General :: Using The RHEL Server As Webserver And Database Centre?
Jul 12, 2011
The issue is i am using the RHEL server as my webserver and database centre. Now its a brand new formatted server with good amount of RAM and the usage is not much. Its being accessed locally over the LAN. But still i can see speed deficiency. Some of the pages do not get loaded and some times i can see the delays in loading the new pages. Any idea y is it so? Or is there anything i can do to increase the speed?
We are planning to migrate our LINUX server from RHEL 3to RHEL 5. What are the configuration difference between RHEL 3 to RHEL 5 for webserver installations?
I am looking for advice on a what I am sure is a very basic procedure but I have never had to set this up before and am not sure where to start.
I am running 2 CentOS5.3 boxes. I have one webserver connected to the internet and behind a firewall. I would like to set up the 2nd server (database) behind the webserver and completely inaccessible from the internet. Ideally so it can only be accessed by first ssh'ing onto the webserver and then ssh'ing from there onto the database. The webserver connecting locally to database.
From what I have seen it looks like I need to set this up using NAT but I have never done this and do not know what is involved. Can someone point me in the right direction and optimally outline the steps I need to take to hook this up? Do I need to worry about any specific hardware configuration as well?
I have a dedicated server running Centos 5.2. I have a Wordpress MU site that's setup over apache 2, mysql 5, php5, and I use phpmyadmin as well. I'm able to read the database as my website appears perfectly fine, however, I can not write to it. What exactly do I need to install on my Centos sever to allow my site to interface with the database? I've used shared servers and VPS's with no problems but this just won't work. The support team seems clueless and I'm ready to ask them to reinstall my entire OS and everything else again.
Ok let's say I have Apache Webservers on 2 different machines within my network, I have http://outterABC.com setup at dyndns.org to point to my modem at home, and my router forwards Port 80 to the ServerA Machine (i.e. 192.168.0.3). I can access my webpage I setup for the Server A Machine.
But what I want to try and do is somehow access my ServerB machine's website that is on my same network. I tried something like this http://ServerB.outterABC.com and the apache page came up with something like the page wasn't available. I want to access the content of the ServerB website, but because I have only one router, i can only forward Port 80 site traffic to my ServerA machine's website. I'm sure it's a different syntax I should use but i'm just not sure what I should enter to bring up the apache root web page for the Server B website via http://outterABC.com
I tried setting up DNS A records on ServerA, but I don't think it will work with what i'm trying to do above.
I have one desktop machine with fedora 11 installed and a Laptop with both linux and Windows Xp. I use the laptop as my client machine.
I want to set up both a dns and web servers on the same machine for testing and practise purposes.
how to do it bcoz I can set up the webserver but I can't browse the website on the Fedora machine when I use my laptop. I have learnt that I should set up a Dns server.
My problem is I need a broad method to reset the rpm database on my [almost] up-to-date RHEL 5 WS system.
I do not fiddle around with installing new things on this system or perform strange configurations.
A little over a week ago, I started encountering packages in conflict. I entered a RHEL help desk ticket that has been open for over a week. The person assigned the ticket is trying to clear one error at a time.
Once I remove the package in conflict, I get pending transactions; follow the instructions to clear those; and then get more conflicts. I'd like to reset everything without re-installing.
is possible to edited the default RHEL CD to have it automatically install RHEL based off of a kickstart file that I will store locally on the CD. My plan would be to put a cd in a server and have the OS automatically being installed.
I switched from Windows 7 to Linux and when I'm trying to import my database i get error 1044. It used to work when I was using Windows 7. I was able to export the database from my localhost. However, when I try to import it to the other server I get this:#1044 - Access denied for user ' '@'%' to database'.I have been trying for hours to upload my site from the localhost to another server without any luck..I'm using phpmyadmin to import it.
I cannot ssh into an RHEL 5.5 server (192.168.20.104) from another RHEL 5.5 server (192.168.20.101) unless server debug is turned on 192.168.20.104, and even then, I have to wait several minutes before the connection is established. scp to and from the 104 server is also not working. Here is the debug output on the 101 server when server debug is not enabled on the 104 server-:
I have a database server running RHEL 5.1 32 bit that suffered some catastrophic failures about 6 months ago. We were able to patch it back together and keep it running, but now the manufacturing site it supports is going to shut down for two weeks and I would like to replace it permenantly. Does anyone have any guidance for that sort of thing? I'd like to have the new server up and running before hand, basically changing the hostname/ip and restoring the databases only on conversion day. I've done this in the past with HP UX - Red Hat conversions, but this is my first red hat to red hat move. Any advice or shortcuts?I forgot to add the other wrinkle. The new server will be running 64bit linux.
how to connect the database to proxy server.example:: this is the acl in squid.conf to block the website.the keyword that want to block store in file .txt
a bit info, the data that stored in database is a keyword to block the website if a keyword in blacklist match with the url that want access by user. if match so then the user cannot access the website.

am using zabbix open source solution for systems monitoring. I am facing a problem and discussed it on zabbix forum. my post was as "My zabbix server is behaving abnormally, approximately daily from 9 to 12, the server stop accumulating logs. I observed that the server report is RUNNING but it did not accumulate log values and also the machine have no extra load. Its shown in the graph image attached.t the following reply,"database performance?are you monitoring database IO and available database threads? "So any one have any idea that how can I do this as I am using MySQL as backend database on RHEL 3.
I recently moved into a new place and when I hooked up my webserver, I wasn't able to bring up my page, even from localhost. With some digging, it seems that I can't access the database that housed my posts (wordpress installation). I looked for the datadir in MySQL and that directory shows the wordpress directory that should be holding the database and all the files are still there. 1) why the database no longer shows up 2) how to restore the database from the files?
I need to check with nagios an oracle database that is located on a server. There are a lot of plugins that are provided, the problem is that the database is located on a remote server (i have an hostaddress) and then i need to log on the database (i have username and pass)So i only need to have a plugin that connects to that hostaddress and logs on, but i can't find any plugin which does that
