Apr 6, 2010I've got a backlog of diagrams done in kivio (under 11.1), but having gone to 11.2, I now can't find the application anywhere in the repos.

Software :: Unable To Change Page Size In Kivio Print Options
Jul 31, 2009I am running OpenSuSE 11.0 KDE 3.5.9 "release 49.1" with Kivio 1.6.3. I am using Kivio to create large flow charts (paper size is 44in x36in) and I have an HP DesignJet 800PS that is capable of printing documents this size. We handle blue prints occasionally as well as when I have large documents (size wise) to print.
Anyhow I have a table relationship drawing I have created and I need to print it out. Now I have come up with a work around (save the document as PNG, import it into OpenOffice then save as PDF and print...) but when I try to print as PDF, I get the default paper size of A4 and the option to change the paper size is ghosted in Kivio. Also I only get a small segment of the actual drawing.

The installation process starts ok, but later i receive a warning indicating that the opensuse repository can not be found. (download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/repo/oss /)I have checked the network setup and works perfectly, also i can ping download.opensuse.org from console successfully.

Aug 26, 2010I have installed Open Suse 11.3, after giving up on Ubuntu when the latest version would not connect to the internet. In Ubuntu I could always open a terminal to carry out any command line task. In Suse I simply cannot even find one.
I need to find a terminal that I can run in Root in order to load some firmware for a different network adapter, as I am currently using one borrowed from another computer.

Nov 7, 2010I have a CD writer/DVD reader in my laptop. K3B can't find it now. It was working an hour ago, then I upgraded firefox, and now it's not working. My username is added to the "cdrom" group in the Yast user management section. As root, I entered "kde3 k3b" into the shell and it started K3B and found my CD/DVD drive. I don't know why it can't find it as a normal user.

Thunderbird 3.1.9 was released the same day and has yet to show up in the repository I have for Mozilla which is Index of /repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.3
Any idea when this version will be available?

Jan 27, 2010I was trying to build an RPM today and the compilation errored out because the file glibconfig.h couldn't be found. I managed to track it down to the package glib2-devel.The problem is that I couldn't find a way to do this via zypper. In Mandriva I would've just done 'urpmf glibconfig.h' and it would've told me that it's provided by the package glib2-devel.
Is there equivalent functionality in zypper? (glibconfig.h is an easy pick as being related to glib, but some header file names might be more obscure for example)

Feb 24, 2010I've been setting up NIS for the first time. When I have the firewall on, the NIS client can't find the NIS server. When the firewall is off, it can. These are both on the same computer (the server).I have both the NIS client and server opened in the firewall -- all the setup has been done through yast so far.
Is there something else that needs to be done that I missing? Or if not, perhaps it just a minor setup bug in the scripts in which case could someone tell me what ports I would additionally need to open manually in the firewall to make it work that wouldn't already be opened?
On a different note, in a recent discussion on another thread someone told me that openSUSE was going to be unsupported from around May this year -- has anyone heard of this or should I just ignore it? I thought with 40k users registered on the website Novell would find something better to do with all of us rather that just drop us so I am a little skeptical.

However, the software I am trying to compile will not compile with 4.4.1. After contacting the software support, they inform me that it will only compile with 4.2.4. So, I searched yast with no luck. I have found a .tar.bz2 on the internet. I attempted to configure and then build. I get the following error after running the make command.

Feb 8, 2011I'm always struggling with desktop space. Widgets like Folder View and the ability to use the multiple virtual desktops are very helpful for me. I found an article about the KDE Shelf widget which I would love to have as another organizational tool but I can't seem to find it.I am a bit of a newbie with KDE and with Linux in general but I have found and added many widgets with no problem. I have been using computers for about 16 years and I'm pretty tech savvy (but unfortunately my skills have all been learned through Windows and some with Mac in college).
When I go to Add Widgets and type "shelf" in the search withing openSUSE KDE I get no results. I also checked on kde-look.org and an overall Google search but I'm not having any luck.
