Now I am trying to configure the client from the Sbadmin software. It shows up in red icon and unable to connect to client server.Although I am able to ping the server normally.

Anothe rproblem is that Redhat does not see my netwrok so I cannot get onto the Internet. I need to have the choice of booting into XP or Redhat.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwe have an old redhat ES version 3.6 server .we would like to back it up using veritas netbackup version 7.0 . unfortunatly this version of redhat is not supported by symantec . I will have to find another way to backup this server . I was thinking of doing a rysnc and move the data to a another server and back that server up. I am not sure if this will work as the newer version of rhel uses ext2 and ext3 Filesystem and not sure if this is compatible with the rhel version 3 filesystems.

This should be a quick one. I'm trying to backup a single directory and it's subdirectories on my Lucid Server to a freenas box across my network. This is what I'm using to do that..
rsync -r -a -v -z * --delete freenas:dSIBackups It almost works perfectly except for one problem. When a file is deleted at the source, this command doesn't seem to delete it on the receiving end. I assumed that the --delete would do that but aparently not. Can anyone think of a reason that this would happen?
extremely new to computing, learned about linux in computer class and wanted to try it out. Got a copy of live usb creator, worked fine. Got fedora 10 then 9 on my 8Gb stick. I am getting the "Could not find Kernal image: linux" error. I have looked all over and have found the same line of code:
/isolinux/vmlinuz initrd=/isolinux/initrd.img. I enter this and get nothing. I review the config file and while I think it is in order, i must admit that i am woefully ignorant of much of what i see there.
The only difference in my config file from the fix is that vmlinz is listed as vmlinuz0, the same with the initrd.img. (initrd0.img) I am running an amd 64 x2 3800 processor, with a G of ram. I have Xp installed and nvidia gforce 6150 on board graphics. ( i have read that this may be a problem)
I install and tested Restore EE Backup server on a test PC with basic configuration and its working fine.

The issue i have is where is the location these backup snapshots or files are saving? I want to add a separate Storage to save the backup?
Does anyone know of any decent enterprise level backup solutions for Linux? I need to backup a few servers and a bunch of desktops onto one backup server. Using rsync/tar.gz won't cut it. I need like bi-monthly full HDD backups, and things such as that, with a nice GUI interface to add/remove systems from the backup list. I need basically something similar to CommVault or Veritas. Veritas I've used before but it has its issues, such as leaving 30GB cache files. CommVault, I have no idea how much it is, and if it supports backing up to a hard drive rather than tape.

According to what I've read, this requires rarpd and tftpd which I've set up on opensuse, but also bootparamd which I can't find for 11.3. It seems it was last included with opensuse 9.2. Does anyone know if it's available, if I could use the suse 9.2 version, or any alternative?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to rsync files and directories from a RedHat linux host(v 4.5 & 4.7) to a Windows server 2003R2 Standard Edition with cygwin running. I'm executing the rsync command from the cygwin shell. The transfer involves rsync'ing approximately 1 TB of data from the linux server to the windows server. After about 280+GB of data transfer, the transfer just dies.
There seems to be no particular file or directory that the transfer stops at. I'm able to rsync GB's of data from other linux hosts to this cygwin server with no problem. Files and directories rsync fine.The network infrastructure is essentially the same regardless of the server being rsync'ed in that it is GB Ethernet running through Cisco GB switches. There appear to be no glitches or hiccups across the network path.
I've asked the folks at rsync.samba.org if they know of any problems or issues. Their response has been neutral in that if the version of rsync that cygwin has ported is within standards then there is no rsync reason this problem should happen.I've asked the cygwin support site if they know of any issues and they have yet to reply. So, my question is whether the version of rsync that is ported to cygwin is standard. If so, is there any reason cygwin & rsync keep failing like this?
I've asked the local rsync on linux guru's and they can't see any reason this should fail from a linux perspective. Apparently I am our company cygwin knowledge base by default.
I have been able to find enough information that I need to enable 'time-udp' in /etc/xinetd.d/ But there isn't an entry for time-udp. How do I enable time-udp (Time of Day server) on a Red Hat system? It's RHEL 5.6 64bit.
