View 2 RepliesI am running Suse 11.1 64bit, with KDE, recently I received a pop up on my screen, "something about update problems", I used Yast 2 and selected online Update and it couldn't find updates for Nvidia and froze at that point. I dis-enabled that repository and refreshed all of the remaining Repositories individually and it seemed to work. I then went to the repositories listing and selected "Add" and selected "community" repositories and received the following: WARNING Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. What is my problem? How do I acquire the list of community repositories? I can live with out the Nvidia repository for now but would eventually like to get it back.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to update, there comes a problem with a missing key. I'm figuring you need to update that key to download from the repositories. I'm a little stumped on how to get the key or renew it.

I am running Suse 11.1.I do the following:
Click on Software Repositories
Click Add
Click Community Repositories
Click Next.
I receive an error, "Unable to download list of Repositories or no repositories defined."

View 7 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to 11.2 I'm trying to install required codecs for restricted formats and following the advice that is given, and starting at "Step 1", making sure that I have at least the OSS, non-OSS etc. repos.
For some reason, when I try to add community repositories through yast, I get a Warning pop-up, stating "Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined".
Am I doing something wrong? If tried about 20 times...and so far no luck.
Just reinstalled kde 11.3 on second hd. Everything seems to be okay except for getting additional repositories. Under yast I get the message unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. Any ideas on what I can check?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi've just upgraded to Natty, and there are lots of 3rd party software sources that were disabled during the upgrade, and i've enabled them again. But then when i try to refresh my update cache, they fail to download. these are the list of software sources that fail to download:

and now most of these softwares appear in my 'computer janitor' to be removed (which obviously i wouldn't want that..
I am still having trouble installing Debian 6.0.1a (Squeeze) from either CD #1 (KDE version) or netinst version. I tried for a few months to install Squeeze with KDE desktop; now I am trying to build a server, which seems easier (no X.org and KDE problems to worry about.)
Part of the problem common to all my failed attempts (about a dozen!) seems to be that the installer tries to get packages or updates/upgrades from repos but for some reason fails.
I have a commercial all-in-one dslmodem/router/firewall which has very, very limited monitoring capabalities, just enough to show that the PC in question contacted the expected repos (I tried several in different regions) and also shows that no DNS requests failed during that time frame. I did try decreasing the security of the commercial firewall, but that seems to make no difference. I did try to save the install logs, but they didn't fit on a floppy. Any idea what could be going wrong?
I'm user of Fedora 11. Back this weekend the official repositories works 100% I can download packages with 100 kbytes. This weekend cannot download packages, only with 3 Kbytes! PTM! What is happening?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter testing Opensuse 11.4 since it was released, I decided to go back to version 11.3. After installing 11.3 I find I cannot add the community repositories, such as Nvidia, Packman, etc. It attempts to download the repository list but gives the following error message : Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. I've used this DVD before and it installed perfectly. I then tried installing 11.3 from a network cd but got the same error when trying to add a repository. At this point I don't know what to do. Joe
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe red updater icon alerted me to about a dozen patches, which started to install, then halted with an error: Download failure from download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/repo/non-oss. When I try to update repositories, the same error recurs for that repo and also for .../oss and download.opensuse.org/update/11.2/,
If I attempt to "register for support to get update repository," clicking on Configure Now and Next produces the same three error messages: "Failed to download", one for each repository. The screen then returns to Registration, with another error message "an error occurred while connecting to the server". Clicking on the Detail button show exactly "ERROR:"
This AMD desktop machine with this install of 11.2 has updated many times in the last few weeks. Has something changed? The update servers do respond to a ping, so they are up and apparently I have connectivity.
I an setting up a kubuntu system for my parents and I downloaded and I went to the site and downloaded and burnt the ISO to a DVD and booted the computer from it. I chose to look at the distro first but every time I tried to boot it up the live CD hangs.
I tried to install via text mode and this went through okay and then I tried to boot up and the computer hung. I tried this several times and the same thing happened. Is it a dodgy ISO or is there something else I should be concerned about?
I m getting 40 kbps speed when i am working with windows but when i trying to download from KUBUNTU i cannot get speed is there any solution for that?

Tri-booting. They were installed in the order I listed above. I ran into a few bugs with Kubuntu, so I no longer want to use it. I want to use GParted on a LiveCD to format Kubuntu and expand my Ubuntu home partition to sit on top of Kubuntu's space right now. If I nuke Kubuntu, will Grub still exist with my Ubuntu/XP entries to boot?
First I go to the following URL to download the latest version of VLC Player, which I greatly prefer to Totem or any other standard Linux video/audio player: http://www.fileguru.com/Movie-Player/download. After I click on the "Download" link, a new window appears which asks me if I want to 1) Open with Archive Manager (default) or 2) Save File. There is a drop down arrow next to the first choice which only gives "Other..." as the only other choice. Well, if I choose the first option, the download appears as an .exe file in the "Downloads" window.
A window with "Download Error" in its Title Bar appears with the following message in it: "/tmp/VLC_Player_Setup-3.exe could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences." I don't even know yet how to even open up an .exe file in Linux, despite repeated research.
I've googled, search Fedora yum and every where in between and I can't get a clear understanding on how to add repositories. I need a step by step instruction on how to do.....
I want to add rpmfusion.org, rpmrepo.org, dag.wieers.com/packages and atrpms.net.
I'm following the Bible step by step but it doesn't work.
I would like to apply KDE on my Kubuntu because the current one blew up. But each time I to sudo get-apt it seems to be fetching from the cloud. Is there a way I can make it to read from my local Kubuntu CD? I have both Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Kubuntu Live CDs.
I believe the local disk read should be faster to translate than to bite the bytes across thousands of miles over the wire right?
I recently installed 11.4 32bit on my computer at my summer home. I carry a DVD with all my /home data. Then today I noticed that all my repositories are labeled "11.3" repositories. Everything works. Here is the output from "zypper lr -d"...

Inspired by Knoppix Adriene, I am trying to install it on my netbook. However, I don't want the knoppix repositories since most of them are outdated.
How do I add ubuntu or linux mint's repositories to Knoppix? I guess I need to install the gpg-key also for each repository, correct?
