I have a PDSI TS230 server running redhat. I inadvertantly unplugged the mouse cable from the back. When I re insert it, the mouse not longer works. It looks like the system does not detect it anymore. Does anyone know how I can get the system to notice the mouse without rebooting the entire system?

I have a 1TB usb externalHD that I am installing fedora11 and have partitioned it so that I have 500Gb free for fedora, system is doucore 2.4,4gb RAm, I tryed doing this with three differend mice and connectting the mouse to different usb ports

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 5 Dell servers that I recently upgraded from 11-12 and have noticed an issue that after removing and re-attaching a monitor I am presented with the login screen. After logging in I am just presented with the background image, nothing else. I have logged in using ssh and restarted gdm with no effect. init 3 followed by init 5 still has no effect. Only when I restart with or without monitor attached does it start working as expected again.Has anybody else seen this issue? It was not present in Fedora 11 on these machines.

i'm using fedora 12 on my new EASYNOTE_TJ65-DM-139IT [URL]... from time to time (about one time a day) computer freeze, i cannot use my keyboard, mouse still work (that is: i can move the pointer on the screen) but click on opened windows, button, menu doesn't do nothing. I can't understand what's the problem and how to solve it, all i can do is hardware turn off the computer and reload fedora. This is quite disappointing, hw power off it every day can harm my notebook.

My USB mouse stops working sometimes after 5 mins, sometimes 30 mins. Used two different '"corded" USB mice, different USB ports. Same issue. The power to the mouse itself seems to turn off as the laser light is off. Unplugging and replacing does not fix, only a reboot. Same problem with Ubuntu and Mint.

Just this past couple of days, the 'right-click' on the mouse (whether using the trackpad mouse on the latop or an external mouse) has stopped working, but not completely. I can still right-click in firefox, on the bar at the top of screen, in a terminal window, etc. However, right-click is not working on the desktop, that is I can not right-click on a folder or a file. Nothing happens. If I right-click on the trash-can, nothing. So I know the mouse buttons are fine as right-click does work in firefox.

I installed Fedora 11 on an external usb HDD (StoreJet trascend) connected to my Acer AspireOne (110 L), and it has been working marvelous for over a month. Today, something really strange happened: After I choose the booting media (StoreJet trascend) Fedora 11 freezes on the loggin screen: Both, keyboard and mouse, stop working. I'm running Fedora 12 on a Shuttle SN78SH7. Updates are all current from the Fedora repositories. I'm using the Nouveau driver for the Shuttle's on-board Nvidia graphics adapter. At random intervals (1 to 5 times per day), my USB keyboard and the buttons on my USB mouse stop working and the desktop freezes (i.e. GKrellm graphical data stops updating, partially painted windows don't complete). However, I can still move the mouse pointer around the desktop. This only seems to happen when I am actually using the computer from the console. It has never happened while the system was turned on, but not being used.
When the mouse and keyboard stop working, I can log in from another computer via ssh. Once the computer gets in this state, the only way to fix things is either to reboot remotely using ssh or to cycle power. I've run low level hardware diagnostics - everything checks out OK. This computer only has USB and firewire inputs. No PS2 jacks.

This stops my mouse buttons from working and I have to kill xorg. Anyone heard of this before or how to fix it? View 5 Replies View RelatedIf I run a graphical(or any process) process like music player "exaile" from terminal ,Is there a way without using "nohup" or "screen"(terminal multiplexer) to detach "exaile " from the terminal when ran without appending "&" on to exaile(like "exaile &"). If I press CTRL-Z to stop ,some programs errs out , "watch dog time out" and "aborts" the process.
The problem is bg,disown or jobs etc does not list the process if I ran from another terminal. I want to know ways by Which I can detach a graphical/non-graphical process from a terminal as well as to re-attach to the terminal.
I have custom built Linux kernel (2.6.31) and also xorg. xorg is using xserver 1.7.3 . I have an application which simulates the mouse and sends mouse move events. When I switch the device on, the system boots and Xorg comes up, I can see X cursor on the system. When I start sending mouse move events from the application, the cursor do not move. If I attach mouse to the device and then move the mouse, from this point onwards the mouse events get detected from the simulation application. I have checked the dmesg log as follows

I just upgraded to FC14 (64) from FC13 (32) and the mouse middle button (simultaneous left+right button) paste function has stopped working. I tested it with 3 makes/models of different mice and trackballs. For some reason (left+right) mouse returns the same code as the single right-button ('xev' value = 3). This worked in all previous FC and RH distros I've used in the past. Did a default setting get zonked somewhere? System: Toshiba laptop w/ USB mouse.

So i asked for help, and everybody just say install windows. And where is fun in that. If people when ever run into problem with some software on linux just install windows. I have a file opened in vi running in a terminal(xterm), if I directly closes the terminal without first closing the file then I can see the vi still running in the background(ps x). Now is there any way to attach that process i.e. vi to some other terminal so that I can continue my work on the file. I have also tried fd command but it fails.
