I am using VNC to login to remote machine (vncserver). My question is; How can I login to remote machine (vncserver) through VNC client, without having to login to vncserver first physical. For better explanation here is an example: If john wnat to login to vncserver remotely first he has to login the vncserver physically then he can login remotely.
I am running NFS and NIS servers in my FC8. Clients are also running FC8. Everything was working fine. I could login remotely to server as well as clients. Suddenly (few days ago) a problem started. I can not login remotely to client machines. I did not do anything. I can login to server remotely, but not the client. When I try to login, it accept password and nothing happens. Also, when I try to login from server to client same thing happens. We share the home directory of the server with client. Another question: there two type of nfs server nfs-user-server and nfs-kernel-server. I just use gui to set up the NFS. I don't know which one I am running. Is there any way to find out which nfs I am running?
Is there a good terminal services client available I can connect to my Windows boxes from Fedora12? I am willing to pay for a commercial license if there is a good one
I installed the Syncrify server and client on a Linux box. From what I've read on their site, Syncrify comes with a built in self-signed SSL certificate. However after setting the SSL port on the Syncrify Admin Set-Up, I am still unable to login with a client through SSL. This works: (5800 is the default port for HTTP)[URL]...
I have 389-DS ( Fedora DS) setup on CentOS 5.3 and working fine. I configured LDAP Client and want to login as user created under fedora DS Client. From Client Machine, I can easily see: Code: [root@fedoraDS-Client ~]# id ajrain uid=569(ajrain) gid=569 groups=569 context=root: system_r:unconfined_t:SystemLow-SystemHigh
This is User from LDAP Server (fedora DS Server) which is showing in Client Machine. So It means its retreiving value from Server. Correct? Now When I am trying to login , it says "Server unexpectedly closed network Connection". When I supplied user password: Code: login as: ajrain ajrain@fedoraDS-Client's password:
The File /var/log/secure says: Code: Jan 27 02:39:27 localhost sshd[3996]: pam_unix(sshd:auth): authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=ssh ruser= rhost=10.210.53.104 user=ajrain Jan 27 02:39:27 localhost sshd[3996]: Failed password for ajrain from 10.210.53. 104 port 1241 ssh2 Jan 27 02:39:27 localhost sshd[3997]: fatal: Access denied for user ajrain by PAM account configuration
I have disabled password logins to a server.I want to transfer some files to it using a client like FileZilla but there was no way I could give private key to filezilla is there an ftp client which supports key based login?
I'm testing to log in using openldap authentication on jessie by following article from [URL] ..... and when I try to log in from ldap client (another debian 8 VM), it failed with
Code: Select allFeb 3 09:25:33 clt nscd: nss_ldap: could not connect to any LDAP server as cn=admin,dc=test,dc=lab - Can't contact LDAP server Feb 3 09:25:33 clt nscd: nss_ldap: failed to bind to LDAP server ldap:///192.168.191.120: Can't contact LDAP server Feb 3 09:25:33 clt nscd: nss_ldap: reconnecting to LDAP server... Feb 3 09:25:33 clt nscd: nss_ldap: could not connect to any LDAP server as cn=admin,dc=test,dc=lab - Can't contact LDAP server
I normally dont have a problem installing software. But im pulling my hair out trying to get openvas to work. i used this guide to install [URL].. when i try to login using the client it asks me to accept the certificate i click yes then it fails everytime
Before we use CentOS 4 and all work fine. We start x11vnc by ssh like root. And after this connect by client login in X screen. In CentOS 5 this way don't work. For connect we must login by local from keyboard, start x11vnc ssh by logined local user, and after this we may work, but can't change users.
how to login with ubuntu ldap server account from ubuntu client(karmic). Ubuntu server and client setup is done properly but not knowing how to login to ldap server graphically from ubuntu client. I don't want to login via SSH
I have an LDAP server holding user/pass/group for many users. Due to network issues, the server sometimes is unreachable and clients cannot login, current sessions usually freeze after a while. All client have ubuntu 10.04.2 x64.
I have went through the outdated howto to cache the LDAP credentials.
I setup the required packages daily cron "nss_updatedb ldap" and edited '/etc/nsswitch.conf' to have "files ldap [NOTFOUND=return] db" for both passwd and group.
I'm following [URL] to build a mail server running postfix virtual. The server is now running able to send and receive mails. But remote mail client 'Evolution' can't login the server to send/receive mails. # tail /var/log/mail.log
Code: Nov 17 09:00:32 xen05 postfix/smtpd[6601]: warning: xen0.satimis.com[192.168.0.110]: SASL PLAIN authentication failed: authentication failure Nov 17 09:00:48 xen05 postfix/smtpd[6601]: warning: SASL authentication problem: unable to open Berkeley db /etc/sasldb2: No such file or directory Nov 17 09:00:48 xen05 last message repeated 3 times Nov 17 09:00:48 xen05 postfix/smtpd[6601]: warning: SASL authentication failure: Password verification failed .....
Still fail: "Login authentication" and "plain authentication" same result.
I have setup SFTP and it is running without any problems. The problem I have is finding a client that supports key based logins through Linux. I do not want user based logins available and so far the solution works through my Windows machines using WinSCP. The only client I have found for Linux seems to be FileZilla but I have to convert my private key to the FileZilla format which removes the passphrase leaving it nice and insecure.
I've been using Trillian under Windoz, for one reason only - the email message-handling is amazing. Here are the features that impressed me the most with Trillian:
Check multiple email accounts + notifications (but that exists in many other clients) Preview subject line + message body teaser (this exists to some extent in Adium) Preview the above not only upon email-check, but in the client window itself or as tooltips when hovering over email-account name Email ACTIONS - right-clicking on individual messages, can perform common tasks (archive, delete, view, mark as read).
The actions available change for different protocols AUTO LOGIN-when double-clicking the account a browser window will open and automatically log me into the account That last feature is the most important one - at the moment, Pidgin/Adium/Empathy just send me to the email-account's homepage. I have (too) many email accounts, and having to enter login details to each is a pain. With Trillian, I could d-click an account, see my inbox, logout and then d-click another account - and be logged into that one... easy peasy.
Now, this is not a commercial for Trillian... really not. I just haven't found any other client that can do these things, nor have I found plugins for Empathy/Pidgin that enable this. I've been using Pidgin for now, cos it doesn't give any trouble with Skype integration (already tried the skype4empathyandpidgin, didn't work out) and has nice (not amazing) integration to the messaging menu.
I have the following problem:I have to networks in remote places.I have an opnvpn client in one network that connects to the the router (openvpn server). My question is,can i connect the network where the openvpn client is,throught the computer with the client to the other network. If yes, how? (please make it an idiot proof anwser because i have limited knowledge about iptables). I was thinking like forwarding (the router in the network with the openvpn client is also firewalling with iptables) the request of the ip class of the openvpn network to the computer with the client, which masquarades the interface
Anyone out there having expirience with iFolder. I've used the following tutorial: [URL] to install it. I used libflaim as a database (no LDAP). All web interfaces work well (admin, ifolder). I can create users and make folders. But when I try to login with a desktop client (windows or linux) I get an error message invalid credentials and this message in Simias.log:
why i can't login on the ldap-client via ldap, so here is a short description of my machines (i use openvz virtualising)I have on the HN (Debian Lenny) 2 VE's, which are in the same subnet (192.168.1.0/24)The first VE (Hostname: ldap1, IP: 192.168.1.91) is the ldap-server, which is so configured, that i can manage the server via phpldapadmin. The second VE (Hostname: ftp1, IP: 192.168.1.31) is the ldap-client, there should run a sftp-server in the future and the sftp-server(ssh-server) should use ldap-usernames to login. on the ftp1, i get with this command getent passwd the users configured on the ldap-server, but with the command id USERNAME the result is, that the user doesn't exist. (USERNAME is this name, i get returned by getent) and if i try to login via ssh, i get permission denied. and because the machines are openvz-virtual-machines, so i can't login on them like on a normal system, but a su USERNAME doesn't work too, because the user is not known on the system.
my installation:
i don't think, that the ldap-server is the problem, because the phpldapadmin and getent on ftp1 are working perfectly, but if you want, i can post the config here too. the VE ftp1 was configured with the following how-to: [URL] and pam is configured like in the chapter "PAM setup with pam_ldap" on [URL]
I just installed Fedora 12 on a laptop. I changed the default shell on the root account to /bin/tcsh and changed the runlevel to 3 and then rebooted. Now I can't login into the root account: it returns me immediately to the login prompt and I can't see any error message (the screen is cleared). Why is this happening? Can I boot into some sort of safe mode so I can undo my changes to the /etc/inittab and /etc/passwd file?I tried booting with a Live CD with the intention of mounting the filesystem and making the changes, but the new filesystem is a LVM and it won't let me mount it (or I don't know how to mount a Logical Volume).
My computer was working this morning and both hard drives were working fine, then all of a sudden for about two hours I was stuck with this "problem", then after fumbling and moving and stablizing things, then Windows works? See below for details. I've finally reinstalled both hard drives, but the one with the Linux partition doesn't work: it says nothing is discovered on the disk. I can't login at the LUKS login after grub starts, therefore I can't get into Linux, but Windows works?! I used to be able to go directly into Grub when the computer starts, I forgot how to do that but it doesn't matter. If you need details I'd be glad to provide them. I just wondered why Linux doesn't work, but Windows does. I have Linux & Windows on two different separate hard drives
yesterday I updated my fedora 13 to fedora 14 (on laptop) and today i cannot log in on user. It just go blank for a sec and is back to login.
At text console (alt+ctr+f2/f3) i enter my username and pass it give this for a sec and resets (clean) console username: Name password: last used: [date] login: no shell permission denied
i used unetbootin (fedora 14 netinstall to update) and later i updated 1,5G before reboot (did update that fix, forgot its name tho :s)
I would most likely reinstall everything, but i have some work at laptop and as death-line is near, i would prefer to fix it if possible.
edited: i have installed F13 on unused space, is there a way for me to access and fix it? or at least get some files from there?
I install Novell-Client-2.0-sp2-sle11-i586.iso for Linux on My IBM T23 with SUSE 11.2. I test it with Open Server 6.5 SP8 and SUSE Enterprise 11 both have Novell eDirectory 8.8.Know I can't login I get a error message "Module in unknown" can't you help?
I just added "export PATH=.:'printevn PATH'" to ~/.bashrc, then i can't use any commands, like "vim" or 'ls', it shows 'command not found'.
I cound't figure it out why. Then I logged out and tried to login. Another more serious problem occurred. after I type in login id and pass, it shows login seems to be right, but it doesn't login normally, but immediately bring me back to the login dialog box, and ask me to type log info again. I tried many times, it just constantly brought me back to the login page.
trying to create a "local network" by directly connecting an IBM Thinkpad with Debian Linux installed on it to an Alix computer running Voyager Linux. I'm following a "how to" I found to create a music server, hence the requirement. My issue is I can't get a static IP address to be configured on the Debian machine.I've trawled the net and have found the instructions about editing the /etc/network/interfaces and have tried to do this. First I tried to get DHCP working so I could connect the Debian machine to the net and this proved successful. I edited the interfaces file to look as follows:
# The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp
Then I tried adding a static IP address to the machine. As this is a network purely between two machines I made up the IP addres and used 192.168.0.1 and used a NetMask calculator to give me a NetMask of 255.255.255.254 (I told the calculator there would be 2 machines on the network). I then edited the interfaces file as follows:
# The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback
[code]....
I re-booted the machine (ifdown eth0 followed by ifup eth0 keeps saying that eth0 hasn't been configured - a problem there that I don't understand), but during boot up time it failed to assign the Static IP address to eth0 and made me go into SU mode. To fix it I simply replaced the interface file with the static IP inputs with the file that had the DHCP entries (I'd made a copy of the DHCP file), and re-started the machine. Everthing came up fine. So the first question is how do I get a static IP address to be assigned to eth0 such that whenever I shut down and restart the machine the static IP address is always loaded?
The second question is around creating the network via the cross over cable. From what I've found via Google, all I should have to do is create a static IP address on the Debian machine and a static IP address on the Voyager machine. Once they're connected by the cross over cable they should see each other. Is that correct, or do I have to do anything else?
