I have a dedicated server which I run on him only one website which has about 11k-15k unique visitors per day.
The httpd processes stuck it almost everyday and I can't understand why... I fix it via "killall -9 httpd" and then "service httpd start". code...
I am setting up a web server and SElinux keeps stopping httpd/appache and making it fail. Everything works fine when SElinux is set to permisive, so I know it is SElinux causing the problem. I have all the apache/httpd items allowed in the SElinux bool and even added the line the troubleshooter told me to add but the problem still persists. Here is what SElinux puts out:

Ok let's say I have Apache Webservers on 2 different machines within my network, I have http://outterABC.com setup at dyndns.org to point to my modem at home, and my router forwards Port 80 to the ServerA Machine (i.e. 192.168.0.3). I can access my webpage I setup for the Server A Machine.
But what I want to try and do is somehow access my ServerB machine's website that is on my same network. I tried something like this http://ServerB.outterABC.com and the apache page came up with something like the page wasn't available. I want to access the content of the ServerB website, but because I have only one router, i can only forward Port 80 site traffic to my ServerA machine's website. I'm sure it's a different syntax I should use but i'm just not sure what I should enter to bring up the apache root web page for the Server B website via http://outterABC.com
I tried setting up DNS A records on ServerA, but I don't think it will work with what i'm trying to do above.

It has all been working fine until recently when Apache is becoming unresponsive. I manually ran ps to check and there were 3 processes. However when I ran apache2ctl graceful I got the message 'httpd not running, trying to start' Is there a better way to check if a daemon is up?

Whenever i start httpd service 8 apache processes get triggered . Is it normal? Is apache is default application server like IIS in windows?

Sometimes you have a stuck process that's been stuck for a while, and as soon as you go to poke at it with strace/truss just to see what's going on, it gets magically unstuck and continues to run! So from merely 'observing' these programs have some impact in the running of the stuck programs .. what's happening here? Did strace (I guess via ptrace(2)?) send a signal, causing the program to cease blocking, or such?
I've seen this several times -- most recently on Linux RHEL 4 (and a Perl script mucking with processes and doing some network IO in that case), but in a few other contexts as well. Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this, as it times to happen ... in times of crisis. But my curiosity remains.
We are using this url on our testing box and this ip is reverse proxy IP ( 10.192.64.52)
Without reverse proxy:- URL is working fine.

But with reverse proxy its putting escape [%25] in between %3a
[url]
Is it possible to write a rewrite rule to bypass escape [NE] for this particular URL?
Running CentOS 5 x64 And today my httpd is running very slow and I can't find a fix. Looked all over different forums
When starting httpd I get the message: /var/lock/subsys/httpd': No space left on device I checked that directory above and there is no file called httpd tried rebooting server

I have just configured CentOS server my new office. This is the first time I am using CentOS.
Whenever I am trying to change the webroot of the httpd server, it usually say "directory doesn't exist". whereas which can't be the case as it is home directory of the user.
To achieve this, what Do I need to do?
The second issue, I am facing that whenever I am adding new directories to public_html folder, it is not accessible. as the error page 404 is shown. I have changed the permissions to 0705 and ownership is also transferred to other user. What else is required to make new directories accessible by the web?

I have a webserver that is running behind the debian server and am having trouble with it. When I enter the web address, it gets a timeout.
I am interested in setting up a webserver on a PC I have laying around...more for the experience and knowledge of learning it from scratch. I have used dedicated servers before with webhosting, but did not do the installations of apache and other items. The server we had purchased had CentOS installed.
My question is, can I use this desktop I have to simply install the CentOS DVD torrent off their website, and start from there, with installing apache, and all the other items associated with a server environment to test/play around, or is there a difference and something I am missing with my plan to do this?

I have a Ubuntu server (10.10) setup with apache and is being port NAT'ted via firewall from outside to the webserver.I am able to access the webserver from inside LAN but not from outside. The issue is i am using the RHEL server as my webserver and database centre. Now its a brand new formatted server with good amount of RAM and the usage is not much. Its being accessed locally over the LAN. But still i can see speed deficiency. Some of the pages do not get loaded and some times i can see the delays in loading the new pages. Any idea y is it so? Or is there anything i can do to increase the speed?

I have checked and firewall and selinux settings are disabled. The two webservers are able to ping and browse other sites. Dns settings are the same for all 4 servers. traceroute for working and not working webservers are the same.
