I was trying to use GStreamer(0.10.26) to play a mpg file under the latest version of Ubuntu.
I used:
gst-launch filesrc location=test.mpg ! mpegdemux ! mpeg2dec ! ffmpegcolorspace !
ximagesink

When I'm trying to play an .mp4 file I get the message "you need modules MPEG-4-decoder and H.264-decoder". When searching for these message is "cannot be found". I'm running Fedora13 32-bits.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was able to watch videos that had h.264, but now I can't. when I play the same video from before, it tells me I don't have the codec installed, but when I try to have it installed:

is it something I'm missing in the repository?

Arista Decoder has decided to simply not open.When called from the menu it shows a window in the Panel but will not open and then disappear.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed the Fluendo decoder following the tutorial linked to from here (but just downloaded the RPM so I wouldn't have to unpack anything). Now "fluendo-codecs-mp3" is showing up in my software manager as having been installed, but I still can't play MP3 files in either Amarok or Kaffeine. One thing I've noticed is that, in the software manager, under "Installed (Availabled)" it says "11-3" in red.This was such a simple thing to fix in Ubuntu, I'm baffled by how much trouble I'm having right now. Please help me so that I can justify the eight hours I spent downloading openSUSE. I love the interface and would hate to go back to Ubuntu's oranges and browns (and Gnome).

I have been trying to play a .mov video on the internet, and when the video loads, I get an error that says "search for suitable plugin?.........plugin not found: -text/html decoder" and so i try to open it in movie player, it says its streaming, same thing happens. then I try to play it in vlc media player, and i get no message, it just wont play it. I have all the boxes checked in the updates i.e. important, recommended, pre-released, unsupported etc. I also installed the libdvdreader repository. btw another issue im having is that although installing mediubuntu fixed my poor and choppy dvd playback issue in movieplayer, now it plays, but is very "shaky" basically it looks like they had very unsteady hand while filming. I play it in VLC media player and have zero issues, the picture quality is perfect.
I have some avi video taken with a digital camera. It cannot be played in squeeze or lenny. Error says it needs Intel Indeo 5 decoder. I found one here, does it look ok to try it?[URL]..
View 14 Replies View RelatedI tried to install the H.264 decoder and MPEG=4 AAC, by going to Install/Remove software in openSUSE 11.3 and found h264enc - H.264/MPEG-4 Encoder Frontend,I installed it but nothing seemed to happen when it comes to viewing Quicktime movies. I also noticed that when I right-click on the Quicktime screen, it gives me the option to play the video using Banshee. I then launch it and I doeble click on the video that is listed, the banshee logo flashes and nothing happens. Can someone tell me a way to resolve this, is there a way to resolve it.

No suitable decoder module: VLC does not support the audio or video format "h264". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.
This was working a few days ago with no issues. I think stop working after the last update (not 100% sure). I have tried to uninstall and installed back again, but didn't work.
When I try to convert an mp3 to an ogg file with gstreamer like this:

I had been having trouble with Banshee playing podcasts and it turned into a bigger problem. I use VLC so I hadn't noticed, but Totem (and Gstreamer as a whole) can't seem to play h.624 video. All I get is audio, even when I do a command like
gst-launch -v playbin uri=file:///path/to/video.mp4
(Well, now I get nothing, but more on that in a moment).
So I tried reinstalling Gstreamer, and I just tried updating to the Gstreamer Developer PPA. The only change that came from that is that now nothing happens instead of just hearing audio. I've attached the output.
I've gone into gstreamer-properties and tried every configuration. Each time I see the colored stripes and the snowy video corner, but it never seems to make a difference.
When I type gstreamer-properties in to the terminal I get

I just downloaded Arista to convert avi's to mpegs for DVD's and also to view on a mobile device.I add a file "movie.avi" as the source and device as DVD and then click "add to queue" and the file appears in the queue but nothing happens.Also I believe that I have now downloaded all of the necessary gstreamer packages including the ugly multiverse.

I should note that the flac is a rip of an actual Mono Vinyl disc. Am not exactly sure how that was done but I was interested in converting some those files to ogg & mp3. OGG conversion doesn't give any error.
Below is the result when launching soundconverter from the terminal & trying to convert the flac file(s) to mp3 (i just tried ogg to mp3 & the same error occurs):

In that i used to play the video by using command "gst-launch filesrc location=/root/yuvraj.mp4 ! mfw_mp4demuxer ! queue max-size-time=0 ! mfw_vpudecoder ! mfw_v4lsink"it is working fine. but the screen is very small and it is in middle, How to make that full screen and the letters which is in terminal is also coming along with the video. how rectify that problem
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm installing Sound Juicer to rip CDs. The notes say it wants "gstreamer0.10-plugins-really-bad (not available in Debian) to encode to AAC." Now I don't know as I'll want to encode to AAC (I primarily plan to rip to .wav for burning compilation CDs), but I figure I might as well grab it, for completeness . I noticed, on Google'ing for info on that package, comments that seem to indicate its functionality has been replaced by gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad. So, do I still "need" gstreamer0.10-plugins-really-bad?
View 6 Replies View RelatedUp until recently I have had no problem playing all kinds of video in Ubuntu. I recently upgraded to Lucid and I can't remember if I was able to play videos after that, but yesterday I found that I am unable to play flv or MP4 videos in either totem or vlc. Converting them to ogv using ffmpeg allows them to play just fine, and I can edit the flv and mp4 in Avidemux, so there is nothing wrong with the files themselves. Not sure what I've done, can't seem to find a bug in launchpad for this, so I am assuming it is a problem with my setup somehow.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed OSSv4 replacing the default ALSA and everything worked just fine with some workarounds... until I upgraded to Lucid Lynx.
Now apps like Totem and Rhythmbox which use the gstreamer framework have no sound. Does anybody know why?
Everything else works, like gnome-sound-recorder, even flash.
I opened gstreamer-properties from the terminal. Following some directions from another thread, I changed the output to "custom" and filled in a box with a bunch of code that I didn't know anything about. I pressed "test" and it didn't work. Out of frustration, I deleted the text I had written in the box and closed gstreamer-properties. Now it won't open back up. When I try to open it from the terminal I get:
gstreamer-properties-Message: Skipping unavailable plugin 'artsdsink'
gstreamer-properties-Message: Skipping unavailable plugin 'esdsink'
Segmentation fault
That's it. It won't open and when I try to open it directly from its source folder, nothing happens at all. How can I open it back up so I can continue to fiddle with it and (hopefully) fix this blue-tint problem.
I don't know what caused this but running guvcview does not show any gui anymore. Using terminal I have the ff message:

Just installed Clementine audio player, but it won't play mp4s. It says gstreamer is missing a plugin, google search turned up some leads but they didn't lead anywhere. Mp4s work fine in Amarok, and i have already installed the restricted extras package.
