Aug 10, 2010I get the error: Could not start process Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'magnet'.
View 3 RepliesI get the error: Could not start process Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'magnet'.
View 3 RepliesKtorrent frequently quickly flashes a message, which I believe says something like :
klauncher unable create io-slave for kde proxy
Sometimes the KDE notifier shows up an error that freeze up plasma creating a bucle for infinite notices saying the same thing: "Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: unknown protocoll <<amarok-sqltrackuid>>".
Sometimes same notice appears about 16 consecutive times before plasma crashes.
This is:
KDE 4.6, Amarok 2.4, openSUSE 11.3 32bits.
I am playing around with RH for the first time. I have two applications which insist on using names for network ranges - so they need /etc/networks. I created one on the RH box as suggested via google but the apps still cant see the names (basically they are not reading /etc/networks). What is the correct process to create network names on RH? Basically the equivalent of solaris /etc/networks?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just reinstalled opensuse 11.4 on a lenovo ideapad. The install went well and afterwards I was installing other packages. In the midst of this I started getting a error both from the gui software management package and zypper.(I tried zypper to see what would happen). We have a Oracle 11.2 database running on Red Hat 5.5. The database have a scheduled job to fetch some files from another server using ftp, and herein lies the problem.he job runs a pl/sql that runs the function in an (by us compiled) external libraryThe ftp-functionality itself is done by using libncftp and it's API's.The process starts correctly, but then trying to login to the actual ftp host, ncftp only reports "Unknown username/password" (which is not the case).I have the exact same code in an executable and when run from an interactive shell, it works fine.So the only thing I can come up with, is there are differences when the process is started by Oracle, rather then being ordinary" process. And I am stuck. If there are any environment variables, paths etc missing when running the extproc-process, how do I find out which?Because the real problem is NOT wrong user or password.

My computer gets internet through wireless and I want to share that internet through its ethernet port. So far I've tried using Knetworkmanager to create a network bridge between my wireless and wired connections. I created a new wired connection and shared it using the ip address settings. I was able to get both connections active, but the device hooked up via ethernet had no internet connectivity.
I also tried this command:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
but another test resulted in the same fashion (no internet on wired). I believe anything I add to /proc should have an immediate effect, correct?
I am trying to setup Rocks Cluster on a Cluster containing 1 Master node and 23 slave nodes connected via a Switch. The master node's eth1 is connected to public IP and eth0 is connected to the slave nodes via the switch.
I was able to install the Rocks cluster on the machine, I configured the IP for master through DHCP. When I run the command 'insert-ethers' on the master node, it doesnot get me any slave nodes.
setting up the Rocks cluster on all the nodes?
I just updated from 9.04 to 9.10 (it's a long story, and I still can't go beyond 2.30).The update got rid of WICD, which is what I used and installed network-manager. Network-manager was not working at all, so I uninstalled it again and installed WICD. I could connect perfectly and had no problems. However, now the computer hangs during boot, saying that init can't start network-manager. I assume that something went wrong during the uninstalling process, since it wasn't updated.
This is the message: init: Failed to spawn network-manager main process: unable to execute: No such file or directory.
So how do I update it or manually change it so it stops requesting network-manager?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using an Acer Aspire 5536 AMD dual core laptop with a 64bit installation of Susie 11.4. Using 11.2 I had no problems connecting to the wireless router. As soon as 11.4 was installed, clean install, and the laptop rebooted, network manager failed to start, until manually invoked and then enabling networking through the system tray. Even after this it will not connect to a wired or wireless network sometimes for more than 30 minutes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedUsing OpenSUSE 11.4 on a backup server. At boot, it needs to connect to the main server's NFS share. Watching the text scroll up the screen, it's obvious that the system waits for anything up to several minutes showing 'mounting NFS...'. Once it (eventually) passes that point, the rest of the boot procedure is as fast as expected.
If NFS is disabled at boot, normal boot times are restored. If the NFS client is restarted via 'rcnfs restart' once the system is up and running, it's instant. If NFS is disabled at boot and started manually afterwards, it start instantly. Once running, NFS behaves normally. The backup server has two ethernet ports, connected via a switch to the main server, which also has two ethernet ports. All ports are configured via DHCP from a router, with all addresses reserved on the router so that all important devices are kept at the same locations.
I would like to use zypper to update openSUSE 11.2 through the Virtual Terminals (tty1 thro' tty6).
Network Interface is wlan0 (Wireless LAN, home network through a Router) that requires a password using WPA2.
My question is how to start wlan0 through the command-line ?

I updated Samba to 3.5.1 as shown in: Fixing "Authorization Dialog" bug in Samba for 11.2 - openSUSE ForumsWhen I copy files between two copies of Samba in two openSUSE 11.2 PC's with the new update, I get Samba Process Unexpectedly Died (in Dolphin). This happens going from Computer 1 to 2 or 2 to 1, it does not matter and the error is the same.
After reverting back to Samba version 3.4.2 in both PC's, all files copied between PC's work fine again. Though the "Authorization Dialog" bug is gone, not all seems right with the newest update version.

When the elecricity came again i tried to connect the internet for online updation, but all in vain. No page is openup though the terminal told me that "You are already logged in with process id 1425." When i typed the command to kill the process it said that there is no such process running.

I tried connect to internet through iPhone (bluetooth tether), so I followed one tutorial... It said I have to change "networkmanager" to "ifup" in yast>network settings, and make some other changes... I did it, but I couldn't connect via iphone... OK... I put back all changes, also changed ifpu to networkmanager.
After reboot, Knetowrkmanager gives me "network management disabled" on startup, instead of list of my networks.
Of course, I google for solution, but without any luck. And then, I don't know why, I killed Knetworkmanager, start it again, and.. it worked!
But now, I have to kill it, and start again always, when I reboot my laptop...(HP Compaq 6720s, BCM4312, KDE 4.3.4)
Just upgraded fro 9.10 to 10.04, and went to start VMware player. It needed to load and compile some modules.
All of them got a nice green tick except the Virtual Network Device
Unable to start services. See log file /tmp/vmware-root/setup-2986.log for details.
I cant access that log file. Set the folder to read only, and any contents, but theres no file in there.
How do I solve this so I can run WMware?
how can I create an icon on the KDE4-desktop to start a program?
The program to start was not installed with YAST.
I'm trying to find how to schedule a process to start at a specific time (not on start up). How would I schedule a process/application to start at a specific time (if it matters, it will be a background process). For instance, have process abc start every weekday at 5am. I've done this for windows many times though have only been using linux regularly for a few months and haven't figured out the best way of doing this.
So far the best solution I have is to create a program that will start on boot and have it check the time and sleep until the required time and then start the required process(es) at the required time(s). But this seems more of a hack since I'd expect there to be a proper way of doing this.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running a modified version of OpenSUSE 11.1 from the susestudio builder. I've run across a weird issue whereby gparted is unable to create anything more than an hfs filesystem.
It seems that the package libparted simply doesn't exist in any of the repositories I'm using. I am figuring this would affect what gparted is able to do, although I'm unsure since the program itself runs fine.
