View 1 RepliesI've noticed that the pidgin musictracker plugin does not work with rhythmbox in Fedora 15. I tried using Audacious and it sets the "Now Listening" status correctly, but rhythmbox doesn't work anymore.

Where I can get this plugin for Pidgin. Running openSUSE 64 Bit KDE.
View 1 Replies View RelatedPreviously after doing aptitude upgrade, my pidgin seems broken with no gui shown. So I decided to download the latest source from pidgin website and build it from source, but I think I made situation worse because it then complained that ssl lib was needed. Then I removed the libpurple (e.g. aptitude purge libpurple0 libpurple-bin libpurple-dev) and reinstalled pidgin (aptitude install pidgin). Now it shows the error
pidgin: symbol lookup error: pidgin: undefined symbol: purple_media_element_info_get_type
I searched on the internet and can not find a solution. The clues on the internet says that's because the piding I use is the older version of libpurple. But I think I've removed all with purge and reinstalled it. Maybe some legacy binary is referenced. What or where it might be? Or where there may contain related information.
I found this extension [URL]
But haven't been able to get it working.
I copied the files to the mentioned directory ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/
I tried setting the file permissions to full
Code:
david@aitdes2:~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/gnomeshell@pidgin.im$ ls -l
total 24
-rwxrwxrwx 1 david david 14219 2011-04-29 18:31 extension.js
-rwxrwxrwx 1 david david 163 2011-04-29 18:31 metadata.json
-rwxrwxrwx 1 david david 177 2011-04-29 18:31 stylesheet.css
No idea what else I could try.
I use gnome-mplayer 1.0.0 and Totem Movie Player 2.30.2 to view videos Both read subtitles well from srt files. But both are not able to read {a6} command in the srt files.
NOTE:- {a6} command serves the purpose of putting the subtitles on top of the screen, making it possible for subbers to display lyrics/additional footnotes on top, while at the same time, having the dialogues to show in their usual position.
Is there are way to force either of them to read the special commands properly?
Recently I installed MPlayer with its default gui and its interfaces SMPlayer and GnomeMPlayer. When I'm using GnomeMPlayer it responds to multimedia keys as configured in Gnome shortcuts, even if it's minimized or running in another virtual desktop. But it doesn't happen to the other two gui's mentioned above. I have also noticed that native Gnome applications or with Gnome support like Banshee and Rhythmbox rspond to multimedia keys even when the gui is closed and they are running only in the system tray. But it never occurs in non-Gnome applications like VLC, MPlayer and others. Jetaudio wich responds to these keys in MS Windows running under Wine doesn't even recognize them.
So I came to the conclusion that only native Gnome applications or with Gnome support recognize multimedia keys because, as it seems, they receive the signal from Gnome configurations. Others applications doesn't do so. Here is my question: Is there some way to make all applications recognize the configuration of Gnome multimedia keys shortcuts? (Of course it would not be fine if they recognized ALL Gnome shortcuts because they could conflict with shortcuts from another applications. The idela would be that they recognize ONLY Gnome multimedia shortcuts.)
I have a Kubuntu 10.10 install on which I can't update my packages due to some fail conflict between pidgin and pidgin-facebookchat. I can't even remove the stuff via apt-get due to this conflict...
sudo apt-get remove pidgin
Code:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:

I'm using Debian Squeeze, Pidgin 2.7.3.When starting pidgin my accounts seems to start but I see no contacts. Then I go to Accounts->Manage accounts and disable accounts, after enabling them again everything is fine. Every time I start Pidgin I get this problem, I have to disable/enable accounts to get my contacts on the list.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOn a fresh install of squeeze, I can't log in to an AIM account with being immediately disconnected and given this error: You have been connecting and disconnecting too frequently. Wait ten minutes and try again. If you continue to try, you will need to wait even longer.
I waited for several hours before trying to reconnect, but got the same message. Searching for the error led me to some bug reports from upwards of three years ago.
Strangely, this error hasn't occurred on any of my other squeeze systems.
I can ping login.oscar.aol.com as well as login.messaging.aol.com; both resolve to 205.188.251.43 for me. I tried changing the "Server" under "Advanced" to this address, but again I got the same error.
Recently, I fully upgraded my Lenny Desktop (to 5.0.4). Now I am unable to add yahoo and msn protocol in pidgin. I can't see those options in Pidgin>>Add Accounts dropdown. Several times I cleaned the old config files and reinstalled it. Still nothing to my avail
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed Debian on my main desktop and I'm having issues with Pidgin auto-connecting. I have three accounts enabled (2 AIM, 1 GTalk), but the problem occurs even if I only have one account enabled. If I explicitly enable (or disable then re-enable) an account it will connect without issue. However, when Pidgin is launched, or if network connectivity is interrupted, no accounts will connect. No matter what, it is always reporting the status as "Waiting for network connection.Google turned up several related issues from a few years ago, but nothing with an applicable solution today.

I'm running newest pidgin on sid and i have few problems. First of all notifications doesn't work (plugin is of course turned on), also even when i turn on blinking icon it's not blinking. Oh and why the tray icon is so small now?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't make sound work in Pidgin. I've tries every single method (aplay %s with Command, ALSA, Automatic etc.). Anyway, I once was hearing sounds, but later they've gone again. I have ALSA set up in 'System - Prefs - Sound' and also in 'Multimedia Systems Selector', Debian Testing (sid) 2.6.32-3-686. I also cannot set the tray icon to 'Blink On New Message'. When I recieve a message - I only see a smilie there, no 'blinking'.

how do i enable video support for pidgin?, or is it on by default?? because when i click a chat room from yahoo's list of rooms(that say people have web-cams)i don't see any options to view any of the webcams.
I'm using a PS3 Eye, which seems to work out of the box on my Ubuntu 9.10 system (both Skype, and Cheese). When I have a pidgin chat window open for one of my contacts, in the media options (under Conversation) the audio, video, and audio/video option is ghosted out (non selectable).
I have the Video plugin checked (ticked), with the input video selected (the cam shows up in the list, and it's selected): for the Eye, I select for both the Audio and Video device. But when I close the plugin configuration window, it defaults back to "Default" which i'm guessing is part of the problem. The audio and video options in pidgin is relative to my system correct? So even if the other user doesn't have that capability, it'll still let me use audio/video for them?
I'm am successfully adding my gmail account to both empathy and pidgin (it shows up in green that i'm 'available' on my computer). However, I am unable to send or receive any messages. On empathy it just says there was a network error - unknown, and pidgin say there is an xmpp message error code 404.
I've been trying for months to get IM working with my gmail account.
I normally run KDE, but installed GNOME as well on my netbook (running openSUSE 11.2) to try out. However, I noticed there is no longer any volume control applet. The GNOME panel control is labeled 'deprecated', and the volue Fn keys, which work fine in KDE, do not work at all. I tried launching the PulseAudio Volume Control app, but it gives me a "Connection Failed: Connection Refused error". I still have sound, and I can adjust the volumes in alsamixer, but is rather inconvinient. What is the "right way" to adjust volumes in 11.2's GNOME?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have a fresh installation of opensuse 11.2 32-bit. my soundcard is terratec ewx 24-96. the card is detected in yast, and i can play test sound from the yast/sound panel. all volume sliders are set to maximum values (i have also double checked it in alsamixer).
i *can* hear the sound when doing this test from the gnome terminal:
speaker-test -dplug:front -c2 -l5 -twav
however to make this test work:
speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twav
i had to remove the asound-pulse.conf file. after removing this file the second test (speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twav) works. removing this file also solved the problem of missing sound in videos videos played in firefox. the original contents of the asound-pulse.conf file was:
pcm.pulse {
type pulse
}
ctl.pulse {
[code]....
the problem is i can't play any audio files (.wav or .mp3) in banshee.
i am sure the .wav file i use while testing is ok as i can play it with aplay.
when i try playing the .wav file, banshee does not complain about any missing codecs. the slider moves as the file is being played. i have also started banshee with the --debug option, but there were no errors in the output.
so my guess is that banshee is playing the files, it's just that it sends the data to the wrong device/channell or whatever it is.
all of the gstreamer packages i have installed are from the packman repository.
when i run gstreamer-properties, the only setting on the audio tab that gives me sound is: alsa (for the plugin) and default (for the device).
I'm having issues getting VLC to work again (openSuSE 11.2 GNOME). It used to work fine, but I think I broke its ability to use Qt when I was attempting to upgrade it and install some dev tools for something I wanted to try. When I run VLC, I get these errors:
[0x81b3090] main generic error: no dialogs provider module matched "any"
[0x806f758] skins2 interface error: no suitable dialogs provider found (hint: compile the qt4 plugin, and make sure it is loaded properly)
[0x806f758] skins2 interface: skin: subX author: Martin Poehlmann
From what I can tell, the Qt4 plugin is in the correct location (/usr/lib/vlc/gui/libqt4_plugin.so), so I'm not sure what's causing it to fail. As far as I can tell, it's some conflict among Qt packages between existing ones and ones that I tried to upgrade. Is there a way to get a list of all qt packages that come installed by default and their versions so I can attempt to revert back to it?
I have the packman repostory added, but I can't find recordmydesktop when searching for software....
