Every time I try to reproduce a MKV file I get the following error:
No suitable decoder module: VLC does not support the audio or video format "h264". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.
This was working a few days ago with no issues. I think stop working after the last update (not 100% sure). I have tried to uninstall and installed back again, but didn't work.
I just want to know if there is any way to play .wmv on ubuntu 10.10, I tried VLC but it always give me that Error message :

Okay, so far nothing seems to have worked. I have OpenSuSE 11.0 and due to a failed mother board and hard drive had to reinstall it. Since the reinstall I have not been able to play .wmv files. I can play the same file just fine on my laptop but not on my desktop.I have win32codecs installed as well as libdvdcss and several other packages and still I cannot play these files with the following:
Kaffeine
Mplayer
VLC Player
I have searched and everything points to win32codecs (which are installed and the same version as I have on my laptop). I have tried deleting all the video player files including win32codecs, libdvdcss and their config files then reinstalling and that doesn't seem to have worked at all either. So I don't know what else to do.
Arista Decoder has decided to simply not open.When called from the menu it shows a window in the Panel but will not open and then disappear.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed the Fluendo decoder following the tutorial linked to from here (but just downloaded the RPM so I wouldn't have to unpack anything). Now "fluendo-codecs-mp3" is showing up in my software manager as having been installed, but I still can't play MP3 files in either Amarok or Kaffeine. One thing I've noticed is that, in the software manager, under "Installed (Availabled)" it says "11-3" in red.This was such a simple thing to fix in Ubuntu, I'm baffled by how much trouble I'm having right now. Please help me so that I can justify the eight hours I spent downloading openSUSE. I love the interface and would hate to go back to Ubuntu's oranges and browns (and Gnome).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried to install the H.264 decoder and MPEG=4 AAC, by going to Install/Remove software in openSUSE 11.3 and found h264enc - H.264/MPEG-4 Encoder Frontend,I installed it but nothing seemed to happen when it comes to viewing Quicktime movies. I also noticed that when I right-click on the Quicktime screen, it gives me the option to play the video using Banshee. I then launch it and I doeble click on the video that is listed, the banshee logo flashes and nothing happens. Can someone tell me a way to resolve this, is there a way to resolve it.

I think the problem is in the command perl Makefile.PL --with-apache2-apxs=/path/to/apache2/bin/apxs in section .../path/to/apache2/bin/apxs . What does mean ./path/to/apache2/bin/apxs? Maybe I should write the path to apache2 which contains a file named apxs? I did not find such file apxs. My apache2 path is /etc/apache2, but there is no file named apxs... Since my latest update to Ubuntu Lucid, VLC is no longer working. When starting VLC, I get an impractical dark interface that doesn't response to any command.

It looks like a Qt4 problem, I have installed Qt4 with all possible dependencies, re-installed vlc several times but no effect! cvlc as proposed doesn't react.
I have been working with Ubuntu for the last 6 months. Overall, I am all behind linux and open source. However, what I cannot figure out is why [in Ubuntu] or how can an app work for a while, then stop working within the same distro? My iPod was working great with HiPO, Banshee, and Rhythmbox and now, after the latest upgrade, it's not working.

I was been out of using ubuntu for while and came back.However since I have installed Karmic Koala 10 to 15 minutes I start the usb mouse stop working, then the wireless connection and then freezes I cannot do nothing. My Computer is a Laptop Toshiba Intel ATI Video Card.

The short version of why I didn't notice this immediately is that I have two simultaneous audio outputs from my system to my speakers and I hadn't realized the IEC958 output wasn't in use.After messing around with a few settings to no avail, I remembered that I'd recently run update manager (this had to be within the last two weeks) and thought this might be the cause.I have just booted to a 10.10 install disc and verified the IEC958 output works fine there.
Unfortunately I'm not sure which of the recent updates could have caused this problem. Before I submit a bug report on launchpad I was hoping anyone here might have a suggestion as to where to look to figure this out.I'd recently seen this thread and this thread which lead me to believe it may have been a recent kernel update.What's my best course of action to determine the problematic update?[edit]In case anyone needs the info, I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit on a system with an Intel DH57JG motherboard. Using the HDMI output to a TV, with a separate optical audio cable to my speakers.Also, I've attempted using all of the available digital audio output options in the sound preferences panel and I've also installed gnome-alsamixer and tried enabling/disabling every digital output listed there as well. None of these got the optical output working again.
About some days ago my sound card (an Nvidia CK804 integrated with motherboard, OS ver is 11.3) stop working. I receive a notification each time I start KDE and if I try to test the card from Multiedia Control Module
I suspect that maybe some recent update could produce the problem, if it is so probably there are someone here that has faced the same issue.
The card works fine on windows, so there isn't a hardware problem.
Using Gnome and openSUSE 11.2 . Ok. I changed few keyboards to see if that is a hardware problem . Obviously its not. Whatever keyboard layout I choose .. same story repeats : USA , SRB, GER... I tried to change "key to chooose 3rd level option" in keyboard preferences: right alt, right win , left alt , left win ... but nothing works .
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen starting my Latitude D830 from suspend to ram it was suddenly missing touchpad and trackpoint support. I restartet and updated but still, both devices aren't even listed in yast anymore. Keyboard and bluetooth mouse work fine, though.
Running synclient TouchpadOff=0 says Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?. Now, i googled a bit and all i could find was some tinkering with the xorg.conf, what is especially ugly, since suse doesn't normally use one anymore. Plus, xorg.conf gives me flashbacks of allnighters trying to fix me system again
I was able to watch videos that had h.264, but now I can't. when I play the same video from before, it tells me I don't have the codec installed, but when I try to have it installed:
"No packages with the requested plugins found"
is it something I'm missing in the repository?
Upon logging into kde 4.4 the left mouse button (3 button usb mouse) becomes unresponsive on certain windows. For instance the toolbar may still respond to left-click while other windows on the desktop do not register it. However more and more windows/panels become unresponsive rather quickly. The same happens for right-click sometimes but far less often. Some functionality can be recovered by re-plugging the mouse.
Logging out and logging back in solves the problem until the next reboot. I have tried different users and wiping the .kde and .kde4 folders. The problem persists. I can stil work by relogging every time I turn on my computer but it does waste a lot of time so if there are any ideas I'd apreciate it. KDE 4.4 release 3 (There seems to be no updates in YAST available)
I have some avi video taken with a digital camera. It cannot be played in squeeze or lenny. Error says it needs Intel Indeo 5 decoder. I found one here, does it look ok to try it?[URL]..

Running Debian lenny.I want Debian to stop from loading certain kernel module at startup. For now I tried adding "blacklist my_module" line in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist file with no luck.
