I',ve recently installed suse 11.2 on my vaio vgn-nr31e. one of the(several...)things that i'm not been able to do,is to install knew skins on xmms player,that i've allready installed. can't copy compressed downloaded skins to usr/share/xmms/skins...and by the konsole i'm getting error when trying to ./configure,after downloading and decompressing.
View 4 RepliesNo matter which skin I choose for audacious, it looks mostly purple. Even *.wsz skins that I have downloaded from winamp. Here's the skin the way it should look:

I would like to try a different skin for xine. Is there a package I can download? I would like something besides black. It gets hard to see things at times.
-xmms does support the "Expensive Hi Fi", wich as i told i've allreday installed and works.
-Xmms doesn't support the "Analog Vu Meter Plugin" for that skin, wich i don't know were to download(i only am able to see the images of it at [url]?content=49220"-3rd picture bellow, left side-the "Sony Vu's").
-The http page refers the skins and the plugin to KDE graphic environment, i'm using GNOME, and i'm not shure that this may make any difference.
-After the exausting net reading, i think...?, that Audacious does support the "Expensive Hi Fi" and the "Analog Vu Meter Plugin".
As i told, i don't give up that easy, and Audacious seems to be some upgrade or evolution of Xmms, and it as that "retro classic" look that i like and can be personalized like Xmms.
So, i've allready installed Audacios, with all the necessary codecs and libraries, and it's working so well as Xmms worked.
But know i'm having another problem :
-To personalize skins in Audacious(...more exausting net reading...), the operation should be so easy as:
-For any skin that we want(*.wal;*.wsz or compressed one's...), download it and copy it into:/users/share/audacious/Skins, wich i've allready tried(such as skins pasted into .xmms), but i get this error message:"Permission denied"!
is there some repository where I can find xmms for 11.3? (no xmms2)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI Currently have the problem of not being able to install xmms on suse 11.3, apparently since there's no way to install it from the packman repos because xmms claims it's missing glib 1.22 -oh yeah that one. But since it worked like a charm on 11.2 i'm just wondering if the glib, gtk, and gdk rpms will be present in the future or have i just missed something. I've tried to compile gtk 1.2 and above on 11.3 but since it is a 64bit system it do not comply with my request.Output from glib-1.2.2 and 1.2.10

How to install XMMS from source with the Flac plugin. It was originally based on howto's from blogs. I have tested this on Karmic Koala and it should work fine.
We will start off with XMMS. We'll take the plugin later..

Now, when I go to view them from Vista machines (32 or 64, IE or Firefox), they look compressed or skinny like this: [URL] When viewed on other Ubuntu or XP machines, they look fine.

On a Linux CD/DVD, there are compressed filesystem images for the live version for KDE or Gnome for example, but they have no extension, but they are clearly an image file ( compressed filesystem images for the live version before installation ) !!
I was wondering, How do I mount these compressed filesystem images, after I copy the ISO content of the CD/DVD on my system .... I want to edit some files or packages and make some changes, like if I want to customize a live version of gnome for example ! ... ( I know you might be tempted to tell me to use KIWI etc to customize etc ..... ) ... but I want to be able to mount the compressed file system image, then edit it for reading and writing while it is in a subdirectory on its own ... i want to open it ! ... is there a way to do this ??? ... these type of files have no extension ...
i can open this compressed filesystem image then to edit for read & write ... before I roll it back again ..... If and when I succeed .... what should I watch out for ? ... will the same compressed file image but slightly modified work again ?
PS. that same question could be kind of translated or be extended like : how do I use unionfs/squashfs programs on the command line to mount these image files with no extension for read & write mode ???
Since i upgrade to Maverick, i can't copy file to a W2003 share using Nautilus via gvfs. I can delete and create files, but I can't copy. But it works in command line with cp. I tried on a samba share, on a XP Pro share, it works. It works on W2003 share only for small files (less than 16 ko)

I can view the share folder on server from win7 I can read files but cannot right to the share. However from Xubuntu I was able to read and write no problem. So the question is... why can't windows 7 read and right like xubuntu? I have 2 win7 machines and both were denied writing to the share folder... I'm by no means an expert.. I setup the share using ubuntu server guide pdf... not sure if its done correctly maybe someone here knows off hand what kind of permissions would be causing this.

I need a command-line method of copying files from a Linux box to a Windows machine that is in a domain and requires authentication. I cannot install additional software or services on the Windows XP machine. I can install any software on the Linux machine. I've tried scp, but the connection failed and if my understanding is correct it is because scp requires that the target (windows machine) be running an ssh service. Is there a command-line linux utility that can pass Windows domain user and password and then copy a file from the linux machine to a share on the windows machine?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere are a number of shares on the destination system; for the purposes of this thread I used D$ and F$ (corresponding to those partitions). These shares are mounted permanently via CIFS (entries in fstab) on the source system.Today I copied an ISO image of some 3.5 GB from source (S) to destination (D). md5sum on S gave a different checksum for the source ISO than that calculated by HashCheck Shell Extension for the destination ISO. I know some would argue that I shoud use the same md5sum programm for both images.
To circumvent that I 7zipped the ISO, verified it's integrity and copied that archive from S to D. Verification of the acrchive by the Win version of 7z failed.To see if it's a protocol problem I copied both ISO and archive of ISO to another D this time using sshfs (it's an Ubuntu server). Flawless copies.Then I copied both files to another Win-based server on the same network. Flawless copies.Mystified, I checked the partition's file system integrity (NTFS) where the errors occured. Minor inconsistencies (no errors according to chkdsk). So I copied both files again, once to another partition (D:) of the original D, once to that partition causing the error in the first place (F:).
(D:): archive corrupt, checksum okay
(F:): this time around both okay.
What the hell can I do to nail down the problem?! I don't even know whether it's a problem of the source system or the destination.
We have 10.x ubuntu server with XP clients. We have samba share folders at LAN. Is there any possibility that we can disable copy and paste option for some specific folders, while other data folders remain as usual in our shared data?

1. all the packages downloaded are gone?, can I restart the installation using all those packages downloaded?
2. where I can find the error or problem that cause that the installation was freezed?
3. in the case that installation needs to start from the beginning, can I use the package downloaded?

View 6 Replies View Relatedi have downloaded a game called YSFlight but there is no sound on it. I previously played this game on Windows so i know it does have sound. i HAVE installed "YSFlight for Linux" so i know that isn't the problem, and i have also checked all of the sound settings. Every other 'sound' that is with Ubuntu Linux works fine (music, video, error/notifications).
I am using Ubuntu Linux 10.10 with a Dell Inspiron 1525 which previously had Windows Vista Basic 32 bit. I have never had a sound problem with this laptop. Does anyone have any ideas of what is wrong? I am currently running Ubuntu Linux via a disk (the "Try It" option), to test programs that i like, and this is where i found the problem *
So I downloaded a bunch of movies on Ubuntu, which work fine. They are on a shared drive, so when I look at them using Windows 7 they are displayed as a 'file' rather than an .avi
They can still be opened and played in VLC and play fine
