OpenSUSE Network :: Web Pages Loads Very Slowly

Mar 16, 2010

I'm using KDE Version 4.4.00 on OS11.2 all my browsers (konqueror, firefox, chrome) webpages loads painfully slowly on vista same connection, same machine is loading is faster. I did not notice this in OS11.1 on same machine.I tried disable IPv6 in boot and in firefox but it did not improve situation significantly. I still get long looking up of dns time after time.Am I "paranoid" or is there some way I can address this this slow loading issue?

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Connect To Wireless Network Before KDE Loads Up

Apr 11, 2010

One of the biggest issues i have at the moment is that my network based plasmoids on my KDE desktop load before my wireless network connection is established, so i'm thinking it would be best to start up the wireless connection at boot time. On previous distro's, I did this with netcfg but I can't seem to figure out how to do so in OpenSUSE 11.2. Is this the best way to manage this issue or is it possible to set a delay before the plasmoids load up?

Windows redraw very slowly when you move them, i.e. you move window and it redraws when you passed about half of the screen. Everything except that works fine as usual. Maybe anyone has any ideas what could happen?I have OpenSuse 11.3 with KDE 4.4.4, Radeon HD 4870 (proprietary drivers, but i've installed it long ago and it's likely not the problem).

Fedora :: Apache Not Parsing Php Pages / Trying To Run Php Script In Browser Its Not Opening Php Pages?

I have a Cent OS 5.4 32 bit final installed in my dedicated server.

I used to run lighttpd with php in my server until now and all was fine. But yesterday I changed my website which needs apache to run. So installed apache using yum install httpd command.

Then I added the virtual host name of my domain in webmin panel but when i try to run my php script in browser then its not opening php pages.

Instead it downloads php files like index.php when i open in browser. So I guess apache is not able to compile and run php pages. Only html pages are opening right now..

Fedora Networking :: Setting Up A Vlan Network And After Reading Several Man Pages?

Sep 8, 2010

I'm currently setting up a vlan network and after reading several man pages I still have 2 questions / problems:

1. I would want to put several subnets into one vlan.Meaning for example, I want to have the following Vlans with subnets:

vlan1 10.1.1.0/24
vlan2 10.1.2.0/24
vlan3 10.1.3.0/24
vlan3 10.1.4.0/24
vlan3 10.1.5.0/24

Is that possible?

EDIT: I found a sample configuration, sadly without any comments, where there are defined some interfaces named vlan1:0 trough vlan1:3. Could that be the option I've been looking for. However in the definition of the vlan1 device it is configured with the subnetmask 255.0.0.0 . I would like to know the mechanics of that option, too.

2. In the wlan part of the network I want to have a dhcp server distributing ip addresses. However I want hosts the server 'knows' (by mac address) to be in a different vlan than those unknown. Is there any way to achieve that? If yes, do I need special wlan access points or can I do it by my configurable switch or by the server?

Fedora Hardware :: Internet And Network - Really Slow Loading Of Pages

May 31, 2011

I recently bought my laptop (Fujitsu nh540) and installed FC14 on it. I have Integrated WLAN Atheros HB97 (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) (more info here about the config) running on: 2.6.35.13-91.fc14.i686.PAE

Since I installed FC I've had problems with the internet. In any browser pages load very slow, it looks like the browser waits some seconds, sometimes even 1-2 minutes until it actually starts to load the page.

Second thing I saw is that when it boots I keep getting:
Determining IP information for eth0... failed; no link present. Check cable? [FAILED]
But I have WiFi internet. I am not using a wired internet connection.

I installed madwifi driver (compiled it, after reading some info on google and it seems it should be good for my network) and it seems it's a bit better, but I still have to wait some seconds until it starts loading pages. I tried different browsers, it makes no difference. On my other 2 laptops I have no problems, the internet works fine, same goes for my android mobile phone. Another "nice" problem I noticed is that when compiz is enabled I see incoming video on skype black and the same black screen for some movies with some programs. After disablig compiz, all works for video.

OpenSUSE Install :: After New Installation, Loads Only Half At Splash?

Dec 8, 2009

this is the 3rd time in 2 days I have installed this OS and its starting to annoy me. I have a Intel Celeron 2.6Ghz with i845 graphic chipset. I have installed 11.2RC2 and after the installation finishes and I reboot, it automatically asks which resolution I want (VESA/VGA). I have to select VESA since the VGA resolutions are HORRIBLY HUGE. When the boot screen comes, it loads halfway and then comes to a crashing halt. I let it load for 2 hours yesterday and it did NOTHING. After turning the computer off and back on, it comes to a screen to load normally or into failsafe. If I choose normal mode it does the same, if I choose failsafe, it does the same. So basically I have an OS I can't reach. If I could, I would give an xorg.conf on here, but I can't even get anywhere to produce one! When I put the live CD in, it boots perfectly, but I have to install again, only to get a OS that wont boot yet AGAIN.

OpenSUSE Install :: 11.2 Loads Debug Kernel Not Default / Change It?

Dec 23, 2009

Recently, I upgraded 11.1 to 11.2. Everything seemed to go fine. However, for some reason the system boots with the debug kernel - 2.6.31.5-0.1-debug. According to Yast every kernel under the sun seems to be loaded on the system. Grub, however, gives two choices - one for the regular and one for the failsafe system. They both boot to the debug kernel.

How do I get this thing to load into the regular, as opposed to the debug, kernel?

OpenSUSE Hardware :: No Sound On Web Pages

Jan 2, 2010

i recently got a logitech clearchat pro headset for christmas. i configured it as the primary soundcard and, after i select it as master channel in kmix, it works perfectly.the problem now is that whenever i want to listen to sound on webpages (ie. videos) through anything but the headset, well, i can't.it seems now that browsers don't recognize that the headset's been unplugged, so they still try to play through the empty usb port. system sounds and amarok recognize when the headset's not there - the system says, when the logitech's been unplugged, that it "no longer works, falling back to hda intel" - but the web browsers, mozilla firefox and google chrome, don't produce any sound.

i've tried changing "hda intel" back to the primary sound card, but then the system doesn't automatically switch to the logitech headset when it's plugged in because it's not of "higher priority".
