I have disabled password logins to a server.I want to transfer some files to it using a client like FileZilla but there was no way I could give private key to filezilla is there an ftp client
which supports key based login?
I have setup SFTP and it is running without any problems. The problem I have is finding a client that supports key based logins through Linux. I do not want user based logins available and so far the solution works through my Windows machines using WinSCP. The only client I have found for Linux seems to be FileZilla but I have to convert my private key to the FileZilla format which removes the passphrase leaving it nice and insecure.

So I've configured ldap on Centos5 64 bit and I can run "ldap search" and "gentent passwd" on the client/server and it shows my users info.
But I can't login via the cli or GUI.
I can login by doing;
su - username
at the client or server but I can't login by issuing;
login username
or at the GUI login screen.
I am trying to setup a web-based secure ftp client that can handle not only file transfers to and from one of my company's servers, but also allow new clients of ours to visit our site, create an account of their own and use it to log in and begin transferring files. This way, the users can manage their own accounts.
I don't know a lot about exactly what is running on our server, though I am almost positive it is debian based. I really only have access via ssh and ftp. I may be able to do more in the server room, but haven't tried. I thought about using net2ftp, but that doesn't seem to work with sftp, and also doesn't allow the creation of new users on the server.
Is there anything out there for me??You will undoubtedly require more information from me, so please let me know what it is and where I can find it and I'll get back to you as quickly as I can.

My question is, is there any software or commands that I could use to manage the bandwidth usage for each client? eg. only 5Mbps for 192.168.1.5, 10Mbps for 192.168.1.10, etc
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to enable webcam support so I'll be able to talk to people via webcam using linux (using Ubuntu 10.04). I've looked at some guides such as using Emesene messenger to no avail. Also I've tried to use Wine and install Msn Messenger 7.5, however I'm unable to type in my email address and password to login to the messenger client. I searched and read about installing some packages or whatever for wine to allow me to enter in text but to no avail. I've used the stable release of wine as well as the beta release for wine (by adding the deb url inside the software source list). I'm using empathy and there's a webcam icon next to my name under my gmail account, when I click that I can see myself just fine, but nobody can see that I have webcam support. =/ Any tips, hints, guides, direction..? I have an Asus Ul80vt and the webcam is a chicony something if that helps at all.

We have a RHEL 5.1 system that is moving to new hardware, however the kernel at this release doesn't support the new hardware, due to the Qlogic card change. I tired the Redhat KB and Bugzilla. Is there a Kernel change list etc I can search. Never really played around with the kernel too much so I'm just after some pointers for looking up this information. Offically its not supported until Redhat 5.3, I'm trying trying to research kernel info so I can tell the customer they have to upgrade.

None of the two clients I've tried so far (Linphone and SFLphone) work out of the box on Debian. Linphone doesn't work with ZRTP on Debian (bug #743474), it work an all other systems, but not for Debian. SFLphone is no longer supported, as it has gone to the project Ring, which cannot be installed without adding additional repos.
Is there an instant messenger client that has microphone support for AIM?

WinSCP does not support UTF-8 encoding with SCP protocol but with SFTP.
I'm migrating my file server from Fedora 9 to Fedora 11 (clean install), and I'm having a horrendous time trying to get key based SSH logins working. I've set it up before, and I can't figure out why it won't work now. I copied my public key into ~/.ssh/authorized_keys2 and set the folder permissions for 700 and the file permissions for 600. Then I restarted sshd. Now unless I remember wrong I thought that's all you have to do. It didn't work. So I rebooted just for good measure. Still didn't work. So I made sure that my client was still sane. I can log into my OpenBSD machine just fine. I compared the sshd_config from OpenBSD to the Fedora one, and the options seem pretty close.
At that point I had nothing to lose and just started messing with the Fedora sshd_config. I also noticed in the config that the commented AuthorizedKeys file had dropped the 2 off the end, so I tried changing that as well. Still nothing. Password based logins work, but I really don't want to go that route. Now I can only think of two possibilities. One, some sshd_config setting is wrong and I don't know what it is. Two, there's some package that's required for key based logins that I accidentally unchecked during the install process. That's about all I can come up with. Here's my sshd_config, I tried to just set everything back to default.

Step1: Scan for wireless network
Step2: Connect to the wireless network of my interest (unencrypted). At this point I am connected to the wireless network.
Step3: Open browser and type some website I am redirected or in some browsers need to click the warning to go to the NAC server and enter my login and paswword.
After successful login I can start browsing the Internet.Please let me know the steps to be followed in Ubuntu(scripts or CLI appreciated since I use Ratpoison).

The FTP client was buggy and repeatedly crashed. While I was waiting for it to work, I decided to look at the HTML of the website when I was logged in to their FTP server. It contained the following lines:

I substituted dashes for the sensitive information that was in the website. I do not have access to analyze the network traffic to see if our username and password is being transmitted in plain text to the website. It makes me nervous to see the username and password plainly written out in the html for a website; however analyzing the network traffic and securing networks is not part of my job description. But on CentOs , users couldn't login using nis username.I have mounted home directory using nfs in fstab . I can switch to nis users homedirectory only when i am root. But nis users could'nt login on reboot.' ypcat passwd username ' is showing the output . No selinux is enabled in the client .Is there is any problem with Suse server to Centos Client in nis ??

I then tried again, and reformatted+reinstalled with only "Standard system utilities", "Print server", and "SSH server".The boot hangs before I get to a log-in prompt. Please see the attached log files I pulled off by booting from the rescue CD option. (I got an error when attaching the log files, so I used tinyupload to upload the files.URL....
