The cdrom debian installer to be put is located here,
http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/...86-netinst.iso
I tried unetbootin to make this pendrive, and it seems to be working, but not perfect. it hangs after the territory, saying that nothing into /cdrom is mounted.
Without unetbootin, how should we do to make a pendrive iso-cd/debian-503-i386-netinst-like bootable?
I have a webserver to host some system application to the public. the server have two network interface. I set eth0 with wan IP and eth1 with internal LAN IP.the reason for the internal ip on eth1 is to enable LAN pc directly access to the webserver application..is this configuration is ok. sometimes the server link down and i have to restart network to get it back to normal again.. Is there any additional configuration in order to make the network stable.

I want to make a transparent squid proxy server in centos. The squid proxy version is 2.6 stable. I made a normal squid server but want to make it transparent so that users do not need to enter the proxy settings in web browser. Even i searched about this on google but not getting it properly.I have two lan cards on centos system. ETH1 used for LAN and ETH2 used for WAN. And in this squid.conf i written "http_port 172.16.31.1:3128 transparent" and i also added a rule in iptables which is "iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth1 -p tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-port 3128" but still i have to enter proxy settings at client's web browser to use internet
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I first started using Unity, I configured the dual monitor system under the settings program. I then changed my xorg.conf, but Unity is ignoring that configuration and switching to its own. I think this might have something to do with RandR, but I'm not sure. Is there a way to make Unity use the xorg.conf configuration?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo the first couple of days using Unity with my dual monitors went fine. Today I plugged in my laptop to the second monitor, and while the top bar and the side menu are being displayed, all the desktop icons, background, and actual program windows are black. Basically I just have the menu bar and the launcher. The windows are still there when I unplug the second monitor.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI think 32 pixels is still very big for a launcher, can I shrink them more somehow in Unity? I'm talking about Ubuntu 11.04, of course.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu 11.04 final, then it said "it appears that your hardware is incompatible with unity, go to login screen, select ubuntu classic". I use nvidia, it had a compatibility problems with linux, so it made ubuntu mouse cursor sporadically disappear and fedora never appear at all, so I installed the proprietary nvidia driver, rebooted to finish installation and unity worked!
(This step may not be nedded on top right, light switch icon -> switch from you -> on top, select yourself -> on bottom, select ubuntu classic temporarily, use ubuntu classic)
(This step is definitely needed System -> Administration -> Additional Drivers -> nvidia current recommended -> Install -> Restart to complete installation permanently, use ubuntu unity)
Enjoy default settings
I'm running OpenSUSE11.3 64bits with KDE 4.4.4 (release 3). Is it safe to upgrade to KDE4.6? Is KDE 4.5 better/more stable than 4.6? Why is both 4.5 and 4.6 developed? Why not go for one version?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI really enjoy using both ubuntu and fedora. I am finding that I am in some ways perfering fedora over ubuntu, but think that the look and feel of fedora is awful. Basically I would like to make fedora 14 look exactly like Ubuntu (11.04) with unity disabled so technically it is gnome 2.32.1 I really like the "unity-icon-theme" ubuntu offers, as well as the Ubuntu-Mono-Dark
now in ubuntu say I wanted to download the unity icon theme, I would type in:
sudo apt-get install unity-icon-theme and it takes care of the rest by itself,
now in fedora I type: sudo yum install unity-icon-theme Of course it does not work, how would I manually go about copying the unity-icon-theme and or Ubuntu-Mono-Dark theme from Ubuntu over to fedora? I am unsure if "Controls" and "Windows Borders" use the same method, but I would also like to manually copy and enable them in fedora. So the end result is a Fedora box looking exactly like a Ubuntu box?
I want to stay in KDE 4.4.5 for a while, while KDE 4.5 gets stable. But now the factory repo. is moving to 4.5, and the stable repo. stayed in 4.4.4., so now no repo has 4.4.5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedGot firefox 6 via zypper up from the Mozilla stable repository ( Index of /repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.4)
Firefox 6 is not released officially till now.
I used to install the latest kernel for opensuse 11.3 from this repo:
Index of /repositories/Kernel:/stable
but for 11.4 it is empty. I can see that for 11.3 the 2.6.38 kernel is already built. For 11.4 there is only the Kernel:/HEAD repo. Are we going to have a kernel:/stable repo for 11.4?
Has anyone tried updating dbus in factory up to level 1.4 under openSuSE 11.3 x86_64 and continue to run KDE 4.4.4 Stable? Just wondering if it causes any issues or if it forces you to go to KDE 4.5.1 Factory. I've tried updating to 4.5.1 without, other thread, and the suggestion was to update dbus to 1.4 to correct speed issues.
View 1 Replies View RelatedInstalled Tumbleweed today and was disappointed to find the latest stable KDE not installed.
4.6.2 is running fine on my 11.4 install.
I would like to use 4.6.2 in my Tumbleweed install.
Can anyone recommend the appropriate KDE Stable repo for Tumbleweed?
I'm wondering what the stable kernel is for opensuse 11.4 kde because I ran an update and I'm at 2.6.37~ and I remember Ubuntu is at 2.6.39.10~ ; is the 2.6.39.10 kernel considered unstable is that why opensuse is not using it yet? I just started using opensuse KDE and I haven't used other distros/linux so thats why I'm asking.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI should update my Opensuse 11.0 to the last stable version?I need to know exactly how to do: should I download an iso image?Should I operate from Yast?
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor some reason is not updating. Not sure why, Use KDE for most everything, but have some GTK apps installed. Not sure where to look to get past this error message. I've checked in yast and all the updates are there. did a rpm --rebuilddb, but this hasnt resolved the issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe gnome-shell-extensions have been accepted into the stable repository and should appear soon along with an updated gnome-shell. Now, if you installed the extensions for my factory branch whilst I was working on the extensions, you need to remove the repository and remove the installed packages as there have been some name changes to the extensions. I don't recommend the xrandr extension, it will crash the shell! If you do try it, you only need to do a ctrl+alt+F1 and login as root user and zypper rm, logout and ctrl+alt+F7 and login.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI use openSUSE 11.4 64 bits with KDE. For a specific reason (incompatibility with our internal revenue website) I'll have to downgrade to the latest stable FireFox version, 3.6 or something. I however do not know how to :
1. find this repository
2. when found, install it over my current 4.0.1 version.
I am using OpenSUSE 11.4 64 bit with GNOME. I also use the Tumbleweed and Packman for Tumbleweed repositories. Accoording to uname -r, my current kernel version is 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop.
How do I safely update to the latest stable kernel version?
I am new to OpenSUSE. Please provide step by step directions.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've installed quantum GIS on opensuse 11.3 gnome, so far so good. I run the app and it opens fine. To get the app to use data on the HD you get a dialogue box with a browse button. It should just be a case of clicking browse and selecting the required data file. Unfortunately when I click on browse the app crashes. I've no idea how to get info about the crash in an attempt to solve the problem. Had a similar problem with gimp in suse 11 kde could only fix it by updating the os to 11.3.
