i've been trying to "./configure" the bandwitdhd package. When i do it i get :

I have installed the libpcap and libpcap-devel:

I am trying to install Libpcap version 1.0.0 on Fedora 9. During 'make, i get the following error:
"/usr/bin/install: cannot stat `libpcap.so.1.0.0': No such file or directory
make: *** [install] Error 1"
I am trying to install libpcap and tcpdump, but even if I have already installed Flex, as the terminal tells me to do. What else could I do?

I am trying to update my bandwidthd but it says that i should reinstall it, but when i do that it just throws me an error. I am running Ubuntu 10.04 in case it helps. I am getting really frustrated by this and don't know to fix it because it wont let me uninstall, reinstall, upgrade, or update.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust an FYI for anyone who may be having this particular problem. A short while back, I was trying to attach a picture to a Twitter post, and dropped my network connection. No big deal...connection came back, and things went on. Next time I launched Choqok, it popped up a message saying "Server Error: This method requires authentication". It was puzzling, and didn't appear to impact my use...until I went to send a direct message, and it would give that error and crash. After quitting Choqok, the file (/tmp/ksocket-user/klauncherXXXXXX.slave-socket file) was still present. Deleting that file manually cleared the error up. I've seen this mentioned in a couple of other forums, but none with a solution posted.
If anyone else has that error, and this method resolves it, please let us know. I'm using openSUSE 11.4, but it should apply to any version/distro of Linux using Choqok.
I am trying to install gcc 4.2.4 I specifcially need C++ 4.2.4 and gfortran 4.2.4. I successfully installed gcc 4.4.1 through yast. However, the software I am trying to compile will not compile with 4.4.1. After contacting the software support, they inform me that it will only compile with 4.2.4. So, I searched yast with no luck. I have found a .tar.bz2 on the internet. I attempted to configure and then build. I get the following error after running the make command.

I used the one click install for kdepim4 4.4.93 and it pulled in the kde distro factory 4.5.1 repo as well automatically, but when I try to install any of the beta stuff, it complains of requiring kdebase4-runtime >= 4.5.2 which doesn't exist anywhere. So do I have to test the entire kde unstable or can I just test kdepim (what i really want to do) as the post on news.kde.org indicated.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just installed openSUSE 11.2 KDE via LiveCD on my desktop computer and have been loving it. The problem is that it will randomly freeze and requires a restart. I've tried booting up in safe-mode, but it still does it. Also, when it does, the screen flickers and flashes in and out before it freezes. And before anyone asks, yes, I have my NVIDIA drivers.

View 1 Replies View Related'm running openSUSE 11.2 with KDE 4.4.2.
Since i installed KDE 4.* Whenever I go to shutdown, I get the shutdown dialogue, I hit shutdown, it logs me off, shows some text on shutdown screen, and then opens up the GUI again, bringing up a small window, where It asks for the root password, in order to shutdown. If i don't give it the root password, it goes to the login screen.
I cannot, any way, command line, GUI, or anything, shutdown without providing a root password.
If I use the command shutdown now, as root, it logs me off and goes through an endless cycle of logging off, and then asking for root to shut down, and not shutting down (All on the CLI), and everytime i give it the password, it cancels shutdown and goes back to the prompt. I eventually have to pull the battery to kill it in that case..
I have tried chmoding the shutdown scripts to make it work, it doesn't.
new Install of 11.2 every time i boot i have to config network devices via Yast Control Center. I now have 8 eth configs for my one local net adapter. Why does the MAC address change each time? I cant use my routers built in MAC filter and MAC control functions if this keeps changing. So each time i boot i need to also go into my router and build a new MAC address profile based on the new MAC address before i get Internet access. Security to the point of no access...I hope this is just a bug in the system. I thought MAC addresses were firmware/device specific? What I need is one eth config that works each boot. And I need one MAC address that does not change between boots.

I am trying to install gcc4.1.1 upon my opensuse machine which already has gcc 4.5 installed but I want an earlier version.
1) I downloaded gcc-4.1.1.tar.bz2
2) Extracted the contents
3) When I tried to run the command "./configure" on terminal its giving error "configure: error: can not find sources in . or ..". However I can see the configure file in the directory. Below are the files present in directory.

Trying to play dvd that worked under 11.1 and original dvd version of openSUSE 11.2. It failed after a update.
Not sure which one since I do not normally play dvd movies on my system.
Checked all multimedia rpms and they are all from packman except kaffeine which is KDE4 version.
Im running opensuse 11.2 on Linux 2.6.31.5-0.1 64Bit, KDE 4.3.1 with 4GB RAM, Intel duo core processor with Intel graphics card. I initially had opensuse 11.1, which i removed and installed 11.2. Initially everything.Then came the problem, the system starts up fine but then after a few hours freezes, monitor powers off and it wont accept commands from the keyboard or mouse. Meanwhile the lights (caps lock, numeric and scroll) on the keyboard blink. The power light is still on and i can hear the hard disk turning.
I have to forcefully turn the power off and restart but can freeze again after random periods.I do lengthy and demanding computations and its common for the PC to run for weeks without turning it off.
These days i try make a simple sniffer for a embedded system. and it need the function of dump all the packets into a file, which can be read by wireshark..etc. First i copy a code called simplesniffer.c from the Internet,and and now I want to add the dumpfile funtion to it. i find some problems.Quote:

Installed 11.3 as new install on Thinkpad T42. I now have a persistent notification "Nepomuk was not able to find the configured database backend 'redland' ... what it means. System seems to be working but desktop icons have grey vertical rectangular box when selected. No objects to select in the boxes though. Previous version had tools available as I recall.

I am running Ubuntu Hardy Heron. Trying to configure a ax25 packet software to connect to the internet by way of a port called tun0 that I've created within the software. I can connect within the LAN but not outside. If I execute tcpdump while the tun0 is up, I first receive the message, "WARNING: arptype 65534 not supported by libpcap - falling back to cooked socket."Question: Does this warning relate to my connectivity issue and if so, how can I 'fix' the problem?
