OpenSUSE Network :: Apache2 - Server Doesn't Work And Say's "No Database Selected"
Oct 17, 2010
I broke my apache server. I went into the Yast administrator / HTTP Server and enabled the "rewrite" module. The server stopped working so I went back in and disabled it. Now the server still doesn't work and when I try browsing to any of the sites on it all I see is a page that says "No database selected" for any sites using databases. For static sites I get a 404 error. I broke rule #1 and didn't have back-up configuration files so now I'm stuck. What could the Yast module have done to my configuration files? I have restarted apache several times and even re-booted the computer.
I have a multi-user machine with several network interfaces (Ethernet, if that matters). I wish to grant selected users, or groups, full access to selected network interfaces (including ability to adjust IP address and to bind to low ports, but *only* on those interfaces). It is important to me that an user/group does not such full control over other interfaces. Granting partial, or temporary, root permissions is OK; it's a friendly environment. How do I go about it?System: Linux 2.6.recent; usual Debian setup (can be adjusted if needed).
I'm trying to set up 2 aliases with PHP files in it. But in both cases I get a 403 Forbidden error. This is what the /etc/apache2/conf.d/alias file looks like:
The main thing preventing me from going Linux although I have it installed in a multi-boot is the probelm I have with Reconnecting the Network (eth0)
If I reboot everything is fine and I am automatically connected to internet via my Ethernet_NAT_router/Homeplug_PowerLine/Cable_Router (using DHCP)
But if I manually disconnect the Network using the tray icon, or through the terminal, when I reconnect the Network Manager says I am reconnected but actually I am not connected to the internet. I can load my Cable Routers configuration page but pages beyond that in the outside world are accessible no longer...
To regain access I have to reboot.
The reason this is important for me is that I reckon if I could get this sorted then if I put the laptop to sleep it will will wake up and reconnect.
As it is using Linux sleep function is unworkable unless I don't mind losing internet.
I am determined to get this sorted eventually as I feel sure there must be a solution. My laptop isn't new but is a good workhorse.
we have here a few openSUSE-machines (some 11.1 and 11.2) which mounts their /home from a NFS-Server and imports the users via NIS. I now wanted to use X-Forwarding via SSH, but that doesn't work with NIS-Users.On my machine I use Gnome and my XAUTHORITY-Variable points to /var/run/gdm/auth-for-bup_deg-E3TMSz/database
Why isn't the default ~/.Xauthority-File used for my cookies? What do I have to change to get X-Forwarding in my Setup running?
i have huawei usb stick modem, i'm connecting to internet with wvdial command, i have configured the file "wvdial.conf" to be able to connect, everything works fine i guess but the update applet still show me the message
Code: Unable to check whether updates are available
connect to the internet and connection manager too .. it tell me i'm not connected, i think i must configure my connection in an other way .. but i don't know how ..
I got everything working except any localhost connections from within the server. I've tried to connect using localhost, 127.0.0.1, and dedicated IP from within the server and several CMS sites I have moved over to the server and all the local host connections fail.
I have an appliance called my_appliance.raw. To start the appliance locally, I use:
[code]...
After that I would like to ssh into the guest from the host but just the ssh command doesn't work. firewall is disabled on guest. the ip I use is the one that ifconfig shows when I run it on guest. sshd is running.
I'm trying to move a mysql 5.1.50-community InnoDB database from one location to another. When starting the service I get:Starting MySQL.Manager of pid-file quit without updating file [FAILED]I've searched for a way to do this but I can only find people who describe what I've just done.
I'm having mysterious wired network problem with my Karmic/9.10 machine. It hasn't been in network a while, but now I finally got the cabling done. I can't get the IP from dhcp server (TW-EA510), and static settings doesn't work either. Fresh cabling showed OK 1Gb connection on tester, and win7 laptop works fine. I even tried with long cable though the rooms, but it doesn't help, so it definately isn't the new cabling.

Motherboard is some old Lanparty with two ethernet ports, NVidia CK804 and Marvell 88E800 rev 13 Gigabit netwok adapters, neither of them works. At least another of them has been worked earlier when I last got it wired. It's been a while, so I'm not sure which one of them and with different router if that matters.
I'm running 10.04 with Apache2/PHP5.x I wanted to test some basic cgi scripts, but my browser is displaying the code (#!...) If I run the scripts on the console, they work fine so CGI is not the problem, it's apache. To install the CGI module I ran sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-perl2 with no problems. By the way, I installed Apache through apt-get instead of doing it manually, but it seems that the installation divides the conf file in different parts, so the regular apache2.conf has this:
Code: # Include module configuration: Include /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/*.load Include /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/*.conf # Include all the user configurations: Include /etc/apache2/httpd.conf # Include ports listing Include /etc/apache2/ports.conf [Code]....
I can't figure out what I need to do to get CGI working on my server.
Recently I got a very rare database issue, it says: Error: Couldn't read status information for table clients_copy () mysqldump: Couldn't execute 'show create table `clients_copy`': Table 'adm_retail.clients_copy' doesn't exist (1146) Error: Couldn't read status information for table dt_mx_emp ()
Because I was getting some package errors, I ran the Repair Installed System option that shows up after boot. During System Check when earching for package databases,YaST2 is not able to find /var/lib/rpm/Filemd5s. After a while, a YaST2 box pops up and says that it Successfully rebuilt the package databaseïbut I get the same error when I run System Check again. I've chosen both Rebuild Package Database as well as Revert to Original Package Database (saved by YaST)In both cases, it saysat it was successful, but the same error occurs the next time I run System Check
THIS ISN'T A SCRIPTING ERROR! I'M USING PHPMYADMIN (or trying to)! People on #httpd are useless for help.
Well, ir jus installed Apache2 and PHP5 on my openSuSE 11.2 server, and I just get blank pages for PHP, but HTML works fine. Ima jus guess this is a common error.
i try to install bugzilla on suse 11.2. For that i want to add a new user / group to the apache2. I want to add the following commands to the envvars but there is no such file available
I'm running apache2 and I installed php5 with yast. httpd2 -M states that php5 is loaded. /etc/apache2/conf.d/php5.conf is being included in httpd.conf and it contains:
The first line was added by me since that's what mime.types actually contains.
php.ini is in /etc/php5/apache2 and since I was not sure apache/php was finding it I added a PHPIniDir "directive" into httpd.conf. I have not changed it.
Test file is the typical /srv/www/htdocs/info.php with <?php infophp(); ?>
Normal index.htm is working fine. php -a is working fine.
I spent a long afternoon around this configuration and I looked in plenty of pages for solutions. I only do occasional system administration so I might have easily overlooked something trivial, but I run out of ideas.
There is a thread in this web site with a similar problem but no solution:
Php5 not recognized in SUSE 10.2 Apache2
What could be missing/wrong if php5 is loaded and the addhandler is defined? How can I further test?
I'm completely new to this whole hosting on linux thing. I'm using apache2 and have everything setup as if I was doing it on a windows machine but when I navigate to the site via URL it displays the source code as plan text and thats all I see. I'm running openSuse 10.3.
I am trying to install BackupPC on openSUSE 11.4 64 bit.BackupPC is complaining that I am not running the Apache server as user backuppc but as user with id 0 (root)I have the following in the /etc/apache2/uid.conf (which is getting read as I can put a syntax error in the file and it complains):
User backuppc Group www
When I run either the httpd2-itk (default in rcapache2) or the plain httpd2 processes and then do a:
ps aux
The user reported as running the http processes is root NOT backuppc. On a openSUSE 11.3 machine where I have BackupPC running successfully the ps command returns backuppc as the user running the processes. Is this something others are seeing or do I have some configuration incorrect?
I have installed the package "Web and LAMPP Server" with the YAST2 installation manager on my openSuse 11.1. The installation runs well without any error messages. When I try to start Apache2 in the YAST2 runlevel manager or from the command line it fails. The start problem seems to me simular as amavis configuration. I have to configure /etc/amavisd.conf before a was able to start amavis in the YAST2 runlevel manager.
How can I make Apache2 to start? Do I have to configure a special file before I am able to start Apache2 in the YAST2 runlevel manager or why doesnt Apache2 start?
I have suse10 64 bit installed. I am setting up a svn server on it. After installation and adding the modules ,while reloading the apache2 it's throwing the error as: HTML Code: httpd2-prefork: Syntax error on line 113 of /etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 31 of /etc/apache2/sysconfig.d/loadmodule.conf: Cannot load /usr/lib64/apache2/mod_dav_svn.so into server: /usr/lib64/libsvn_subr-1.so.0: undefined symbol: apr_memcache_add_server
I have x11 forwarding enabled in /etc/ssh/sshd_config on a suse 11.2 32 bit box running kde I can open x apps on a windows machine using xming and putty just fine, but when I boot the same machine into suse 11.2 64 bit using kde and try using konsole I get: cannot connect to x server
The command I'm using to log in is: ssh -X -l username host I doubt the problem is with the server I'm logging into or it wouldn't work in windows, not really sure what to look for as I've never had a problem using x11 forwarding from a linux client before only windows ones
Starting web server: apache2[Wed Dec 09 15:36:40 2009] [warn] NameVirtualHost XX.XX.XX.XXX:80 has no VirtualHosts(99)Cannot assign requested address: make_sock: could not bind to address 68.178.232.100:80 no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs failed!
When you need to change something on the server you can hook up a monitor and a keyboard and do it through the console.
I would like to hook up an external monitor in this fashion for a desktop. The current video card can only support a single display. So I was hoping there was someway to use a second monitor as just a permanent console since simple text shouldn't require a video card?
How to connect my mysql database server from outside network. because its locally works and i cant able to connect from outside and different networks. when i try i am getting like this error.
ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on '123.136.126.179' (113)
This is my second day trying to learn opensuse. My lack of terminology makes it very hard to google for the answers. I need to do this: opensuse:~ # yast2 install postgresql-server apache2 perl texlive perl-DBD-Pg libapr-util1-dbd-pgsql I know about yast, however this looks like something that needs to ran from terminal.
i've installed it on my parents old computer, mostly for downloading. But wired internet did work all the time but then i had to reset our router because of some problems and now it doesn't work anymore! But the strange thing is, if i put the cable on my own laptop with windows on it, then it works as normal.
So i guess its some kind of DNS problem, but i'm very new with ubuntu and also not so good with computers. Our network is simple just an modem connected to an router: Sitecome WL-341.
