise Linux 6 they have a loading screen that makes an "O" on start up. Note: I am not talking about GRUB, I already know how to change the grub boot screen. If so can someone provide the steps needed to modify the OS loading screen.
