keep getting this error when trying to download RPM files and launching them.
KLauncher could not be reached via D-Bus. Error when calling start_service_by_desktop_path:
Not connected to D-Bus server
In both my updater applet and in YAST, I keep getting the error that:
download failed:
download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.2/repodata/repomd.xml
I'm using cURL in ubuntu to download some files like
While some files may be missing from this sequence but when I just use curl -O [url]
cURL will download a 404 error page for those missing ones. How can I avoid this?

I am debugging a project and I noticed the .so files from my installed version of this project are being used when I run the main executable. However what I want is that the modified and compiled libraries (.so files) are being used. This is for testing the software. So I don't want to install these. I tried adding the directory with the .so files in /etc/ld.so.conf and doing ldconfig. However that did not seem to work. How can I let the main executable use the modified .so? I also want to debug this using gdb, so if someone knows what I should do to get those modified .so files being used for execution.

but the file exists. If I uncheck the Allow execute as a program the error is

I used the sudo command.
(I tried to change the folder permissions to read and write, cause if I didn't, then the file, when not in nautilus, had an x in the top right of the icon. Before this it didn't work anyway)
I have just installed Apache2 v. 2.2.17 on Ubuntu,and I am trying to get it to work with Ruby (v 1.8.7). I have followed the instructions on the Ubuntu site and ended up installing Phusion Passenger v 3.0.7, making the suggested changes to the httpd.conf file.
When I launch Apache2 I now get the message:

I've been burning a few linux ISOs lately to play around on a desktop I have (archlinux, Fedora, etc) and a few days ago Brasero stopped launching. I tried to uninstall/reinstall Brasero, but it still didn't work. There we no error messages, it would just try to start up, and quit.
I got frustrated and tried to run Brasero from the command line and got this:

This AMD desktop machine with this install of 11.2 has updated many times in the last few weeks. Has something changed? The update servers do respond to a ping, so they are up and apparently I have connectivity.

I haved tried 3 times to download DVD-7 from http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/...md64/jigdo-dvd, and every time it has failed with just 5 files left to download.

kate is my favorite text editor, and everything was working fine until recently. Whenever launching Kate, whether by opening a text file or by clicking the Kate icon, a dialog box pops up that KDEInit could not launch 'konsole'. In the background, a konsole window flashes briefly before disappearing.The baffling thing is, that if I click the "run Kate" shortcut, instead of the Kate shortcut, then Kate launches normally. I get segmentation fault error while trying to launch eric python IDE. I tried reinstalling a lot of times but with no use. I even tried using a different version but gives the same error. I am only installing it through rpms. here is the stacktrace.

I own a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 1000 which I'm overall pleased with. The keyboard has some extra media and application launching keys which I try to assign in systemsettings>Input Actions. I believe the application is called khotkeys, however I'm not sure. Four different cases occurred as follows: The keys are recognized and can be assigned a command to run. For some reason I was trialing a SUSE 11.1 SP1 version for a while and somehow I have NO clue it attempted to change itself to a OpenSUSE 11.1 System. I have no clue what I did, please don't ask Now though I have been successful in turning into an OpenSUSE 11.2 system by changing the repositories to OpenSUSE 11.2, doing a "zypper refresh", "Zypper in Zypper", "Zypper dup -d", "Zypper dup". I also did a repair and refreshed the base packages with an OpenSUSE 11.2 DVD and that seemed to help also. The only thing it seems I can get right is that yast/yast2 give me this error: Download failed: Failed to download ./repo/repoindex.xml from https://nu.novell.com/?cookies=0&cre...NCCcredentials

i downloaded and try installing opensuse 11.2 on my intel-based imac. but during installing, there keeps pop-up error messages either saying "cannot download xxx files" or "the files have been modified and is danger to use" i run the "check" function after burning .iso file. and it failed too.so what should i do now?
View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday I burnt a couple of CD's with Brasero. Project completed successfully. But.. now if I try and open Nautilus and go to any of my folders under Places>Home/Music/Documents, in fact anywhere, it goes straight into Brasero and seems to think I have an uncompleted project. There is also a box open which promts me to rename/not rename for full Windows or Linux comaptabilty. As of right now I cant get rid of Brasero and get to any folders/files.
