I am running Suse 11.1 64bit, with KDE, recently I received a pop up on my screen, "something about update problems", I used Yast 2 and selected online Update and it couldn't find updates for Nvidia and froze at that point. I dis-enabled that repository and refreshed all of the remaining Repositories individually and it seemed to work. I then went to the repositories listing and selected "Add" and selected "community" repositories and received the following: WARNING Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. What is my problem? How do I acquire the list of community repositories? I can live with out the Nvidia repository for now but would eventually like to get it back.
After testing Opensuse 11.4 since it was released, I decided to go back to version 11.3. After installing 11.3 I find I cannot add the community repositories, such as Nvidia, Packman, etc. It attempts to download the repository list but gives the following error message : Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. I've used this DVD before and it installed perfectly. I then tried installing 11.3 from a network cd but got the same error when trying to add a repository. At this point I don't know what to do. Joe
Just reinstalled kde 11.3 on second hd. Everything seems to be okay except for getting additional repositories. Under yast I get the message unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. Any ideas on what I can check?
The red updater icon alerted me to about a dozen patches, which started to install, then halted with an error: Download failure from download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/repo/non-oss. When I try to update repositories, the same error recurs for that repo and also for .../oss and download.opensuse.org/update/11.2/,
If I attempt to "register for support to get update repository," clicking on Configure Now and Next produces the same three error messages: "Failed to download", one for each repository. The screen then returns to Registration, with another error message "an error occurred while connecting to the server". Clicking on the Detail button show exactly "ERROR:"
This AMD desktop machine with this install of 11.2 has updated many times in the last few weeks. Has something changed? The update servers do respond to a ping, so they are up and apparently I have connectivity.
i've just upgraded to Natty, and there are lots of 3rd party software sources that were disabled during the upgrade, and i've enabled them again. But then when i try to refresh my update cache, they fail to download. these are the list of software sources that fail to download:
W:Failed to fetch http://linux.dropbox.com/ubuntu/dist...amd64/Packages 404 Not Found , W:Failed to fetch http://download.virtualbox.org/virtu...amd64/Packages 404 Not found , W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/alecive/ant...source/Sources 404 Not Found

and now most of these softwares appear in my 'computer janitor' to be removed (which obviously i wouldn't want that..
I am new to OPEN SUSE. I installed 11.4 without any problems. It is working fine. I did Multimedia install with oneclick option. All the updates were done. Today while going thru forums FAQ, I saw repositories list and their priorities. When I checked my repositories in YAST, there was no PACKMAN so added the PACKMAN repository. I noticed in Software Manager there is Upgrades OpenSuse-release 11.4-1.8 - 11.4-1.9! What does this mean?
After upgrading to 11.2 I'm trying to install required codecs for restricted formats and following the advice that is given, and starting at "Step 1", making sure that I have at least the OSS, non-OSS etc. repos.
For some reason, when I try to add community repositories through yast, I get a Warning pop-up, stating "Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined".
Am I doing something wrong? If tried about 20 times...and so far no luck.
I just installed ubuntu because the newer versions were not working for me. So I installed 7.10 and there is no repositories that are still up. Is there any repositories that I could add from the newer ones or other distro repositories.
I recently installed 11.4 32bit on my computer at my summer home. I carry a DVD with all my /home data. Then today I noticed that all my repositories are labeled "11.3" repositories. Everything works. Here is the output from "zypper lr -d"...

What is the correct method of moving to the 11.4 repositories?
After I upgraded from KDE 4.5 to KDE 4.6 I ran into a problem with changing the the status of different repoes from enabled to disabled, and vice versa. As I only did a desktop upgrade it is perhaps just a coincidence and hence the problem may be related to something different. But in any case, if I tick or untick the 'enable' or 'disable' option within the Yast module Software Repositories for the repo I wish to activate or deactivate, nothing happens. Deleting and readding the repoes has no effect, neither has rebuilding the rpm db or zypper refresh. I'm not very familiar with the command-line for these operations so I am grateful if anyone could give me a hint on what to try next.
I am meeting some problems on my opensuse 11.2 system in the last week, I see an higher load on CPU and the system seems to swap a lot of time. Checking on dmesg I found that at boot time I have a lot of errors: I paste a little part of the full log at the end of this post
If I am not wrong I have found and installed an official opensuse 11.2 kernel update through zypper some days ago Moreover, actually I am not able to use yast package manager because it seems to crash during repositories refresh (or just after it)
I'm experiencing a strange issue with my Ubuntu 10.10 since a few days:when trying to update the packages list, a lot of repositories are ignored. Here is the output of
How come all these repositories cannot be hit?is there any way to make the update hit there repositories? And if they're useless, no longer supported, how can I remove them so to have a tidy repositories list?
When trying to update, there comes a problem with a missing key. I'm figuring you need to update that key to download from the repositories. I'm a little stumped on how to get the key or renew it.
i want to knw where can i find the list of all the repositories from where rpm and yum fetches the package and also the location where all the packages are installed by rpm and yum
I got this error message when installing Fedora 11 by an installlation DVD (download from [URL]) Unable to read group information from repositories. This is a problem with the generation of your install tree. This error message appeared after the step that the installer asked me to choose where to install boot loader and configure the GRUB boot menu. The error message came with two button: [Retry] and [Exit installer].
I am still having trouble installing Debian 6.0.1a (Squeeze) from either CD #1 (KDE version) or netinst version. I tried for a few months to install Squeeze with KDE desktop; now I am trying to build a server, which seems easier (no X.org and KDE problems to worry about.)
Part of the problem common to all my failed attempts (about a dozen!) seems to be that the installer tries to get packages or updates/upgrades from repos but for some reason fails.
I have a commercial all-in-one dslmodem/router/firewall which has very, very limited monitoring capabalities, just enough to show that the PC in question contacted the expected repos (I tried several in different regions) and also shows that no DNS requests failed during that time frame. I did try decreasing the security of the commercial firewall, but that seems to make no difference. I did try to save the install logs, but they didn't fit on a floppy. Any idea what could be going wrong?
I'm user of Fedora 11. Back this weekend the official repositories works 100% I can download packages with 100 kbytes. This weekend cannot download packages, only with 3 Kbytes! PTM! What is happening?
I am trying to dual boot Vista and F10 and I have 2 different 400GB hard drives to do it on. On the first HD, I have Vista installed but when I try to install F10 on the second, I get this error message:
Quote: Error: Unable to read group information from repositories. this is a problem with the generation of your install tree. I've looked it up and found some forums but none answer how to "fix" it (if it is indeed something that you fix).
I'm doing a Kickstart install of Fedora 11 with a DVD ISO as the installation source and the ks.cfg file in the root folder of the DVD. The error message I get is: "Unable to read group information from repositories. This is a problem with the generation of your install tree."
So, I've been using Ubuntu (currently 10.04 lucid) for a while now and have added several repositories to my software sources before with never a problem, but now when I try to add a new repository the 'add source' button won't highlight and I am unable to add the repository. Does anyone have any idea why this might be because it is severely irritating me right now and I really don't want to have to completely reinstall Ubuntu to fix this.
There is now constantly an alert on my top panel saying that I need to update my repositories. However, when I go to do this (I'm assuming that I'm doing this correctly--by clicking "Check") not all are updated and the alert remains. Here is the error message I receive:
Code: Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/dists/lucid/Release.gpg Something wicked happened resolving 'archive.canonical.com:http' (-5 - No address associated with
I just installed 11.04 and found that the debugger gui, kdbg, is no longer in the repositories. I have all repos enabled except backports. I also tried to find any information about the fate of kdbg, whether it is just not yet packaged for 11.04, or whether it is discontinued, but to no avail.
If it is being discontinued, I'll probably roll my own .deb package and post it somewhere - kdbg is too good to drop, I think. And while we are at it?
I've upgraded to Ubuntu Maverick and have not been able to connect to the repositories.
