View 5 RepliesI am trying to use Banshee to sync my 5th generation iPod nano on a Lenovo laptop. When I plug the iPod in, it is recognized just fine by Banshee, however when I click on the iPod icon it tells me that it is unable to read the iPod because it has been used with a version of iTunes that saves a version of the database that Banshee can't recognize.
All of this is fine. I click on rebuild iPod database since I have no intention of using iTunes in the future with this iPod, and I don't mind losing the playlists or songs on the iPod (I have them all on the computer). The database rebuilds normally from all appearances, and after a short time I am able to read all songs on the iPod and transfer things back and forth.
The frustration comes into play with the fact that next time I load up the iPod on Banshee, it asks for the exact same process. It is unable to read the iPod, needs to rewrite the database, etc..
Is there some way to permanently alter the database that I'm missing, or is this an issue with 5th generation compatibility?
I manage a computer remotely in a different country. The last upgrade I did (to openSUSE 11.2) seems to have had one issue that I didn't work out until later. I am unable to "Online Update" or "Software Manage" the system. Whenever I do I get the following error:
[Code]....
I have been through a number of attempted fixes via the thread 434687-software-repository-corruption but have not managed to resolve the issue. There is no one at the location that could repeat the "update" to hopefully fix the issue that way. I have a copy of the 11.2 DVD iso file on the remote computer. Is there some way that I can get the repository DB rebuilt or reinstalled so that I can then install other software and do Online Updates? Whatever I try has to be doable with the system running so that I can OpenVPN connect and issue commands remotely.
Because I was getting some package errors, I ran the Repair Installed System option that shows up after boot. During System Check when earching for package databases,YaST2 is not able to find /var/lib/rpm/Filemd5s. After a while, a YaST2 box pops up and says that it Successfully rebuilt the package databaseïbut I get the same error when I run System Check again. I've chosen both Rebuild Package Database as well as Revert to Original Package Database (saved by YaST)In both cases, it saysat it was successful, but the same error occurs the next time I run System Check

I have a Red Hat Enterprise (AS) 4.8 system and I need to know how to totally rebuild the system from dump tape. I have been making some full level 0 dumps of the system to the attached DAT72 tape drive... In the case the boot disk goes south, I need to reload from tape, onto a new disk drive. I know how to do this in Solaris. I assume you boot from CD to like a mini-root, then configure and mount the drive on temp mount points, restore the sys data, then load the "boot blocks" (like installboot on solaris).

I also had the network scripts and iptables backed up. Through virt-manager I re-attached the virtual machine, and when I boot it, I get a MAC address conflict on the vm's eth0; "Device eth0 has a different MAC address than expected". The vm had a static ip address.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with my coding. Here is the problem: I have a database with a list of products. I can list all the products OK At the side of each product I have an EDIT and DELETE button. The delete button works fine and deletes the item. The EDIT button displays a form with all the details from the database. I can then edit this form and click on UPDATE. This is the code that I have to update the database:
$group = $_REQUEST['group'];
$description = $_REQUEST['description'];
$quantity = $_REQUEST['quantity'];
$price = $_REQUEST['price'];
$type = $_REQUEST['type'];
$type2 = $_REQUEST['type2'];
$order = $_REQUEST['order'];
$status = $_REQUEST['status'];
[Code]....
I cannot see anything wrong with this code. But when I click on UPDATE (in the form), I get Error in executing UPDATE exhausts SET group = 'Alloy Silencers', description = 'RS 125 Aprilia', quantity = '1', price = '57.00', type = 'alloy', type2 = 'all', order = '', status = '1' WHERE id = '3' query
error:1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'group = 'Alloy Silencers', description = 'RS 125 Aprilia', quantity = '1', price' at line 1I have used this code many time before in other projects without problems.
I always install the Ubuntu Updates that automatically pop up every few days.
Today I installed the update and it wiped out my entire Evolution database.
The Evolution e-mails and e-mail history are still there, but not a single Contact.
Is there any way to 'uninstall' today's update or go back to a time before it was implemented?
Is anyone else having this problem? I do have a database backup, but its about a month old. So I don't want to import it unless there is no way to get the current version back.
I upgraded my Dell 2.53G machine from 10.3 to 11.2 (KDE desktop). Everything seemed fine for the first day. Then the whole desktop froze. No screen update, no keyboard, and, though you could see the mouse move, clicking didn't do anything. The only way out was to pull the plug.
After multiple attempts at fixing it failed, I repartitioned the disk and tried a "clean install". Everything worked for about 2 hours. The system is currently frozen. The harddrive is quiet. The only "3rd party app" was Adobe Flash, pulled from the Non-OSS repository.
i have running more than 50 servers with openSUSE 11.2 for a long time without any problems. After upgrading 30 server to 11.3 some of them are freeezing after one or two days. I can ping, but i cannot log in. At the console i can type in the user and the nothing happens, system has to reboot.
All servers are Hewlett Packard Proliant G4,G5,G6 with 32bit and 64bit. No errors or hints in the systemlog.
Recently i add a lot of repositories for new apps but do0ing a zypper up after that left left many things broken ,first the my system has added 2 more entries in grub menu namely, opensuse 11.3 desktop-2.6.34.7 and opensuse 11.3 desktop-2.6.34.7-(failsafe) why are these added and now when I simply boot opensuse11.3 from menu though it starts but has no sound and typical errors shown .
Firefox is broken. how could I reach a stable state now I have these repos only code...
Just installed fresh FC14. I built/installed a project with some new man-pages. I'd like to update the apropos/man database. makewhatis was still present in FC13.
View 6 Replies View RelatedBeen trying to get itunes going in unbuntu 11.04. Tried gtkpod and it kept crashing when trying to update database. Looked into itunes thru wine. I think I could load it in wine but all my mp3's are on a linux box - ext4. From what I understand, wine will look to a windows partition for the mp3's. I know windows cannot read ext4. All I need itunes for is to load and delete songs on a shuffle ipod. Don't need itunes store, etc so I don't care if that part works or not. Before I go to the trouble of itunes on wine: Is this assumption correct?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 11.1 on a computer. I updated it yesterday. Now K3B, VLC, and XDVDShrink are all broken. Possibly other programs broken as well. VLC refuses to uninstall via Yast. These are high-priority programs for this computer. Multiple people use this computer for multimedia and there is not much to entertain ourselves with in our very cold climate. In other words, it is mandatory that K3B, VLC and XDVDShrink return to operational status.
Should I just upgrade to 11.3, try to fix the broken 11.1? I prefer using KDE3, not KDE4, but I can sacrifice.
After last kernel update (2.6.31.8) when I try to connect to access-point my system freeze.

I am running tests on doing a postgreSQL restore, and part of the procedure is to import the dump file into the database. The database, version 8.1.3,s from HP-UX Internet Express Version A.14.00 Bundle and was installed onto an HP-UX 11.11 server.As part of the testing process, I was planning on setting up a Linux system with the latest available version of PostgreSQL, and import the dump file generated on the HP-UX server into database on the Linux system. Once that was done, we would connect to the latter system, and test the database.My questions are the following:1. Can the dump file be imported to a remote system rather than the one that generated it?2. Is this a good test to determine the viability of the dump file?

Currently, I have a Microsoft Access database which I would like to use in either OS. I understand that Access probably won't work in Linux so I am willing to go to a different DB application as long as I can access it from both operating systems. Database is very simple. It allows you to input into an Access Form and then allows you to print a simply one page report based on the data just entered.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently trying to build an Accounts system database for a project. When you run the program it goes in the main menu sort of like this.
Accounts System
Add a Customer With a Contract......1
Add a Customer Without a Contract...2
Display all Customers...............3
Find a Customer.....................4
Edit a Customer.....................5
Print a Statement...................6
Print an Invoice....................7
Load File...........................8
Save and Exit.......................9
When you add a customer with a contract, you add name, address, start contract, end contract, payment and email address. Now, is there a code I could write to get back to this menu. To not confuse anyone, all I just saying is supposing I accidentally push number 1 on the keyboard and suppose I didn't want to add a customer. In other words I need a code that can cancel (or stop) adding a customer to go back to the accounts system menu.

Toshiba notebook is set up to triple boot win7, mepis 8.5 and os 11.3.Recent update of os11.3 left system with boot failure, "file not found".I booted mepis and used utility to reinstall grub, but no joy.
Appeared to install ok but on reboot, sda5 identified as 'mepis' not os11.3 and would not boot. Win7 & mepis boot ok.
Next, booted live Parted Magic and repaired as per another thread here, but again, no joy.NONE of the systems will boot.Rebooted mepis live cd and reinstalled grub again. Sda5 still identified as mepis and will not boot. Win7 & mepis boot ok.
