I just updated pidgin from 2.6 to 2.7.3 but when i start i get this entries

Pidgin auto starts with the computer, I've closed out of it and killed the process and restarted to make sure it wasn't saving the session, it still starts, theres no option in any of the settings for pidgin to turn it off, is there a way to?

I am using Ubuntu 9.04. After doing sudo apt-get update When I try to insatll pidgin via terminal it shows: XXX@XXX-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install pidgin Reading package lists... I installed OS11.4 on my old laptop, Compaq Armada E500., 512MB RAM, ATI Rage Mobility. During installation I chose "minimal server" and added some development packages, lxde and a little more. I chose to start in runlevel 3 which is full networking without X. Still, when computer is booted it tries to start Xorg which doesn't work because of some problem w driver. The start-up seems to stop there, it never loads completely - seems most things in runlevel 3 are not started (see below) I can manually login on laptop and fix it - but never permanently, same thing again after reboot.
I have checked /etc/inittab & yast - both states default runlevel is 3. I have checked services to be started both directly, browsing directory /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/, and with YaST, it is very clear X should not load during boot. But, as said, it does.. I don't really care about the driver problem right now, I can fix that later when I have more time. So how do I stop X from getting started automatically?
More info, if needed: The installation also stopped with message on tty1 "Starting YaST2" and tty8 showing errors with graphics driver (mach64). The system seemed to be installed though, so I simply rebooted (issuing "reboot" from tty2).

I'm not completely sure where it stops, network is configured but keyboard is wrong and mysql & everything after is not started, so somewhere between S02network and S06kbd. I'm going to use it as a server for testing purposes so no X is actually needed - however I do want to have X & lxde installed just in case, my Internet connection at home is terribly slow so I need most things I might need in the future installed today.
Everything works perfect in kde 4.2 except pidgin. I have tried everything (automatic sound, with a command "aplay", esd, ...) and nothing. It sounds when i push the preview, but when i'm on a chat, or a new message its incoming, never sounds ...

View 3 Replies View RelatedPreviously after doing aptitude upgrade, my pidgin seems broken with no gui shown. So I decided to download the latest source from pidgin website and build it from source, but I think I made situation worse because it then complained that ssl lib was needed. Then I removed the libpurple (e.g. aptitude purge libpurple0 libpurple-bin libpurple-dev) and reinstalled pidgin (aptitude install pidgin). Now it shows the error
pidgin: symbol lookup error: pidgin: undefined symbol: purple_media_element_info_get_type
I searched on the internet and can not find a solution. The clues on the internet says that's because the piding I use is the older version of libpurple. But I think I've removed all with purge and reinstalled it. Maybe some legacy binary is referenced. What or where it might be? Or where there may contain related information.
after installation of pidgin 2.7.1 on 11.2 64 from suse download site it doesn't start. i had previous version 2.6 and it was ok.anyone encounter same issue?

pidgin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/gst-0.10/gst/interfaces.so: undefined symbol: gst_stream_volume_format_get_type
I've run sudo /sbin/ldconfig, but it didn't help. I've also reinstalled pidgin and libpurple.
Just updated to KDE 4.5.1, and im having a hard time getting the tray icons to work.
For instance, i cant get the Pidgin tray icon to show. I cant get Qinternet to show either.
I was using Ubuntu and installed Opensuse 11.4. I have installed Pidgin 2.7. I copied the old .purple directory from Ubuntu into my Opensuse home directory. But now the Pidgin is not reading the data, logs and configuration from the .purple directory.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I tried to uninstall some applications, pidgin, for example, via 'Add/Remove Software', YaST told me that I have to uninstall another 200+ packages. Is this something normal? I'm new to Linux and don't want ruin the system, so I seek for another way.
I found that 'Software Manager' can also be used to uninstall the package, so I use it to uninstall pidgin. The problem is after I pressed 'Apply' button, there are so many package installing by themselves. I saw that most of them are appended with '-lang'.
I have been an OpenSuse 11.2 user since the past 8 months. Recently I had a issue with the operating system and therefore had to re-install the OS again. However, since the fresh install, I have not been able to capture any sound from my laptop's microphone. This is weird because it used to work fine with OpenSuse 11.2 before I had to re-install the same OS again. Additionally I can assure that there are no issues with the hardware since it works fine with Windows 7. I have tried almost everything, but in vain.

The error that I get is "Strigi service failed to initialize, most likely due to an installation problem.", does anyone here know if Strigi logs things like this and were? View 9 Replies View RelatedSo after a series of uninstalling and reinstalling VirtualBox to get the updated version, I was able to get it installed and working but it seemed to be crashing my computer as everytime i walked away for 10 minutes and came back, it would be at the login screen. It never did it while I was on it though so I never saw any errors. Now after a couple days of that... Whenever I start it I get an error:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had installed openSuSE 11.0 and then installed XEN using 'Install hypervisor and Tools' which is present in Computer -> YaST -> Virtualization.
After that I rebooted the machine in XEN mode[Dom 0]. There I installed a Virtual machine[Dom U] with OpenSuSE 11.0 Operating system using the option 'Create Virtual machine'which is present in Computer -> YaST -> Virtualization.
VM[Virtual Machine] got installed successfully and started running in TightVNC. I shutdown the VM and restarted it and it started running successfully.
After that I shutdown XEN[Dom 0] and restarted the machine in XEN mode again to run Virtual machine[Dom U]. But this time I got the below error when I selected the 'Run' option in installed VM.

I've performed a new installation of openSUSE 11.3 and I see a lag while starting Opera - close to 10 - 15 seconds.... I didn't have a similar issue with 11.2.... I notice this not only in KDE but in Gnome as well.... This happens only with Opera and not any other application.... These are the details about my Opera installation:

View 3 Replies View Relatedi run opensuse 11.2 with kdebase4-4.3.5-0.1.1.x86_64 on a hp elitebook 8530w. when i start opensuse and the sound is initially turned off, it will be turned on while starting. if i turn it of manually (by pushing the appropriate button) it will be turned on again. I assume that there is a script like .bashrc for bash scripts which tells the system to turn on the sound. Does anyone knows whether there is such a script and if yes, where can i find it and edit it?

Eventually I get frustrated at how ridiculous something as simple as text editing can be. I'm having a problem starting mysql. I have already ran the install script afer downloading mysql community server from yast.
what I need to do to start the server. I tried to issue rcmysql start, but it says "The absolute path to 'rcmysql' is 'usr/sbin/rcmysql' so running it may require superuser privileges. So i say SUDO rcmysql, enter password and again same message.
I have installed all the prerequisite(kernel-source, kernel-syms) and even the installation is successful.
