I have not used OpenSUSE for some time, but I am running 11.4 32 bit on my laptop now. The system runs fine and stable, but I am surprised to find icons missing for a few applications. They've never been there, like if they are missing from the rpm they are installed from.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI use Debian Jessie which includes a gnome shell version 3.14.1. The problem is that icons of some applications such as Viber or Starcal are not shown in the tray while the icons of other applications (e.g. Skype of Dropbox) are shown without problem.
By the way, the problem does not relate to loading, because all applications are loaded and a space is considered for each in the tray, but the problem is that for some of applications the pictures of their icons are not shown.
Just installed gnome-Shell in Natty Narwhal. the only problem know is that all the icons have disappeared and the theme has gone to a more "basic" look. No matter what desktop session I choose (Unity, Gnome-Shell, Classic) I can't change anything back since the "appearance" menu seems to have been removed while gnome-shell was being installed.

I already restored regular icons by going to gconf. However, the icons on top right where the "power" button is located, still have no icons. Is there any way to add icons to the hibernate/ shut down , etc words?

At the moment it seems that the mime-type is the overriding factor for displaying the icon in Dolphin and Konqueror rather than any content. There appears to be something for GNOME for this.

I have lost some icons from my desktop, they are, firefox, yast, thunderbird, emacs, the space and the names are still there, and when I hover the mouse over the space, it is highlighted as it should be. The application opens and runs as normal when I click on the space where the icon should be. The icons are also missing from the favorites bar on the left side and also from the panel top left when the app is running.I have tried, rebuilding the icon cache in 'usr/share/icons/hicolor', and also all othercon caches for that matter, and no difference. I tried uninstalling and installing the app, no differenence. I tried changing themes and icons from Tweak Tool, no difference. As far as I can see the icons are there in the hicolor directory
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently played around with Mac4lin a program to change the interface to one that resembles a Mac computer. I did not like the settings then decided to uninstall the program. It reverted to a really ugly looking gnome desktop rather than my previous settings. One thing that I don't like is that I have a foot icon on my gnome traditional menu button on the panel rather than the green ball type icon I used to have. I know it's not the end of the world that my icons do not look like it previously did, everything else is running smoothly, though I'm just more annoyed than anything else.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWith the installation of 11.4, my video driver changed over to the nouveau driver from the proprietary nVidia driver. Now I get a grid of vertical lines following my curser in both KDE and Gnome, a similar grid over icons and as background fill in KDE. In KDE the grid lines appear over icons within application windows. Is anyone else seeing these? Or, not seeing them while using the nVidia driver?

I switched from 11.2 to 11.4 yesterday. I noticed that the Appearance dialog has only three tabs instead of four tabs. The last tab "Interfaces" does not exist, in where I can select "Show Icon in Context Menu". But I do not know, how to show icons in context menu.
View 7 Replies View Relatedyesterday I upgraded my Fedora installation via preupgrade from 11 to 12.Now there are some icons missing! If I go to the 'System' menu in the panel, there are no icons at all.If then I select the 'Settings' submenu, all of its icons are visible.I figured out that the package redhat-menus and fedora-icon-theme make up the representation of this icons and reinstalled them. Then I additionally executed 'gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders-64 > /etc/gtk-2.0/x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf.loaders' (I read this somewhere in the forum).
But nothing happend so far?!
I made further efforts trying to find out the icon of the System Configuration Menu (Syst -> Administration). The file '/usr/share/desktop-directories/SystemConfig.directory' contains the icon that should be displayed for the System->Administration menu. This file contains the line: Icon=preferences-system Good so far.I thought that selecting the gnome icon theme would fix this problem, but this also didn't help!Now I'm at the end of my knowledge (or I don't want to rename single icons to match the names required)...
I instaled the samba packages in RHEL 5.1 and everything was fine until i reboot the system. After restarting the system i cant find any of my desktop items in the GNOME view. Also right click is not working.

I had a strange problem with a brand-new Dell Vostro 3550 laptop with clean a Fedora 15 x86-64 installation. I chose to download the boot image and install from the network. I selected packages for software development without customizing anything. The installation went on smoothly. Once I started using the system, I used yum to install several additional packages. Strangely the icons for these applications seem to be missing.Screenshot1 shows that both Thunderbird and Remmina (for remote desktop) icons shown generic icon.Screenshot2 shows the Default Applications tab in the System Info where Thunderbird does not have an icon.

Sometime (once every 4-5 time) when I boot my machine the desktop icons are missing and I have to log out and in again to get them back.
Besides that the systems works fine.
I am running Natty 64 bit with a GTX275 graphicscard and the latest drivers from X updates.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using slackware-current 32bit version. After upgrading from kde 4.2.4 to 4.3.4 (using slackpkg), all my K-menu icons were missing.
There are also no icons in task managers for all kde-based applications like konsole,dolphin etc.. But for non-kde application like firefox, wicd and xmms, the icons show up in task manager. I have tried reinstalling kdebase, kdebase-runtime and kde-userspace with no luck.
After the last daily update using 9-10, I have lost sight of my Min, Max & Close icons to all programs

open firefox, download and install some plugins/addons that generate menu entries with an icon in front of them.
e.g. "downthemall" (down them all)

there is however space for these icons in the menu. and I can see icons in the bookmark and history menus. (web page favicons)
these icons improve the usability greatly because they offer a visual guide to the menu not only to the item they belong to but also to other items because I know that the item I want is e.g. one above the green triangle.
I have a slightly impaired vision so this a far greater issue to me than you well sighted folks may think. Just put on some glasses with lots of fingerprints on them and you will see the difference.
In Ubuntu 10.04 Final in Ubuntu Software Center there are missing icons? Thought it was my desktop computer,but is same on another computer.Will this be fixed soon?

I have checked 'show menu icons' option in Xubuntu settings, and all gtk apps have their icons. Skype is a Qt app however. VLC is also a Qt app, and it's missing its icons, too.
I've just installed the new Ubuntu 11.04 and encountered a strange problem. The Launcher bar appears, everything is ok, but i can see no icon on the Unity Launcher. When i move the mouse over the launcher, it tells me where the icons should be. The apps also open when I click in those places. But NO icon? Can anybody tell me why is this happening? It is very annoying. I would accept it easier if it didn't work at all.. but not this way.
