OpenSUSE :: After Mozilla Upgrad: Missing Dk_x11_window_get_drawable_imp?
Feb 2, 2010
Recently I installed Firefox 3.6 on my SuSE 11.0 system. In order to do that I had to uninstall Firefox 3.0 and install 3.6 from scratch from the mozilla repository. In order to upgrade Firefox I had to change xulrunner packages to satisfy dependencies. As soon as I did that, my Zend Studio started quitting with this message:
/usr/local/Zend/ZendStudio-7.1.1/jre/bin/java: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/xulrunner-1.9.1.7/libxul.so: undefined symbol: gdk_x11_window_get_drawable_impl In YaST I have these xulrunner packages:
xulrunner191 1.9.1.7-78.2-x86_64
mozilla-xulrunner191-gnomevfs 1.9.1.7-2.4-x86_64
mozilla-xulrunner192 1.9.2.0-2.1-x86_64
mozilla-xulrunner192-gnome 1.9.2.0-2.1-x86_64.
I am far from knowledgeable about the microscopic details of my system. I found a post here from someone who had this problem with Firefox itself. He added the Gnome factory repo and updated to gtk2 to 2.18 from there, but I'm on KDE I didn't want to rush in and do that without seeking more expert advice. Does anyone have an idea how I can regain libxul.so: gdk_x11_window_get_drawable_impl?

Is it safe to put my old .mozilla and .mozilla-thunderbird folders from xandros 4.2 into OSS 11.3? I have apps, emails, and settings that I would like to keep. This might seem like an over precautious question, but I've broken Xandros more than once. I would hate to do it to OSS.

I have been doing periodic net-based dist upgrade since 7.10. Currently I use 9.10. Now that 10.04 is out, I want to upgrade to the latest LTS version by doing a clean install, instead of using net-based dist-upgrade.
Since I use Firefox, and Thunderbird, I want to keep the passwords/bookmarks I have stored in firefox, and mail/account settings (for multiple email accounts) that are in Thunderbird.
While I know I can copy the hidden profile directories for each, and back them up for recovery after the upgrade by copying them into the new 10.04 after install is complete, I don't know if this is recommended, prudent, or if pitfalls await me. Since I want to do a clean install, and, since 10.04 uses different versions of both Thunderbird and Firefox,
1. Would it be prudent to back up/use the existing profiles I have in 9.10, or should I bite the bullet and just start fresh with new profile setups when I finish installing 10.04? 2. Are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of if I will be restoring a profile of each from 9.10?
3. Or, should I continue to do net-based dist-upgrades to 10.04 so appropriate profile changes can be made by the new versions of Thunderbird/Firefox software?

This may (or may not) duplicate yester64's post but I'm trying to learn html and I've been going crazy with the <basefont /> tag. KompoZer, Opera, and Firefox all ignore it. However, any <font /> tag I use works with no problems What's really maddening is that I copied the file to the windows side and IE works wonderfully with the same file although Firefox still ignores it! I keep windows around for One and only one program - tomtom. I would cry at mozilla except that the same problem is occuring in those other non-mozilla programs.

sporadically and sometimes, right click image > save image as does not work, ie no response. If I close FF and restart, more often than not it does (same target image, natch) Anyone else have any experience here? I have tried the "advanced options" in java script under edit> prefs, but the problem persists. Would there be any point in starting from CLi and looking at/posting the output?

I installed OpenSUSE 11.3 yesterday. When I begin to use Mozilla Firefox (version automatically installed with OpenSUSE 11.3) the cursor freezes or locks up (when I move the mouse/cursor-pointer), and the only way I can do anything is turn off the computer and start over (to no avail, because it does the same thing within a a minute or so after entering Mozilla Firefox. I did not have this problem with OpenSUSE 11.2.

Today I did the Seamonkey 2.1 update. I found out that some of the add-ons or extensions did not work. They were disabled, due to incompatible versions. I found out a simple solution. I hope this helps some. This helped me with the Webdeveloper, fxif and Novell Moonlight extensions. In the file install.rdf is an element called MaxVersion. Change this to 2.1.* and the extensions work again.
The file install.rdf is to be found in ~/.mozilla/seamonkey/user-thingies.default/extensions/{extensioncode}
The changed code for Moonlight looks like this:
Code:
<Description>
<em:id>{92650c4d-4b8e-4d2a-b7eb-24ecf4f6b63a}</em:id>
<em:minVersion>2.0b1</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>2.1.*</em:maxVersion>
</Description>
Good luck if you are a Seamonkey user.

I tried to add another repository to yast (Index of /repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.2) and when I was done, Yast gave me an error message and now no repositories show up.
The error is: "/etc/zypp/repos.d/_mozilla_openSUSE_11.2.repo:Line 2 is missing '=' sign"
How do I fix this? How do I get my repos back? I took a look in that directory and this is what is in it:
Code:
[_mozilla/openSUSE_11.2
]
name= mozilla/openSUSE_11.2
enabled=1
autorefresh=1
baseurl=http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.2

openSuSE gurus, after several weeks I've finally managed to get aMule to listen external calls from Mozilla browsers. To make it quick: In Seamonkey or FF do about:config and add
Code:
Key: network.protocol-handler.external.ed2k
Tyoe: boolean
Value: true
Key: network.protocol-handler.expose.ed2k
Type: boolean
Value: false

After upgrading to the above, I find that some plasmoids are missing: RSS Now, Dictionary, Calculator (of the ones I use). The most important one for me is RSS Now, indeed there is no RSS plasmoid at all offered anymore. Downloading new plasmoids doesn't offer anything, and I can't find it on kde-looks either. Has anyone else noticed this, and how I can get RSS Now and the other back?

What is the best way to install GMP onto my OpenSuSE 11.4_64 box? I see gmp-devel is listed in the repo for download, but I need binary gmp. I'm guessing I'll have to use something like SuSE build service or compile from source.

I have installed Tomcat6 succesfully from Yast. Now im wondering where is catalina.sh file located ?
Tomcat is running fine, but i'm needing that startup script for deploying web service directly from Netbeans IDE.
The default init script is found from /etc/init.d/tomcat6, so is catalina.sh included to this installation ?
I'm using Opensuse 11.2

I installed openSUSE a couple of weeks ago but didn't use it until 2 days ago. It was the latest version when I installed it.To my surprise there wasn't a gcc or pppoe installed. Or at least there wasn't a command line begging with ppp.I tried to install them both with rpms. I think I got them both, just they don't work very well. In particular rp-pppoe doesn't work at all. It says that there's no modem on eth0, which is very true there's only a eth cable. gcc seems to work but I'm not sure I installed all the dependencies.I can't use yast because of lack of internet. I have to reboot to windows and download rpms.Can you give me a work around? At least for the pppoe then it might fix itself. Can I have some EXACT links to rpms or another solution?

Looks like somewhere down the line the pmda's for pcp fell out of the distro? The pmcd config (in /var/lib/pcp/config/pmcd/pmcd.conf) shows that pmcd expects 2 pmda's.

pmcd 2 dso pmcd_init /var/lib/pcp/pmdas/pmcd/pmda_pmcd.so
linux 60 dso linux_init /var/lib/pcp/pmdas/linux/pmda_linux.so
Yet the whole /var/lib/pcp/pmdas directory is missing.

I run a molecular biology lab and we like to run the "Molecule" GL screensaver in order to look cool (I know it doesn't actually save screens, and it wastes energy, but you know..). I'm about to install Opensuse 11.3 on all 24 of our laptops and I find that the number of GL screensavers installed as standard is greatly reduced from previous Opensuse releases. Any idea where I can get the "Molecule" and other screensavers?
I am running KDE and have the following relevant packages installed:
kdeartwork4-screensaver
xscreensaver
xscreensaver-data
xscreensaver-data-extra
gnome-screensaver
gnome-screensaver-extra
This apparently gives me just 8 GL screensavers - there used to be a great many more?

A couple of weeks ago I installed openSUSE 11.3/KDE 4.4.4 over openSUSE 11.0/KDE 3.5. It went well except for what turned out to be a glitch with the KDE default Plasma Desktop Workspace, which prevented the system from shutting down (the screen would go blank and then nothing would happen). Changing the Activity in the Desktop Settings to Folder View got rid of the glitch, returning everything to normal.
The printer icon/widget is now a question mark "?." I can't say for certain when this happened.Clicking on the widget produces the message, "KDEint could not launch 'opt/kde3/bin/startprint'."The command for the widget is 'opt/kde3/bin/startprint %U'.The file opt/kde3/bin/startprint no longer exists.What additional information, if any, might be needed, and what can be done to get this widget working again?

All other protocols like RDP, NX and VNC are missing. I got FreeRDP and rdesktop etc. Installed and can connect to RDP sessions from the terminal.

I've just updated my system from SuSE 11.2 to 11.4 (I'm using KDE desktop environment) I like to install SeaMonkey myself. I use the installer from the Mozilla site. When I try to run SeaMonkey, this is what happens:
Code:
./seamonkey-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libdbus-glib-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Where do I get the missing library? I've tried searching for it on the rpmpbone site RPM Search and even they couldn't find it.

I just installed openSUSE for the first time. I customized the installation by removing unwanted software during setup, but unfortunately I must have removed something needed because when I open the main menu using the button in the bottom left corner there is the search bar missing. Which software package do I need to install to get it back?
Edit: I am using Gnome btw
