I wish to intercept/forward emails that is sent to one user on multi user mail server.I only want email from one specific address or group,to be redirected and it will be redirected to another user on same server. The email should not arrive in original users inbox.".forward" file can not give me such solution, because ".forward" file will forward all mails to another specific mail id,which i don't want. I want only specific users mails onto another local user.Is this possible in sendmail?Anybody have clear idea of "virtusetable" & "aliases" file?

Can this be done? A company is currently running a postfix mail server. They got a new server and, while the users are migrated, they need to have the messages delivered on BOTH servers.
I thought it could be easily done in postfix: deliver locally AND forward mail to new server, but all solutions I found would deliver the messages in just ONE place.

We're using sendmail with ldap routing. We've setup a new mailstore which some of our users are piloting.
We've been asked to configure sendmail to forward a copy of pilot users emails to the new mailstore (Zimbra) as well as the old (Sun Messaging).
I'm not exactly sure how to do this. I've tried modifying aliases to forward to 2 destinations, but ldap routing seems to take precedence before aliases.

After searching the forum I could not find a clear answer to my question so I am giving it a try...
I have installed a LAMP server with Postfix as mail server. The scripts send email as user www-data using the mail server on the same machine.
However, the email got rejected by external mail servers (failed reverse DNS check) so I setup a mail server that meets all needed requirements.
Now I would like to use this second server instead of the mail server on the LAMP server. I found that this could be done with changing sendmail settings in php.ini (I think).
However I am not sure how that will go: www-data is no actual user on the new email server (which requires authentication before sending). Do I need to create a new user on the email server or change the settings in php.ini to match an existing user?

We're running a sendmail server on a fedora core 9 which we've configured recently. The problem is, the server is working fine but there are some e-mails that enter our server but doesn't get forwarded to the user.

Here it says "stat=Sent" but nothing from the above mail address has been received on the client's inbox. We've experienced this with Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and Thunderbird alike so far with Two(2) of our user accounts.

We have moved from a Windows based SMTP server to Sendmail on Cent 5.5. We have a special application that was written to look at the "BadMail" folder on the Windows box. I am told by my developers that it is capable of monitor remote locations and they just need to know the format or extension of the badmail files.
My question is what is the default location of the badmail folder in Sendmail? This is a default install from CentOS.

So I'm having troubles setting up a mail server. First of all, anyone want to try to telnet into <snip> on port 25 and see if it's blocked? I don't think it is, but you never know. How long does it usually take for MX records to get around? I've had this set up for about a day now and still don't see any MX records on any lookup site I go to. I'm currently using slackware 12.2's default sendmail configuration. Should I change anything? I started sendmail on my laptop and got emails going within the LAN but I cannot send emails over WAN (i.e. to/from yahoo or google accounts).e?

I have one Centos Server and I want to forward root mail to 1 external account: [URL] I installed sendmail and created /root/.forward with this content: [URL] and I sent a test mail with this command: /usr/sbin/sendmail root <prueba.txt But nothing was forwarded.
After that I ran the same command with the verbose option:
/usr/sbin/sendmail -v root <prueba.txt
And this is the output:

For some reason sendmail tried to connect to example.com smtp server and couldn't reach it. I am sure this is because the smtp server for example.com domain is not example.com is mail.example.com. Besides mail.example.com requires authentication, username , password and the smtp port is not the default 25 is 9999. configure sendmail to forward root mail to a smtp server that requires authentication, username, password with a not the default 25 port?

This machine is a webserver - but is running sendmail for the various webforms, etc. I want to configure sendmail on this machine to route ALL outgoing messages to the main email server. This means local users too. I have read through sendmail configurations for the past 3 hours, but it's mostly greek. Here is my current sendmail.mc file - could some kind soul tell me what I need to change (and WHERE)?

how to forward a user to a Microsoft IIS server under the SAME domain name (e.g. www.MySite.com) depending upon url parameter. My goal is to do this without using a subdomain (e.g. events.MySite.com). The diagram below depicts my goal. I want my linux server to decide whether to forward the user to an IIS server or serve them content from apache based on the url (e.g. www.MySite.com/Events).

I'm having a problem whereby I'm able to send mail to a mailbox from several different email addresses and SMTP servers (gmail, RoadRunner broadband), but I'm unable to send mail to the same address from one particular account, the SMTP server for which runs on a mediaTemple (dv) 3.0 box with CentOS 5 Final.I've spent a full workday on the forums, trying to troubleshoot the issue, and I'm running out of ideas. The server on which I'm having the mail processing problem is a mediaTemple (ve) running Ubuntu 10.04 x64 (Linux 2.6.18-028stab070.7 #1 SMP Fri Oct 1 13:53:00 MSD 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux), with ISPConfig 3. I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.10 Server using VirtualBox 3.2.12 r68302. I've setup a LAMP Server and Installed Redmine and I'm going to be starting some projects. The problem I have is that I've linked it to a subdomain thru my hosting, so things are a little more complex for me then usual. Here's the software I've added for this setup:
Ruby version 1.8.7 (i686-linux)
RubyGems version 1.3.7
Rack version 1.1

how mail server functionality works as well as how to properly set the host of the virtual pc.

Sendmail isn't sending mail for some reason and keeping it in the Queue. I attemped to flush them but it deferres the connection to the server in which it is trying to relay the message to. I have checked to see if there is a DNS error or anything like that. I attemped to flush the messages through webmin.
This is the result.
Code:
I am not finding anything in the logs to let me know their is an error. I can ping the mail servers that it is trying to send to. Now it has started delaying when ping MX servers. So I knew something was starting to mess with it. I have checked the /etc/hosts. It is correct. The server isn't black listed. Mail to root just gives me.

I get about a dozen of it, i think it is taking up my connection, anyone has any idea why how these connections appear? Is it because of my server's security loophole?
