General :: Right-click On Mouse Not Working On Fedora 11
Mar 24, 2010
I have Fedora 11 installed on my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop, and have been using the installation for many months. Just this past couple of days, the 'right-click' on the mouse (whether using the trackpad mouse on the latop or an external mouse) has stopped working, but not completely. I can still right-click in firefox, on the bar at the top of screen, in a terminal window, etc. However, right-click is not working on the desktop, that is I can not right-click on a folder or a file. Nothing happens. If I right-click on the trash-can, nothing. So I know the mouse buttons are fine as right-click does work in firefox.
i am suffering from very strange problem.i am using red hat and my mouse right click is not working in it.my mouse is ok i have checked it on windows system
when i click my mouse on something, it sometimes registers as two clicks. it doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be annoying. for example, when i click a videos video to pause it, it often opens into fullscreen (which you normally click twice to do). also, in the url bar of chromium, i can't select the entire url by clicking. i now need to use ctrl+a. that's also because when i try to select the url, the highlight randomly disappears.
if i have multiple windows open, my click on the first "x" of the top-most window also closes the next window. i'm on linux mint 10. it's not really important, but it drives me crazy sometimes when my mouse doesn't work the way i want it to.
I try to configure mouse click interval since a single click is recognized as double click by doing it from KDE mouse configuration in system settings; but my attempt doesn't work even (I set the click interval to 2 sec, but doesn't change anything). What is the best way to do this in slackware?
i just installed ubuntu through windows installer, the problem is that some times my mouse stop working i cannot click any where but i can open some stuff with my keyboard . when i open my browser with keyboard my mouse starts working , but still cant click on the top menus like volume , mails , or shutdown restart etc ... but when i right click on an empty page of the browser again my mouse stops working ... right know i am only working with keyboar
Yesterday I installed Maverick (32bit), fixed the soundcard and everything worked very well. In particular my touchscreen (eturbotouch) worked now for the first time. Unfortunately there is a problem with the mouse. After some time the left mouse button stops working. There is no problem with the right button and with the movement of the cursor. I tried several mices, therefore the problem shouldn't be related to the mouse hardware.
i found a strange problem in my redhat linux 5 enterprise edition. I use it in VMware. The issue in my desktop is icons are hidden and mouse right click menu is not displayed. i hope this issue not with mouse.unable to explore the data and no network access in graphical mode. kindly solve this issue please. it was working fine before.
iam using centos 5.4 and configured samba server and nfs server for fileserver.my problem is that when i login into root and saw desktop doesnot show any icon like computer ,trash , root home, and many others file which i saved in desktop. And also right click of mouse does not pop up menu.At the panel in side places there is "desktop" menu.but when i clicked on it , it gives error , files not found in its path. how to recover gnome desktop.or how can i get my desktop icon back...
About a week ago I installed some updates. What they were I don't remember. After I did that my mouse started acting up. Now about half the time when I single click it registers as a double click. Also when I click and drag to select text anywhere it'll randomly do another click screwing up that process.
So far I think the problem is when I press the left mouse button it registers the left click and then when I release, it randomly registers another left click.
The mouse itself works fine if I take it to another PC that's using windows.

If I normally click the Trash icon either in Kmail or in Evolution more than one mail gets deleted in a sequential order! I have to press the click button extremely light to avoid this problem. I have confirmed this problem is not only with the Email clients but even with most other normal applications too. I have changed my mouse twice but the problem persists. Both were USB mice. Below I have provided log information :

I just upgraded from F11 to F12. Everything seems to be nice except mouse. The mouse buttons (both left and right, except middle one) are accidently frozen for some times. It could happen when opening a new tab in Firefox, launching a program, opening a new windows. I cannot click anywhere but can use mouse wheel. I have to log off/ log in and it becomes normal. It does not happen so frequently (around 3-4 hours) but it is really annoying.
I've installed Fedora 14 in a PC. It runs an application where particular event execute by clicking the left mouse button.Problem is that, left button click doesn't work properly. Sometime event executes with simple double click and sometimes after 5-7 double clicks only, event execute.
I have install fedora11 live and the mouse work well when installing. When you reboot the mouse works ok until the welcome screen apears then the mouse stops working and I cannot continue with the postinstall. I have a 1TB usb externalHD that I am installing fedora11 and have partitioned it so that I have 500Gb free for fedora, system is doucore 2.4,4gb RAm, I tryed doing this with three differend mice and connectting the mouse to different usb ports
I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 recently converted to run Fedora 13. Everything seems fine except the touchpad mouse doesn't work outside the X-Window. When I boot to full multi-user mode, the mouse doesn't work at all. I think this is responsible for the typical UNIX copy & paste by selecting and right clicking not to work within GUI. Here's the output of
I'm running Virtualbox on Windows Vista.I have a Microsoft USB mouse (it says "Comfort Optical Mouse 3000") with left and right buttons, and a mousewheel in the middle. If I press down on the wheel, it pretty obviously makes a "click".I'm running Debian inside Virtualbox, and it's working great, but middle-mouse-click does nothing.Left and right click, and scrolling with the wheel, work fine.Is there any way to get middle-mouse-click to work in my virtual machine?
I had to change batteries on Rocketfish bluetooth mouse. The mouse re-installed fine, but when I use the mouse I have to double-click to make it work. How can I change it to work on one click?
I have fedora 10 installed on vmware, running on win7. today when I try to start up fedora, after logging in, I faced this error: Oops! sealert hit an error! ..... there is no space left on device..... could not attach t desktop process... when I click "ok" button I just can see a black page and a mouse cursur circling forever..I really need to work with my fedora beacause i dont have any backup of my files ... btw, I allocated 8g hard disk to my machine on vmware. I don't have any idea how to boot and login from a console not a gui
just want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.

I cannot right click with my mouse on the gnome applications menu to get the properties/edit menu option. This is on F12 on 64bit. Instead I get: "help, remove from panel, lock panel". I dont have this problem with anything else on the top bar.

Turns out I have to install package alacarte and then go to System > Preferences > Main Menu
I am currently using Debian 8.1 64bit with openbox as a WM. I have multi arch enabled. I remember also having this problem with Debian 7. I use nvidia graphics drivers over the nouveau as I would like the hardware acceleration. I have had this problem with two different "gaming" mice. But the mouse I am currently using is a Corsair M65 Gaming Mouse.
The matter of hand is about once a week my mouse tends to misbehave. I can move the mouse around but I cannot click on any windows or select any options by clicking. I cannot even right click on the desktop! I have tried starting X in another tty and the issue tends to persist shortly after starting X. The weird part is other days of the week the mouse works completely fine.
Having this problem in the first place, I have a snoop around and I learnt that I needed to create a config file for the mouse.
I have created a file in: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d named 50-vmmouse.conf with the contents of:
I have also tried putting the same data into an xorg.conf file, but alas the problem still exists.
Just to note, I have not tried using a basic mouse for a week, so I cannot pass any data on that. But I prefer the issue to be resolved with the mouse I enjoy using.
This is really frustrating as it stops me from using my system properly, the only solution tends to be to restart the machine. It would be nice for my mouse to work 100% of the time knowing it'll work.
Mouse misbehaves about once a week, tried different config files but no avail.
Mouse: MS Notebook Optical 3000, with left, right buttons and a vertical scroll wheel in the middle
How do I configure or set up mouse action such that an option to delete or move to trash is also included when hitting the right mouse button? As shown below, the "standard menu" does not include this action:
Right clicking desktop > Desktop Settings > Plasma Desktop Shell
Middle button: Paste
Left button: Standard Menu (std. menu/application launcher/paste/switch windows/switch activity/switch desktop)
