General :: Activate Wireless Network Card Driver And Video Driver?
Jul 20, 2010I just installed Linux Mint 9 as a dual boot install with Win XP. Trying to activate wireless network card driver and video driver. Pops up: "You are not authorized to perform this action".How do I get authorized?
Now every time I boot Win XP, the Internet Explorer menu bar is all blacked out and goofy. If I log out and back in it corrects itself. If I reboot it's blacked out again. Re-installed IE8. Still blacks out.Also Firefox in Win XP crashes expectantly. It has NEVER crashed on me previously.

I have ran the lspci command to find out my wireless card is Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 and I found the driver for this card at:it won't let me post the URL for some reason...but i googled "Broadcom BCM4313 driver for linux" and it's the first link.I downloaded the 32-bit driver but now I have absolutely no idea what to do.The download has folders named lib and src, and a text file called Makefile.

The third step i don't understand. I want the folder of the driver to be located in a folder inside home called "Programas" so what I did was to open the terminal, went su, and then did cd Programas. Then I followed instructions 1 and 2, but I don't know what to put where it says <path>.

Oct 3, 2009I am very new to Linux and need to install a driver for my wireless card. I am trying to install the RT3070 v2.0.1.0 driver from Ralink. I am running Fedora 2.6.29.4-167.fc11.i686.PAE. I have read the thread in the Solutions section about this driver, but unfortunately this is somewhat above my levels of comprehension, and I don't really know where to start.

Ubuntu :: WUSB300N < Wireless Card Driver Not Activated
Feb 27, 2011i followed a tutorial and i used NDISWRAPPER to install the windows drivers and my device WUSB300N (wireless network card) worked perfectly. Once i rebooted however, the drivers are still installed but not activated if you get me? so the wireless card is just not read by the operating system.

Dec 22, 2009I have a Netgear WG511GE PCMCIA card, and a driver from the original installation disk. I used an ndiswrapper-utils gui called ndisgtk to install the driver. I then do the following to verify an installation:

Unfortunately, when I put the PCMCIA card in, nothing happens. On Windows, a green light flashes even if the card is not connected to any network. At first I thought this might be a hardware issue, so I did #lspci and got:

Lo and behold, when I put a different unbranded Wireless PC Card in it works. I'm no expert in Networks, but to me this suggests a driver problem (i.e. the card is physically detected it just won't work). However, the correct driver was installed with ndisgtk and this was verified with #ndiswrapper -l, hence the confusion.
I'd be grateful if anyone else has had this problem/knows of this problem and is willing to share the solution with me/point me in the right direction. So far, Google has returned a few posts from a few years ago talking about patching kernels and manually building files etc (just before Prism54 became integrated into the Linux kernel).

I have been through this before with Fedora. Ubuntu supported my wireless card but not my display so I am switching to this OS. Does anyone know how to install the driver on 11.4 suse?

I have downloaded and installed NDISWRAPPER but when I type ndiswrapper -i /path/to/rt2860.inf I get a message saying that this is the incorrect driver. However this driver drives the card for both Fedora 14 and Ubuntu 10.10, both using ndiswrapper, so what may be the problem with openSuse 11.4?

Feb 16, 2011I've been trying to make/compile the driver for a wireless card. The card is usb, it's titled Micronext MN-WD550M and seems to use the rtl8712 driver.Firstly, though I did this once two years ago I seem to have completely forgotten how to install a driver in ubuntu.
Secondly, I'm not sure I have the right driver anyway since in the notes in the readme it says it is for i386 (I run amd 64). The driver is here [URL] Thirdly, after clicking through various readmes and documentation without feeling any more intelligent, I then tried using ndiswrapper to install a windows driver and ubuntu would crash if the usb wireless card was plugged in. Blarg.I feel like this should be so simple I'm going to make a clean installation of ubuntu 10.10 shortly (for various unrelated reasons) so anything I messed up with ndiswrapper should be back to normal.

Please have a look at the log file for details: /var/log/jockey.log" When I check the log the message is "2011-04-28 18:38:59,896 DEBUG: BroadcomWLHandler enabled(): kmod disabled, bcm43xx: blacklisted, b43: blacklisted, b43legacy: blacklisted"
I have had 10.04 on this computer in the past and it worked fine, but this is a fresh install of 11.04. Any suggestions on where to go from here?

Aug 13, 2010I have installed Lubuntu on my dell Latitude C400. Recently I had Unbuntu, but my system was to slow for it. The wireless worked when I installed sl-modem-daemon_2.9.11~20100303-2_i386.deb, however this does not work with Lubuntu. I have used the ndiswrapper to install a driver from windows, and still it is not installed.
After iwconfig i get
lo no wireless extensions
eth1 no wireless extensions
The other problem is this laptop has no cd dive and the ethernet connection does not work, so I can t do updates.

Jul 8, 2010I just bought a netbook, HP DV2-1039WM, which comes with Vista. I wiped the hard drive and installed Ubuntu 9.10. A problem has arisen in that it doesn't see any wireless card. There is a button on the side with an indicator light that is used to enable/disable wireless. The light is amber and, according to the manual, it is supposed to be blue when wireless is working. The manual just says "push the button" to turn it on, which doesn't do anything.
I recently installed a dual boot on my desktop with Windows 7/Ubuntu, which doesn't have any problems. Are there driver/hardware issues with the setup I am trying on this netbook? The HP website only has drivers for windows OSes listed. Theoretically, I could reinstall windows and/or do a dual-boot, but I'd rather just keep only Ubuntu on it if possible.

I`m now facing some problems with my new OS :
1. The driver for my wireless network card isn't recognized although I have installed the recommended driver which was in Ubuntu Hardware Driver section.
2. When I connect my laptop to my TV using HDMI port, the screen is OK but there is no sound!
3. When by any reason my network cable is unplugged, the whole network service goes down and I have to restart the system.

Jan 5, 2010I'm trying to find a driver for my wireless card (Atheros AR928X) and I think it's ath9k what I need. As far as I know there isn't a linux driver for it, so I installed ndiswrapper to use a windows driver instead. The problem is that when I type modprobe ndiswrapper I get "bash: modprobe: command not found" (even as root). I know I'm missing something about modprobe, but I can't find any help on google. Anyway, I installed ndisgtk next, because I thought it would be easier, but when I go to System> Administration> Windows Wireless Drivers I get a message "Unknown error".Do you have any ideas on how I'll make ndiswrapper work?
