OpenSUSE :: Unable To Connect The Repositories
Jul 24, 2010Is anyone else having problems with the repositories today?
View 4 RepliesIs anyone else having problems with the repositories today?
View 4 RepliesI am running Suse 11.1 64bit, with KDE, recently I received a pop up on my screen, "something about update problems", I used Yast 2 and selected online Update and it couldn't find updates for Nvidia and froze at that point. I dis-enabled that repository and refreshed all of the remaining Repositories individually and it seemed to work. I then went to the repositories listing and selected "Add" and selected "community" repositories and received the following: WARNING Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. What is my problem? How do I acquire the list of community repositories? I can live with out the Nvidia repository for now but would eventually like to get it back.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Suse 11.1.I do the following:
Click on Software Repositories
Click Add
Click Community Repositories
Click Next.
I receive an error, "Unable to download list of Repositories or no repositories defined."
in the /etc/YaST2/control.xml the external repository is:download.opensuse.org/YaST/Repos/openSUSE_111_Servers.xml
When I try to do an online update, I get this error:
message: Couldn't resolve host 'download.opensuse.org
I have read everything I can find about this issue but can't resolve it. All my browsers are fine and connect ok. I am connected by DSL through a modem to the AT&T network I have disabled ipv6 in network devices network settings - is there anything else I should do?.
I currently installed openSUSE 11.3 on my laptop. I need to install some packages from repositories, but I had problem. When I add new repository (Index of /pub/packman/suse/11.2/x86_64), error dialog box show up. Here is wahat is written on the dialog box:
Error code: connection failde
Error message: could'nt connect to host
Is it network/internet problem configured on my installation, or admin disable/restricted connection to the host.
Annoying problems I have with Yast2 Software Management?
1. Sometimes when starting Yast2 Software Management it fails to connect to the SW repositories. It happens inevitably (i.e. without exception) at the first attempt after a fresh boot up, and sometimes otherwise. I can only retry or abort, and retrying usually brings no success anyway. Is it perhaps due to a time-out somewhere?
2. If I click on the 'abort' button (see above) or 'cancel' in Yast otherwise, I inevitably (i.e. without exception) get the following type of error message
Code:
** (<unknown>:4220): CRITICAL **: giop_thread_request_push: assertion `tdata != NULL' failed
** (<unknown>:4220): CRITICAL **: giop_thread_request_push: assertion `tdata != NULL' failed
** (<unknown>:4220): CRITICAL **: giop_thread_request_push: assertion `tdata != NULL' failed
** (<unknown>:4220): CRITICAL **: giop_thread_request_push: assertion `tdata != NULL' failed
(sometimes only 2 identical lines of error code)
I am running OpenSuse 11.3 with Gnome.
Just reinstalled kde 11.3 on second hd. Everything seems to be okay except for getting additional repositories. Under yast I get the message unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. Any ideas on what I can check?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter I upgraded from KDE 4.5 to KDE 4.6 I ran into a problem with changing the the status of different repoes from enabled to disabled, and vice versa. As I only did a desktop upgrade it is perhaps just a coincidence and hence the problem may be related to something different. But in any case, if I tick or untick the 'enable' or 'disable' option within the Yast module Software Repositories for the repo I wish to activate or deactivate, nothing happens. Deleting and readding the repoes has no effect, neither has rebuilding the rpm db or zypper refresh. I'm not very familiar with the command-line for these operations so I am grateful if anyone could give me a hint on what to try next.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter testing Opensuse 11.4 since it was released, I decided to go back to version 11.3. After installing 11.3 I find I cannot add the community repositories, such as Nvidia, Packman, etc. It attempts to download the repository list but gives the following error message : Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. I've used this DVD before and it installed perfectly. I then tried installing 11.3 from a network cd but got the same error when trying to add a repository. At this point I don't know what to do. Joe
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am meeting some problems on my opensuse 11.2 system in the last week, I see an higher load on CPU and the system seems to swap a lot of time. Checking on dmesg I found that at boot time I have a lot of errors: I paste a little part of the full log at the end of this post
If I am not wrong I have found and installed an official opensuse 11.2 kernel update through zypper some days ago Moreover, actually I am not able to use yast package manager because it seems to crash during repositories refresh (or just after it)

I'm trying to setup PS3 media server on my new OpenSuse 11.2 and I'm being unable to connect to the PS3. The multimedia server seems to being working ok, only it has not appear on XMB.
I've been searching on PS3 Media Server forums and try a couple of solutions regarding /etc/hosts and adding full qualified domain name of server to it, but it doesn't seems to work.
I recently installed 11.4 32bit on my computer at my summer home. I carry a DVD with all my /home data. Then today I noticed that all my repositories are labeled "11.3" repositories. Everything works. Here is the output from "zypper lr -d"...

What is the correct method of moving to the 11.4 repositories?
I just did a clean install of Fedora 12 on a system running Fedora 11.
I'm behind a proxy, and I followed the steps outlined at [url] to fix the initial repository error.
This is what I get now:
Code:
My /etc/hosts.conf looks like this

So, I've been using Ubuntu (currently 10.04 lucid) for a while now and have added several repositories to my software sources before with never a problem, but now when I try to add a new repository the 'add source' button won't highlight and I am unable to add the repository. Does anyone have any idea why this might be because it is severely irritating me right now and I really don't want to have to completely reinstall Ubuntu to fix this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed 11.2 on an older HP Laptop which was running XP without any issues. Durring the install, the update processe failed (presumably unble to connect to respository). I am usind a wired connection and the nic is connecting to my router and is recieving an address via DHCP. I am also able to ping the workstion from the router's Web interface. However I am unbale to connect to the internet.I have turned off the Suse firewall via Yast and checked the settings against another computer running ver 11.1 .Everything appears to be correct but no joy.

I am trying to connect to wireless broadband using SuSE 11.2 and a Huawei E160E USB modem, through Internode Australia.
Networkmanager does not seem to recognise the modem so I am trying other means. I believe I have got wvdial to connect (it reports a correct IP address, the light on the stick goes solid blue and I can ping external IP addresses). However it can't find a DNS nameserver and I can't work out how to provide one to wvdial, and therefore can't do anything through the connection (I would rather not revert to ifup because this laptop travels between WLANs). I followed swerdna's comprehensive instructions on setting up a wireless broadband modem in YAST, but I got lost on the very last instruction: KMenu --> KInternet. I can't find this on my application launcher.
There is now constantly an alert on my top panel saying that I need to update my repositories. However, when I go to do this (I'm assuming that I'm doing this correctly--by clicking "Check") not all are updated and the alert remains. Here is the error message I receive:

I just installed 11.04 and found that the debugger gui, kdbg, is no longer in the repositories. I have all repos enabled except backports. I also tried to find any information about the fate of kdbg, whether it is just not yet packaged for 11.04, or whether it is discontinued, but to no avail.
If it is being discontinued, I'll probably roll my own .deb package and post it somewhere - kdbg is too good to drop, I think. And while we are at it?
I've upgraded to Ubuntu Maverick and have not been able to connect to the repositories. I get the following for every listed repository.Err http://us.archive.ubuntu.com maverick-security/universe i386 Packages 400 Bad Request ( The data is invalid. )I can access this archive from my web browser.I have set http_proxy. have tried other repositories.very apt-get update gives the same errors.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have just re-installed Ubuntu 10.04. -The installation went smoothly, completing in approximately 25-30 minutes. All of my hardware, including keyboard, mouse, monitor and network interface has been detected and works properly. I am currently using the machine to type this. I can browse the web using Mozilla Firefox. My network connection does not start and stop; the machine remains connected with no indication that there is a fault with the NIC, and so on. I am able to download files at 150-170kB/s as is normal for me with Firefox.
I have not yet installed a graphical user interface to configure the firewall. I have not in any way worked with any system files. I am using the same hardware that I have used for approximately one year before this with no incident. I first encountered this with my previous install at approximately 3:00 AM (local time,) when I manually started Update Manager and attempted to check for updates in the default repositories. I have not altered the repository list in either the previous install or this new install. The Update Manager is entirely default.
Upon checking for updates, the list of repositories hangs after I believe at least ten lists have been checked. All of the lists checked before this hangup read "0 B" in the downloaded section of the window. It appears that upon checking for updates, no actual data is transferred to my computer. Again, after going through several of the default repo lists, the entire process halts. A wait of approximately ten minutes still reads that the process has not continued. -During this time I am able to browse the web using Firefox, and the OS seems to be responsive and otherwise functional. There is not a slow response from the keyboard or mouse, there are also no graphics glitches. Again, this problem first occurred with my previous install of Ubuntu 10.04, which was up-to-date as of approximately midnight last night. I have reinstalled the OS and the problem persists. The symptoms of this problem are consistent between my previous install and the reinstall.
I have installed and setup 3G which works perfectly fine. I use sakis3g scripts for connecting to 3G network. My VPN profile created with network manager (client/NetworkManager GUI) works well.
#cnetworkmanager --activate-connection=user,'XXXXX_vpn_singapore',wlan0,&
Now when I do the same with using using ppp0 (which is after connecting to VPN) I get the following error messages. #cnetworkmanager --activate-connection=user,'XXXXX_vpn_singapore',ppp0,&

and probably to perform other tasks requiring root privileges (?).I don't know very much about polkit, so I don't know if I'm not missing (or messing up) something.This is the error I get under 11.4:This is the expected behavior (11.3)No matter if I run Gnome, Kde or another de. The process highlighted in red on picture 2 is the one started when a user click on connecting. It fails to start on 11.4 - probably due to my own mistake (?) but I don't know. I could start virt-manager with gnomesu, kdesu or xdg-su -c, that would just start the program as root, but it shouldn't be necessary
