I have a redhat 4 on a Hp Proliant server. I did a restart of the server. Now it is not getting to the grub menu. It shows:

and it hang there.
I know it has something to do with some controller stuff and I could not figure it out. It used to be working till I reboot.
I am running RedHat 9.0 on a VMware on Window XP, I have bridged the network card eth0 such that
I can ping the host machine 192.168.45.67 and the Windows XP machines on my LAN.
I managed to set up the samba server on this Redhat 9.0, And I can see the netbios name on my WindowXP: Rhl machines. Now I want to reach the Windows machines vi sambaclient but I get an Ip address that is not on my network -192.168.24.1.I did not set this IP address.
This is the message I get when I run smbclient so that I can reach windows machine when I am on Redhat:

My question is Where does 192.168.24.1 IP address come from. Where must I look in order to remove it ( in Linux or Windowx Xp.
I upgrade my f13 to f14 with preupgrade but after that i give this boot message.how can i fix this error?

I followed a tutorial to install XP across my entire HDD. I installed Ubuntu 10.10 "Alongside another OS". Ubuntu loads fine, but when trying to load XP, the boot screen shows up, but then the computer restarts and returns to the GRUB menu.
I saw some threads on this site and tried to type: sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
In the terminal. It returned a blank text document so I'm not sure if that information was outdated. I then typed: sudo fdisk -l
And got this:
Not sure what any of this means, but I sure hope someone else does. I would say forget XP, but it's hard to let go of some of the games and software I use. I appreciate any responses, thank you.
I tried to format the table as it appeared, but the forum corrected the extra spaces.
when i try to play a video, from internet it is showing the message 'Either javascript turned off or download and install latest adobe flash player'. But eventhough I downloaded and installed adobe flash player I am unable to play any video and still it is giving the above message. what is the reason?

I tried using the Ubuntu 10.4 LTR install disk to correct grub, but got stuck at the point where it asks for doing the manual partition.

The strange thing is it seems to be specific to the computer. I have an older, lower spaced desktop, computer that I tried the hard drive in and it worked fine. A failed upgrade, from disk images, of Fedora 10 to 11 resulted in no GRUB bootloader main menu appearing on bootup (no WIN, no LINUX choices from which to boot). I need to somehow get past this grub shell, and re-install/re-instate the grub bootloader, so it can boot normally.What grub command(s) must I use? I've played around with the commands, but with no success.I worry that if I can't resolve this, the whole machine may be useless.
I'm currently trying to get to the root of an problem on startup; unfortunatly when booting after the first couple of messages when booting without quiet and with nosplash in the grub menu I still end up with the nice blue background and the slowly filling bubble... I'd like to go back to the old, boring, messy, but much loved and now much missed (least by me) text boot screen where I can see wtf my system is doing and where its hanging during the boot process.

I had Windows XP working. I then put in a new hard disk and installed Redhat 5 on it. rom then i could only boot into Redhat. Further, everyting is very slow. Anothe rproblem is that Redhat does not see my netwrok so I cannot get onto the Internet. I need to have the choice of booting into XP or Redhat.

I have search on the net for this problem and i have understand it a little. But my situation is a bit different and because i don't want to format my hard disc i wanna try to fix it. So before a couple months i download ubuntu 9.10 and i installed it a month later. But my computer used to crash all the time and i couldnt use it. So i download the latest ubuntu 10.4 and install it while having windows xp and the old ubuntu 9.10(so i had windows xp, ubuntu 9.10 and ubuntu 10.4 partitions). Now i tried to delete the partition of ubuntu 9.10 from disc utility. so i have the message i wrote above when i boot. sda2 = Win7 Main (default install)

array 1:
slot 0 & 1
array 2:
slot 2 & 3
during the installation, the installer detect the array 2 as sda and array 1 as sdb.. so i proceed with installation on array 2. after completed the installation, the first reboot lead me to a 'grub-rescue" prompt. by following the guide at url Mode, i've noticed that the boot folder has changed to (hd1,1), which i believe it has changed to sdb1. default root device shows that prefix=(hd0,1)/grub.
Any time I watch a screencast dealing with notifications, there are always multiple of them on the screen. But when I have a program that uses them it always just allows one at a time.
