OpenSUSE :: Downgrading FireFox To Latest Stable 3.xx Version?
Jun 11, 2011
I use openSUSE 11.4 64 bits with KDE. For a specific reason (incompatibility with our internal revenue website) I'll have to downgrade to the latest stable FireFox version, 3.6 or something. I however do not know how to :
1. find this repository
2. when found, install it over my current 4.0.1 version.

I am using OpenSUSE 11.4 64 bit with GNOME. I also use the Tumbleweed and Packman for Tumbleweed repositories. Accoording to uname -r, my current kernel version is 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop.
How do I safely update to the latest stable kernel version?
I am new to OpenSUSE. Please provide step by step directions.

How do i roll back firefox5beta to firefox4 and keep updating to the latest stable releases w/out upgrading to beta? The only extension that isn't working is FEBE which is incompatible w/ firefox5beta (profile, extension and preference backup). Have to use FEBE beta7 under Firefox4 so I don't think a compatible release for Firefox5beta is going to come out any time soon.

I would like to use 4.6.2 in my Tumbleweed install.
Can anyone recommend the appropriate KDE Stable repo for Tumbleweed?

I'm using Ubuntu 11.04. I'm searching for an automated way of installing the latest version of Flash for Firefox. We are using our machine as a testing server and it would be nice to be assured we always have the latest version of Flash instead of having to manually update it whenever Adobe comes out with an incremental update.

A month ago, my HP Mini 1035NR, with a Windows XP system died. Since then, it won't boot into Windows. I tried installing Ubuntu via a bootable USB with no luck. I have finally been able to create a working bootable USB running the Gnome version of Open Suse 11.3.
Aside from not picking up my ethernet connection to the Internet, my bigger issue is I can't install Open Suse from the USB. I get a message when I try to install that there may not be enough memory and it hangs at the section where you choose your time zone. I would like to install the latest version of Open Suse with KDE. Is there anything else I can do?

I'm using flashplayer-nonfree in Debian, and have run "update-flashplugin-nonfree --install". Going to the version checker (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) says "You have version 10,2,159,1 installed". However, when I go to the Firefox plugin checker (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/) it says Shockwave Flash is using an outdated version that needs to be updated. When I follow the update link, the version it wants me to download is "Adobe Flash Player version 10.2.159.1".

I unfortunately succumbed to the lure of the latest and greatest and upgraded from a wonderfully stable, great version of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to the -how shall I say- adventurous beta release of Ubuntu 11.04. My question is, I think, simple. Is it advisable to downgrade to the last 10.04 LTS ver.? I have my personal data saved. I run a dual boot with an old copy of Windows which I use once a year to do my taxes on.

I attempted to install the latest version of Digikam, v1.6, by connecting the Factory repository , then an upgrade via YAST. It automagically included upgrade of certain kde4 packages to v2.5.80.
System ran OK for a while, then I got a Plasma Desktop Shell crash notice and now cannot restart X. I can boot to level 3. I upgraded all the kde components to 2.5.80, but that did not help.
Has anyone successfully done this? Was there a hidden secret to success?
If all else fails, am I correct that
Code:
zypper dist-upgrade --from #kde45 repository
will return my system to kde 4.5.4 ?

It took me a while to restore the windows bootloader and I don't want to do it again. how to proceed to install a fresh copy on opensuse/kde on my second harddrive without it touching my first (I can select bootdevice from bios function). Both are currently formatted as NTFS and the second (target) drive is empty.

I enables some alpha repositories on my device(n900) and as expected, upgrades from there broke a lot of things. Now I disabled the repository but the newer versions of the packages are still installed. Is there a way to check for all packages, if the installed version is newer than the repository version? So that I can downgrade them? The package management is apt. The main problem is I don't exactly remember what I upgraded so manual (apt-get remove/ then install) downgrade is not much of an option. I think I changed some python libraries that broke my system.
