Mar 28, 2011I have some issues while installing wireshark-gnome. see the below logs. I am using Fedora 13. I am seeing some transaction error when I issue "yum install wireshark-gnome".

I looked already in different folders by using locate ( and updatedb) but I cannot find the place where I should invoke the program. How I can start my program?

Dec 2, 2010I'm loving FC14, but I just find out that Wireshark is not working, as it was on FC13.Here is what's happening..... When running the application I get prompt for authentication, that was fine under FC13. I used to type my super user password, andthat was it. On FC14 I get nothing.Now when I skip the authentication the Wireshark Gui comes up, but it has no interfaces showing on my list.What I have!:

Couldn't run /usr/sbin/dumpcap in child process: Permission denied
Are you member of 'wireshark' group? Try running 'usermod -a -G wireshark <username>' as root.
I ran the usermod command to add my account in the group and checked it

but the same error message pops up.

Apr 16, 2009We are brand new to the Linux platform and just learning. So this is what we have done so far, Installed RHEL 5 on a test machine. Says it was succesfully installed. But when it boots it boots to a blank screen with no prompt or gui or anything just a black screen. Does not accept any input or anything.
We are able to get into the GNU Grub and this is what we see
I can enter b for boot
We would like for this to boot to a GUI interface.
We want to set this up as a simple file server.

Jun 16, 2010I am not very new to LINUX. I was using UBUNTU for the last 1 year and I have switched to Redhat now because I am thinking of taking a RHCE certification now. Actually the problem is that I am unable to install RHEL 5.2 i386 on my i686 machine, I have bought it recently 1 week ago. I tried to use the boot parameter "linux noprobe" then it said drivers not found after 2 steps when it loads drivers.
When I tried to make a GUI install it hanged after "loading /sbin/loader" and said "kernel panic - not syncing". And when I tried to make a text install it said hanged agin after "loading /sbin/loader" and said something like "Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP". If drivers are needed then when can I get those and how can I install those drivers? here is my hardware information as "lspci" says:

Jun 4, 2011I'm quite keen to get Fedora 15 up and running but I am falling at the first hurdle. I can successfully boot from a LiveUSB and be presented with a text only tty2 / tty3 / tty4 / tty5 interface inviting me to log in but no graphics are possible and I cannot see any way to install Fedora. I have GMA500/Poulsbo graphics chipset which has notoriously **** Linux support but I note that basic support has been inlined in 2.6.39 so I think that if I could only get Fedora installed and then upgrade the kernel or do other things later I will be ok.

I am trying to Install Fedora 11 from a live install CD. I know it works because I tried it on another system. After the little Balloon that shows its loading completes the screen scrambles, later a mouse pointer appears then freezes shortly after. When I remove Quiet from Kernel Params. Lots of text then Samething.. Scrambled Screen the Freeze. I have tried adding the Following Parameters to the Kernel (nomodeset, xdriver=vesa, acpi=noirq, noapic). This sounds like a common problem with ATI based graphics and all answers seem to point the "nomodeset" and the "xdriver=vesa" but they dont seem to help.

Sep 2, 2010I have a Asus UL80j, Nvidia GeForce 310m w/ 1gb mem, i3 core processor and 4 gb ram. Windows 7 HP came on, I love Fedora so I dual boot. I installed the Fedora 13, did yum update all is good. I attempt to use the compiz for cool effects however, it freezes my system.
I attempt to install the nvidia graphics driver from thread [url] and follow the instructions to perform the install and reboot.
First it loads the fedora logo like always and then boom, black screen with a blinking white underscore mocking me. Reboot once more and get the load out of pass/fails and see nvidia.ko for kernel...... [NOT FOUND] blah blah [FAIL] blah blah [FAIL]
