I have just installed iRedMail-0.6.1 to my Ubuntu 10.04 powered server. I can receive emails from mail accounts on my server and I cal also send emails from those accounts to other servers like gmail.The problem is I cannot receive emails from gmail, hotmail or any other server.

I'm wondering why we can't received email when our primary DNS went down. We have slave DNS but don't know why we can't receive emails. Internet is working properly. The mail file in /etc/configuration on slave dns are there & the zone file is added. I edited the mail zone file to see if it works & restarted the named service. But still we can't received emails using the slave DNS. Do I need to reboot the server?
View 12 Replies View RelatedIt is the strangest thing. I can not receive emails on this server after it has been up for an hour. I noticed that everytime and email is received that a sshd opens but never closes. Causeing a memory issue that I dont know how to fix. Also the mailq grows and grows. Mostly with email stating the recipient and send are both [URL].. also postmaster@mail.jmchd.com shows mail system configuration error. I have to restart the server every 30 minutes so users can get and send emails. This is horrible because for every 5 minutes out of the hour emails are bouncing.i have looked through them but I know not what I am looking at.
PS. I was thrown into the position and have limited knowledge. I am used to a GUI.
I've got a request from one of my company's subsidiaries to block all incoming and outgoing mail for a group of users. I've read up some guides on access.db and I know how to do that, but now they want to allow these users to receive emails from a few select domains, and block the rest. To summarize:
1) Block all incoming and outgoing email to users in team A, except mail from [URL]
2) All other users can receive and send mail from/to any domain.

I have two situations here :
1) I have my Nagios running on the linux box and BMC Remedy Server on the Solaris box. I have simulated a mail from Nagios to be delivered to the Remedy server. But the Remedy Server does not receive it. I even tried snooping on port 25 but nothing has reached the box.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am newbie to postfix. I added a new domain to my postfix server in the main.cf under mydestinations variable and the relay_domains file. Also, added this domain to my backend exchange server. When I send a test message from the new domain, my messages from that domain appear to be stuck in the "queue active". What does it mean when you are stuck in this queue? Does this mean that my backend email server (exchange 2003) isn't allowing messages from this new domain OR that the POSTFIX server still needs configuring.

The problem my brain cannot get around is the DNS resolves to the windows server 2008 box(which host the website as well), how can we allow the email (ours@ours.com) to go to the Ubuntu email server even though the DNS name resolves to the windows server? We need the Windows Server but just Don't want it hosting our mail.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've a CentOS Box with no control panel.. I used to manage it via SSH. Any way, I've installed CSF/LFD on it.. and it seemed to be working just fine. The only problem I've encountered is that when I start and enable CSF, messages and emails keeps stocked in the mail queue.. I've double checked and made sure needed ports are opined.. But, I still have the problem.

Getting no errors from them either thunderbird nor Evolution.On the server (Cento 5.3) the email is in /var/spool/mail/ username. Sending a receiving email on the server itself whats fine using the mail commands. Is their a setting in Dovecot I'm over looking?

I use php to send newsletter via sendmail.outgoing emails work as needed.I defined a .forward file to get responses in my regular email account.If I use mailx to send emails from root account to my own account, it gets forwarded as needed.If I try to send from outside the box to news@domain.com the email is not received in the box and the sender does not receive an error message.

For example if I want to send an email to "luc@test.com", I will receive it in my box (ex "paulin@gmail.com")... I also receive in my box the logwatch which should be send to root@serverblabla.live-servers.net
That is very strange and I really don't understand what does that.
I've set up both Postfix and Dovecot on my server. I can currently send mail via Outlook to Postfix over Port 587 (rather than Port 25), and receive mail from Dovecot on Outlook. However, the only mails I am able to receive are those originated from within the server itself. If I attempt to send an e-mail to the address my Outlook listens to, the mail will never reach my Outlook. In other words, no one on the Internet is able to send mail to me.
Can someone tell me:
1) If setting Postfix to listen over Port 587 for my Outlook to send mail outwards is preventing me to have Postfix to listen to mails coming from the Internet? Would I have to turn on both Ports 25 and 587 in /etc/postfix/master.cf?
2) I have configured my Postfix to use saslauthd by authenticating those who are on /etc/passwd. This means I can enter my Linux account details into Outlook in order to connect and download messages. However, does this mean other MTA servers on the Internet who doesn't know my account details are unable to authenticate with my Postfix server and send mails to it?
My server already installed and works well, but I can't send or receive mail with Squirrelmail, the error that appears is: Server replied: 67 Can not execute command '/ usr / sbin / sendmail-t-i-fteste@gabinetedeengenharia.com '.

I tried connecting Kmail to MS exchange and did so successfully using POP 3 but never checked the box saying leave messages on the server and it removed the emails from the server. Now I have nothing in my Outlook Inbox on my XP machine. how I can restore the emails from Kmail to the server.
