So it's not a firewall problem and the port forwarding is working fine. I am using putty to access the machine remote.Anyone have any ideas of what I need to set in ssh or sshd.conf. I am expecting to login with password not with keys.
I just started to run Fedora/Linux on my laptop... I was using XP and using putty to connect to Linux servers at work. I am assuming I can use the terminal editor supplied with Fedora to connect to remote linux server? Can I uses the terminal to connect to remote linux server? How do accomplish this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to use a headless (no monitor) and armless (no keyboard/mouse) PC as a Linux box that I can remotely access from my other machines. That is I want to make it look like I'm sitting at the console on the Linux box with a monitor/keyboard/mouse.
I've tried that via the instructions at [URL]
but, the moment I disconnect the monitor and reboot, the remote desktop connection fails as apparently X fails to start for lack of a "screen". Removing the keyboard/mouse does not seem to be a problem.
Is there a workaround?

I have a F11 box serving xdmcp. I log into them machine remotely with xming. As far as I can tell, all x clients work fine, EXCEPT for sealert. I get occasional selinux alerts, but I cannot use the sealert browser on my remote machine. When I try to run the browser, I get this: sealert -V -b

When I go to Applications>Internet> Remote Desktop Viewer and put in the machine name (either just the machine name or the FQDN including the domain name) I get an error "Connection to <machinename> was closed".

From a linux host, how can I find information about a lun that has been exported. For example, if I have 3 100G luns available via FC. How can I tell which is which? I've looked at fdisk, /proc/scsi/scsi, /sys, lscsi, sg3_utils. So If I want to destroy one of these luns, how can I find out how to identify it on the san device? 2.6 kernel. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been comileing that kinect hack with the 3d video capture. i did everything, calibrated cameras and everything else but when i try to open the final program (KinectViewer) i get back this error: Caught exception Misc::File: Error opening file CameraCalibrationMatrices-B00363201643043B.dat in mode rb. From what ive gathered off the web it is not opening it because its in binaly mode or something to that affect. any tips to fix it? is there a way to change what mode im in?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to setup my server box.. it's being setup as a web server, file server, and setup for me to be able to access it remotely (aka i do pc repair for windows users and it'd be nice to just know where ALL of my software tools are and get to them from there)anyways.. these things are almost all setup right now.. but the one thing i'm having issues with.. is the fact that this box does have 2 hard drives in it and i want to use both of them.. now i'm running straight command line and i can't find the info i need to reformat the second HDD (which is currently NTFS formated) and use it in this system... i'm running 9.04 as a server.. NO GUI INSTALLED! i need this with straight command line...What do i need to look for to figure this out? i'm having trouble figuring this out and it's really getting annoying..

Basically, I'm thinking in terms of VNC-like operation, where the remote user and local user see the same thing, only instead of a GUI, they both see TTY1 (or 2, or etc). Is that doable, or no?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot remote desktop to the Debian machine from anywhere,hether within the same network, or on a different network elsewhere. Also, the personal wiki I set up on it to be viewed via a normal web browser cannot be accessed, either. Both time out when attempting to connect to them. I can still ping the Debian machine when on the same network, though.
This started some time ago when we had a failure occur on our main server.had to powercycle everything in order to restore things back to normal, the Debian machine included. Since that time, this problem started to occur. This is a major thorn in my side in attempting to prepare for our website to move,I've been unable to figure out how to fix it.Originally, I thought it would be something in between the Debian machine and anything else, which would mean something like our firewall box or our hardware switch was the problem. But the tech support people who maintain those for us confirm that there is nothing wrong with them, so now I'm not certain anymore.
