Nov 3, 2010Currently i am running fedora 13 with KDE and I get bore seeing blue login screen. I tried to change it under System Settings->Advance->Login Window , but it doesnt work.

General :: Login Screen On Blue Background But No Mouse?
Oct 27, 2009Why do I have a log in screen and no mouse on PCLinuxOS live install. I have the blue background and the graphics but no mouse and just a log in screen. I can log in root/root or guest/guest but not much else whats up.

Feb 22, 2010While I was trying to install a package in the package manager I accidentally removed a package that I am not aware of.I got a crash report telling me to enter something along the lines of a broken package repair mode. The next time I started my computer it froze at the blue screen with bubbles after login.Is there a way to access the gui using a recovery/rescue type mode so I can access the package manager, or is there a way to find and reinstall the vital package?

Only User Defined Session and Recovery Console options are available but they are not working as well. But when I did the Gnome 3 upgrading, it asked for me to remove unused packages and I said yes. About 20 packages removed. Do I need to reinstall my Ubuntu? Or can I get my old Gnome 2? (Not Unity, I didn't like it.)

Aug 18, 2010I have used Ubuntu since 7-4; I now have 10.4. However, in the last week I have been taken to the login screen three times. This could be potentially calamitous. Ctrl+Alt +Backspace have by default been disable since 9-4. There is no way I am pressing atl+Prtscr +K. I wonder if there is a new zap command in 10.4, and if so, how to disable it. I have never found the need to go back back to the login window. I am generally using the command line when doing this.

Aug 10, 2010I just installed Ubuntu using Wubi and I am having problems with it. I am running an x58 Rampage II Gene with a radeon hd4850. I'm using a polaroid tlx-04240b hdtv for my monitor. After installing via wubi when I select ubuntu from grub I just get a blue screen that says no signal. I had the same problems before when I tried installing ubuntu and I finally gave up after messing with it for a while. Anyhow I finally started trying to figure it out again and I am brand new to linux so i really dont have a clue what to do here. I'm about 70% sure the problem is just the resolution being to high or the proper driver not installed but as i said I've never successfully used linux so i just dont know how to fix it.

May 18, 2010I have windows 7 on my laptop (Dell Studio model). I have installed fedora 12 onto my machine in the unallocated space, the installation went smoothly. If I login to the fedora directly then every thing works fine. but if I login to Window 7 and again try to re-login into fedora 12 after shutting down the winows 7 then the booting screen will become black (almost invisible) even though I can be able to login and can go to the desktop (which is also very least visible) if i click on suspend and then click on the power button then the screen will become properly visible.

But just Today... first for what ever reason my wifi stopped to work (at boot time) even though interface was up as usual, driver was loaded, supplicant has not been touched etc. So I wired up a LAN cable and the at boot time I saw an information from eth0 that packet length is 0 and cannot be parsed (great no network at all). Tried to investigate the problem on a different machine, and one of the suggestions I've found was to set router to no security and see if wireless will connect. I thought that it would be a good idea to reboot the machine to attach to the rooter at boot time and no eth0,wlan1 tries to connect to the network and then I get a black screen instead of login window

I have desktop effects on and window shadows enabled. The main windows don't seem to follow this, nor does any taskbar pop-ups when you hover your mouse over them. I even set the shadow settings to high/annoying settings but I only see it on context/right-click menus.
I don't like the blue shadow because it is too light, but I can't seem to find where to change it. This seems to also apply to in-active windows as far as the size of the shadow but with a gray shadow instead. Still, if the desktop effects were effecting this, then the shadows I see should be large. Plus, desktop effects only give you one color choice with it just being darker on the active window. How to change this?

May 30, 2011When i try to install Fedora 15 on a clean machine it freezes as soon as the pixelated load bar with the white, light blue and dark blue colors show.
I have tried several different versions of Fedora (64bit and 32bit) and have tried to burn it to a CD and/or DVD (For the larger version) and copying it to a usb pen with universal linux usb, liveUSB creator (from Fedora) and last one i don't remember the name on.

Feb 8, 2011I esablished a dual boot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu on separate partitions. Then, as I realised that Windows 7 was rubbish and Ubuntu annoyed me by losing wireless connectivity after an update, I decided to go back to Windows XP for a while. So I did what I probably shouldn't have done, and formatted the partition (or so I thought) with Ubuntu on, using Windows.
Now, on booting up the system, all I can get is the Grub Rescue prompt and nothing in the Bios menus seems to be of any assistance.
I've tried booting XP from a CD, but a blue screen error always occurs at the same point in the installation. I wonder if I should make a CD/external drive with Ubuntu on, reinstall it, and go from there?

Jan 25, 2011I deinstalled Ubuntu today. Just deleted the partitions etc and thought it would be fine, but now this weird grub thing is telling me:

I am at the end of my wits: I downloaded a liveCD, which will not boot. My XP cd boots but gets a blue screen afterwards I downloaded a windows 7 live cd which did not help either
Problem is, I can't load my bios anymore to change the boot order... Didn't even know Grub was part of linux...
Point is, I got a presentation tomorrow and all my important files are on that laptop. . . the setroot=(hd0,0) gives no response. I tried a bunch of other commands but I keep getting unknown command...
