Is there any way to prevent Flash from capturing all keyboard input? I'm really sick of not being able to ctrl+l or ctrl+tab just because I'm watching a video, and today a video froze in fullscreen mode and I couldn't even ctrl+f1 to any terminals or ctrl+backspace to kill KDE. It would be awesome to stop flash from grabbing certain key commands and pass them to the browser or OS instead.

I am unable to capture sound from the sound card. I used to be able to do this with ease in SuSE 10.0 and 11.2. Now I have 11.4 and not only do I NOT have access to the sound card's channels (for base, treble, turning the mic on/off, and line in, Analog Capture Boost, etc) but now I can't seem to get at the settings for capturing sound coming from the sound card. I have tried using the Alsa mixer by way of the terminal and went to the Capture section and turned all of the settings all the way up. I didn't see any settings for Capture Boost as was available with 11.2's Alsa mixer GUI. Here's more of my info:

Isn't there ANY GUI sound mixer available that will give me access to all the channels I require? I not only record sound from my sound card, but I also use my mic at times for Skype and I like to be able to turn it off when not in use, rather than unplugging it all the time. I used to be able to do this with 11.2 and 10.0 and I really liked it that way. BTW, the plug for the mic is in the back of the computer and it's not convenient to have to plug/unplug it from there each time. For some apps, it's just a good thing to have all the sound settings done and in place before starting up the app. This I cannot do right now because of the changes to KMix and the Alsa GUI. I really really don't like this at all.

It has a mic too.I can specify video input device as /dev/video0.I specified input audio device as /dev/dsp2 ( OSS device, corresponding to USB Webcam), Now VLC throws an error, "VLC is unable to open the MRL 'alsa:///dev/dsp2'. Check the log for details".Thinking it wants an alsa device, I specify device as /dev/snd/pcmC2D0c. (got it from kinfocenter and dolphin). Now again an error, "VLC is unable to open the MRL 'alsa:///dev/snd/pcmC2D0c'. Check the log for details.".I try with any device, the same error. I have added myself to audio device so that I can read/write to the mentioned devices.I see no way of switching VLC to use OSS. And I see no information (documentation on net) on it's expected device listing for audio.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently installed openSUSE 11.4-64bit on my Gateway desktop, and I can't seem to get my mic work at all. The mic is built into my Microsoft LifeCam Cinema webcam and works fine when I boot into Windows. The mic will not record sound in krecord or lame and doesn't work during Skype sessions.
According to the literature for the device driver my the mic should be supported, and that is evidenced by the fact that the mic shows up as a capture device in in kmix. I have made this mic the master channel under capture devices and I have given it highest preference amongst my capture devices in both the Communications and Accessibility categories of kmix's Settings/Audio Setup.

I've done my best to implement these fixes, but half of it looks like gibberish to me. All I was really able to do was update my alsa software and generate this comprehensive alsa.conf (its long, so I'll wait to post it until asked).
I've had since updating to 11.4, and I gotta say: I've been really impressed so far.
I'm running suse 11.4 64bit and flash 11.0.1.60 My problem is that when I'm running flash if I give some keyboard input then my mouse (and only my mouse from what I can tell) will freeze for a second or so. This is most annoying when I'm goofing off playing a flash game that requires both keyboard and mouse inputs, since if I use the keyboard for anything I can't use the mouse for a second or so.I've tried searching the forums but I can't seem to find anything on this topic.

I'm trying to capture my desktop screen and audio , before I used xvidcap but after upgrading my system I can not use it and also recordmydesktop anymore these APPs hanged when I try to use them.Now I try to use recorditnow via ffmpeg recorder interface , it work properly in recording the desktop but it does not record the sound , so I tried to add below options to its command -f alsa -ac 2 -i hw:0,0 but it just record sound at the beginning and just for 1 second. View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to record a test video with my built-in webcam, using Cheese. However, after I click "Start recording," the Cheese screen turns black, and Cheese seems to hang. I can click "Stop recording" sometimes -- then I get a split-second video clip. But mostly it just hangs until I force quit.
I'm on an Asus 900HA. I could record video clips on using eeebuntu and Cheese. Is there a setting I need to check?
I have been searching for an answer through most of the recent posts about sound issues but have not been able to find a solution. I am currently unable to capture sound from the "Line" input on my sound card. I do have sound and is working correctly for all applications and I do have P/A disabled (I'm not a huge fan of the sound quality with P/A enabled). I have checked and re-checked many settings but to no avail have not been able to capture sound. I'm sure I may be missing something or have not done something in order for this to work. I was using openSUSE 11.4 on a different pc and had no problems, unfortunately this is a different pc with a different sound card which is on-board so I am not entirely familiar with it yet.
It is a C-media CMI9880 which shows up as a Intel HDA (ICH6) and appears to be configured correctly.
I have two sound devices, an internal audio device on my motherboard and an external USB devices, which came with my headset. After upgrading to 11.4, the microphone on my headset ceased to work with my softphone. As it turned out, the softphone used the standard input device, which was defined in the Phonon tab in the KDE System Settings. Unfortunately, when I put the USB Device on top of the default input stack, it doesn't stay there. When I apply the changes and leave the Phonon tab or even enable "Show advanced devices " the stack always resets to its initial order. I was unable to find any kind of config file where Phonon saves this settings.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using openSUSE 11.2 KDE on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pi 1536 laptop. My problem is that my microphone (I'm attempting to use a 3.5mm headset) doesn't work. Audio playback however does work through the built-in speakers and headphones.
I have gone through the SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE as suggested by oldcpu on the Welcome to multimedia sub-area sticky.

How can I shrink them?

I just made a script to read out /dev/input/event3 into a file (My keyboard is identified here [ Machine is a laptop which runs on slax-atma distro ]). Then used a hexdump to convert the binary into hex. After that used a gwak script to print out the keys corresponding to each keyboard input. So now when I put this in my rc.local , It is taking down all the keys I press. Including login passwords (In short, each and every keys I press).Isn't this a big security risk, because intruder who has a physical access to my machine or has root password can put this file in rc.local and run a script to mail him all the details like my passwords, account and PIN numbers.

When I restore from hibernate I am prompted by two pinentry dialogs for these passphrases. But very often one of these dialogs that is not in focus steals keyboard input from the other dialog. Even worse, they steal keyboard input from fluxbox and other applications and I am unable to do anything until I enter it or click cancel if I do not want to input password right now. How can I forbid pinentry to steal keyboard input and to get it only if it is in focus? I am using pinentry-0.8.0 on Gentoo amd64 with USE="ncurses qt4" (/usr/bin/pinentry is a symlink pointing to pinentry-qt4).UPDATE:After some research, I found that pinentry accepts --no-global-grab option, which, according to the info page, should be used only by developers. Still unsure how to make it default: having#!/bin/zshexec /usr/bin/pinentry-qt4 --no-global-grab $@in place of /usr/bin/pinentry symlink does not work (this script is launched, but option is ignored), if I place it into /usr/local/bin it is not launched at all though I have /usr/local/bin in $PATH before /usr/bin.

I'm trying to diagnose a weird problem ... maybe someone has an idea where to start. I'm having a problem with flash videos. The video part displays as if the fast-forward button is being held down; audio sounds correct.
I'm thinking "synchronization error" (duh!) but I'm not sure how to start to diagnose the issue. I'm running OpenSUSE 11.4 x64, and the problem shows up in both chrome and opera.
I own an ASUS G71V laptop and I run openSUSE 11.2 with latest kernel and patches.
I just tried to use Fn+F10/F11/F12 combinations to regulate volume, just to see if they work.
I found that (from KDE 4.4.3) I can see the pop-up volume indicator going up and down as I press the right combination.
Ok... unfortunately, hardware keys regulate the wrong volume slider as I can see by opening Kmix. The front-microphone channel instead of master is regulated.
Actually, I just found that if I click on the volume icon on the taskbar I get the front mic slider, which seems to be bad.
How can I tell KDE that the default channel is the "master"?
I just lost flash sound on my openSUSE 11.2 x86_64 desktop. I'm using the built-in HDA Intel audio, and I have sound in all other appliations (Amarok, mplayer, Minitube, ect) but not in Flash (I've tried Firefox and rekonq; no dice). I've never had issue with Flash sound before (hough I know many have) and I can't seem to find anything recent or relevant to my issue (most of the problems reference pulseaudio, which I, thankfully, do not have, or are for older versions of Flash).
I'd like to know where to start looking for this issue; it came up fairly recently (I don't use Flash all that often so I can't say when) and I have made no concious upgrades or changes that would affect it (though I do zypper dup pretty regularly). I updated to KDE 4.4 but I had Flash sound afterwards; I also tried downgrading the Flash player to 10.42 (instead of .45), but that didn't help. This issue is global (to all users on the system), so I don't think it's messed up configuration at the user level.
I just bought a new laptop and I installed Opensuse KDE 64 bit on it. This is the first time I tried a 64 bit Linux distribution.
So far all the hardware, including sound and wireless internet, seem to work fine.
I've managed to install all the audio and video codecs I need, but I can't figure out how to install Flash.
I've added the Packman repo, but there only seems to be a 32 bit version of Flash.

I wanted to install a stable version of Linux on my friends system. All other sounds and codecs are working well, except flash in Firefox. This is not a good example. Is there a command line mixer I could check the sound levels on. Like ALSAMIXER for Gnome but for KDE.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi just installed 11.2 and i do not get any audio from flash movies (e.g. videos). (startup sound and amarok work ok). interestingly i do manage to get sound out of flash in a particular circumstance:
* i install 11.2 from the livecd using default settings.
* at the end of the process i log in as a normal user
* in a console as super user i run "zypper install flash-player"
* flash-player and nspluginwrapper get installed (nothing else)
* i start firefox and i am able to play flash movies with sound from videos
* i reboot and log in as a normal user
* i start firefox and now flash movies from videos play without sound
