I can't find the imagemagick package in the repositories. Anybody knows where I could find a binary for that SW? I tried to install from source but failed... Everything seemed fine up to when I tried "sudo make install", and there I got lots of errors. When i try to run any command, it does not find the libraries..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find the location of a package on my linux machine. There are several commands that i have tried like 'rpm -ql kernel-headers-2.6.32-71.18.1.el6.x86_64' but this is no good.
I also tried the following command 'rpm2cpio kernel-headers-2.6.32-71.18.1.el6.x86_64 | cpio --list! But I get a msg saying "kernel-headers-2.6.32-71.18.1.el6.x86_64: No such file or directory"So I decided to download the rpm and when I tried to install it I get "package kernel-headers-2.6.32-71.18.1.el6.x86_64 is already installed"Is there any way I can find out the location of this file??? It is not in any of the /usr folders (bin, lib, lib64, include etc...)
Using rpm -qa | grep -i <pkgname> gives if a package is installed or not.
But, I would like to find out where a package is already installed i.e the location where a particular package is installed say /opt/<pkg>
I am running Suse 11.1 64bit, with KDE, recently I received a pop up on my screen, "something about update problems", I used Yast 2 and selected online Update and it couldn't find updates for Nvidia and froze at that point. I dis-enabled that repository and refreshed all of the remaining Repositories individually and it seemed to work. I then went to the repositories listing and selected "Add" and selected "community" repositories and received the following: WARNING Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. What is my problem? How do I acquire the list of community repositories? I can live with out the Nvidia repository for now but would eventually like to get it back.

in the /etc/YaST2/control.xml the external repository is:download.opensuse.org/YaST/Repos/openSUSE_111_Servers.xml
Like the subjects says everytime I try to install a program using synaptic it says the repositories are not available, even changing the repositories included in it doesn't work, fedora 14 gnome.

When I go to places.network, I see an icon that says Windows Network. If I click on it, I get the message: Unable to mount location, Failed to retrieve share list from server. When I had Ubuntu running on this machine, I had no problem seeing and connecting to the Windows Vista machine.

Is there something I need to enable on the server or my OS(CIFS or something)?
Going from Fedora 12 to 13. Got to the point where I have to reboot to install, system reboots to 12. This is a triple boot system with Open Suse and Mint, and the grub2 bootloader from Mint is the bootloader for the whole shebang. In the "how to use preupgrade" instructions there's a line that says "dentify the drive and partition of your Fedora /boot folder." How? If that sounds odd, consider that in my set up "computer" shows 4 partitions (and with just three operating systems..?). I can mount them, but have a problem telling which sytem is Fedora, Suse or Mint. And getting the FEDORA bootloader to find the PREUPGRADE kernel ... Momma said there'd be days like this.
cat /etc/fstab just returned /dev/sda1 on /boot. I installed Fedora first, before Suse or Mint, so being on the first drive or partition sounds right, but the multiple drives throws me, and "just guessing" doesn't seem like the way to go.
I have spent hours installing different packages and have everything pretty much how I want them. Is there a way to get a list of all the packages and/or save it in a way that should I need to reinstall, I do not miss anything

I don't know why I can't get listed the installed and not installed packages in the "Add and Remove Software" utility in Fedora 11 with KDE Desktop. I have already used it with no problems, but for some reasons I had to reinstall the system, and I got this problem since then. So, I can't remove packages because the list is empty (picture attached), and for the same reason I can't add new sofware from the Installation DVD.

I tried to go back to listing the dependencies, however, I could not find a way to do it. How do I revert to the default behavior, i.e., having gpk-application listing the dependencies again?
I get the following error message when I try to access all of the sections in Add/Remove Sofware;

Today while going thru forums FAQ, I saw repositories list and their priorities. When I checked my repositories in YAST, there was no PACKMAN so added the PACKMAN repository. I noticed in Software Manager there is Upgrades OpenSuse-release 11.4-1.8 - 11.4-1.9! What does this mean?

After installing 11.3 I find I cannot add the community repositories, such as Nvidia, Packman, etc. It attempts to download the repository list but gives the following error message : Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. I've used this DVD before and it installed perfectly. I then tried installing 11.3 from a network cd but got the same error when trying to add a repository. At this point I don't know what to do. Joe

I am trying to install the build-essential package on my new Jaunty install, but I seem to get 404 Not Found for all the repositories. I have tried main repositories, US ones and the ones recommended in Software Sources as being the best choice, but I get the same response. I can't install any packages because of this. View 9 Replies View RelatedRed Hat Desktop 5.5 I think I was successful in screwing up my yum configuration, I might have removed a few repo files too many. I wanted to add rpmforge to my repositories and wanted to install yum-priorities and it is telling me "No package yum-priorities available".
As I am sure it exists and my machine is not finding it it only leaves operator error/screw-up. What are the default repo files for Red Hat desktop and where can I get them?

So I installed it on a laptop (Downloaded the 6 DVDs). Now, how do I add some repositories to Synaptic so I can update my software? Also, is there a list of repositories? So far, every time I want to install something I need to insert one of the DVDs.
