Server :: Apache Virtualserver To Forward All Mail - Subdomains?
May 8, 2011
I want to setup a mail virtualserver in apache so that a mail. subdomain whats pointed to the box will automatically goto my roundcube install. i have all of the document root stuff working, however, mail.* doesnt work for a server name.
Can this be done? A company is currently running a postfix mail server. They got a new server and, while the users are migrated, they need to have the messages delivered on BOTH servers.
I thought it could be easily done in postfix: deliver locally AND forward mail to new server, but all solutions I found would deliver the messages in just ONE place.
I vae Ubuntu, postfix. I need to forward e-mail based on sender. Can I do it with .forward ?
E-mail that comes from user@yahoo.com destined to user@mydomain.com to be forwarded to user@gmail.com. Other e-mail that comes from any addresse must not be forwarded.
im unable to forward a mail with attachment my problem is as below cat /root/data|mail -s "subject" [URL] its not forwarding mail and not throwing any error my attached file is more than 100MB ,will any one me with correct syntax how much length of file can be attached maximum i also tried like this mail -s "subject" [URL] < /root/data its also not working
i have configured sendmail server in my lan and it is working fine for me.but there is one little problem for me. i want mails send sunita should be received by vinita.sunita and vinita both are normal users on same pc.
for this i made entry in Code: /etc/aliases sunita: vinita
I wish to intercept/forward emails that is sent to one user on multi user mail server.I only want email from one specific address or group,to be redirected and it will be redirected to another user on same server. The email should not arrive in original users inbox.".forward" file can not give me such solution, because ".forward" file will forward all mails to another specific mail id,which i don't want. I want only specific users mails onto another local user.Is this possible in sendmail?Anybody have clear idea of "virtusetable" & "aliases" file?
I have one Centos Server and I want to forward root mail to 1 external account: [URL] I installed sendmail and created /root/.forward with this content: [URL] and I sent a test mail with this command: /usr/sbin/sendmail root <prueba.txt But nothing was forwarded.
After that I ran the same command with the verbose option:
/usr/sbin/sendmail -v root <prueba.txt
And this is the output:
root... Connecting to [127.0.0.1] via relay...

For some reason sendmail tried to connect to example.com smtp server and couldn't reach it. I am sure this is because the smtp server for example.com domain is not example.com is mail.example.com. Besides mail.example.com requires authentication, username , password and the smtp port is not the default 25 is 9999. configure sendmail to forward root mail to a smtp server that requires authentication, username, password with a not the default 25 port?
The question is pretty much the same as the subject. I have a bunch of debian servers - most of them running exim4 default installations configured as internet site using dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config. It can send mails fine from php scripts and some other applications, but I can't seem to find a way to forward all root mail to some external address. I have tried adding "root: someaddress@example.com" to /etc/aliases and run newaliases command, but it doesn't seem to work.
I am running a CentOS 5.6 Server with a website and Forum. The website has a contact form and users can email various people in the organization. I have setup sendmail to send any mails like this to my email address on a Windows machine. The problem is that there emails don't have a header which has the senders original email header. It comes from localhost on my sendmail. How can I get any mail generated from the apache site to ALSO send mail to root on the Centos Server? That way I should be able to see the header and report the spammer or block them.
I've got a DNS problem I cannot figure out. I've been digging and pinging all day and I've waited for caches to expire and I'm not having much luck. From my desktop mac, I can't seem to resolve mail.port-o-call.net:
I have a DNS server on my LAN at 192.168.140.25. Going by the example in the O'Reilly DNS and BIND book I bought, I set up the domain movie.edu and [URL]. To my great surprise and delight, I can access toystory.movie.edu in a browser from another PC on the LAN (as long as I add 192.168.140.25 to the DNS servers). Encouraged by this victory, I decided to try to set up another subdomain at [URL].
This kind of worked but not completely. Interestingly, I can get to both [URL] and [URL] on my server, but on my PC, I can only get to [URL] not [URL]. Here is my db.movie.edu:
Code:
$TTL 3h movie.edu. IN SOA toystory.movie.edu. al.movie.edu. ( 1 ; Serial 3h ; Refresh after 3 hours
I have set up a dedicated server running Ubuntu Server Edition. I have apache2 installed and running great. I wish to let friends and family host their individiual websites on it, but I'm running into a bit of a dillema. It seems that my server automatically redirects them to my home page and not theirs.
I run my own DNS servers and host my own domains. I'd like to host a few subdomains of one of my domains on a server with a dynamic IP. Is there a way to do this? I *believe* that I can host one subdomain by using a CNAME record and a dynamic DNS service.
[code]....
How can I host more than one subdomain on a server with a dynamic IP address?
When I first encountered this problem, I though it would be a simple solution, but i must just be missing something obvious.i have a few name based hosts configured in apache.when i go to "www.adomainname.com" i get the first website on this list, not "adomainname.com", as i would like. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?here is the relevant part of my config files:
I have set up evolution with two POP account and it deleted all my mails from the servers, migrating them on the local machine.
How could I forward all the messages from Evolution to a mail account so I can access them over the Internet?
Forwarding all of them as attachment doesn't, because many of the emails themselves have attachment and it gives an error saying attachment type not supported.
If I try forwarding inline or quoted I have to forward them one by one and there are around 4000.
I have been trying to figure out how to forward a message without showing all of the previous subjects under the header. I would like to be able to highlight and remove the subjects, but it deletes the whole message. Only Outlook, Telus Web Mail, and Hotmail behave in the desired way, but I would like to have a native Linux email client on my machine to do this.
I have installed Fedora Core 11 with SELinux enforcing. It appears (via log files) that if I use a .forward file in the home directory for root that SELinux prevents the use of this mechanism for forwarding e-mail.Is there a way to continue to use SELinux and be able to forward root's e-mail to an outside account?
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
xx@xx.com SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection: host [URL] [ip address]: 550 Access denied...

There is an requirement, intranet people they may not have internet access but they want to send mail to external domain(internet),but in that intranet network one machine can have internet access. Is there any solution for this requirement.
I've setup my server by following a ton of goods, and it seems to work ok, but I need to start using my server for email in order to receive orders placed via my website. I've followed this guide - [URL] I followed the steps above, and tested the mail server via telnet, and all seemed to be ok. I tried sending an email via Squirrelmail, from cs@thinclientwarehouse.co.uk TO my working email simon@c1systems.co.uk, but the server returned with the following message:
<simon@c1systems.co.uk>: host mail.c1systems.co.uk[95.128.128.129] said: 550-Verification failed for <cs@localhost.thinclientwarehouse.co.uk> 550-The mail server could not deliver mail to cs@localhost.thinclientwarehouse.co.uk. The account or domain may not exist, they may be blacklisted, or missing the proper dns entries. 550 Sender verify failed (in reply to RCPT TO command)
I am trying to solve a problem where Apache stats aren't displaying correctly in Munin. I've ran through quite a bit of checks and tests regarding Munin setup, but I think my issue is related to Apache, but my skill set there is lacking.
first, system info: monitored server: CentOS 5.3 2.6.18-128.1.1.el5
I get this error in my apache error.log file whenever i call the php mail() function. I can send mail from the system and i have updated the php.ini files mail path to /etc/postfix but i still get this error
error.log has this line after each call to php's mail() function sh: /etc/postfix: Permission denied
I have installed F11 on my server bythis article! I have problem with certificatewhen I connectin from clients computers to my mail server for reciving mail! I have warning like this
I have set up postfix and dovecot as per the Ubuntu anual and appear to have a functioning mail server.Using the sendmail command I can send mail and I receive mail in ~/Maildir. Using Thunderbird I can read any mails received but I can't send any mail from Thunderbird. I have tried with both STARTTLS and SSL/TLS and whilst I get the prompt for a password I keep getting the message my password for my server is wrong.I have ports 25, 465, 587 and 993. Is that all the right ports? When I ping my domain name it resolves to my router name whereas I believe it should resolve to my IP. Could there be a problem with my host file? I've had a play but to no avail. Here's the error in mail.log.
Our primary mail server is Exchange 2003 Standard on Windows Server 2003 Standard - don't shout at me; I inherited it already set up this way.I have a couple of hardware identical redundant servers (HP ML350 boxes), all with very fast 2 or 4 disk arrays, multiple core CPUs and plenty of memory, and I am looking at two potential new additions to the infrastructure.
A secondary mail server is high on my list of priories. I've been well and truly bitten by Exchange in the past and given that this particular box has been running four years straight and that it's mail store is dangerously large, having a secondary mail server in place suddenly makes a lot of sense.
A new Exchange 2010 box is currently being set up, but the secondary mail server will remain in place even when the new Exchange server is brought online, so this won't be a wasted exercise.... I also want a gateway box in place to filter and relay mail to the primary server, or to the secondary server if the primary is unavailable. Currently our outer perimeter is:
Untangle running in bridged mode (primarily used for SPAM filtering, URL blacklisting, and very little else) Exchange 2003 sits behind the Untangle box. This is how I want to end up:
CISCO >> Draytek >> Ubuntu gateway >> Exchange/secondary mail server
I know I could replace/remove the Draytek but I want it to remain for several reasons, including lots of VPN dial-in users already configured and that it offers us an additional layer of email antivirus scanning before things hit the Exchange box. No point switching all of our remote workers over to new tunnels unnecessarily...
I have done some research and have started testing a pilot secondary mail server using Ubuntu/postfix DNS is properly set up and MX records and reverse PTR records are all present and correct, and things are looking encouraging so far. Before I go out over deep waters and start to flounder, has anyone who has done something like this got any obvious howlers I should be looking to avoid ?
I have setup a postfix mailserver and it seems to be working ok, we are only using this to relay mail to our forum users. Its not being used to recieve any email only send them out to the internet.
What is the difference between the mail.log and mail.info files? Can I turn one or both off? I see alot of messages like...
Just wondering what this string of log entries means? Also I am getting duplicates in the syslog file as well.
