View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Fujitsu Esprimo P1500 computer with Windows 7 Home Premium. When I try to install OpenSuse 11.2, the keyboard works in the first screen, so I can select "Installation" with the arrow keys. But when the next screen comes up (select keyboard etc.), neither keyboard nor mouse work. Well, the CapsLock and NumLock LEDs light up, but that is all (and hitting the corresponding keys does not turn them off.)

If I just take the mouse and scroll left and right over the desktop, the mouse is "jerky, choppy, randomly freezes, erratic". It occurs all the time. Trying to be more focused and select an object is challenging.
/var/log/messages shows: kernel psmouse.c Explorer mouse at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 1 bytes away Don't know if it is related, but in "Personal Settings" -> "Input Devices" -"Touchpad", there is a "Warning: Touch pad configuration is not supported on this system. ..." I have another virtual machine with the exact same setup running openSUSE 11.2 x86-64, kernel 2.6.31.5-0.1, and the mouse is not "jerky", but I have no wheel support. Comparing logs and config they look alike. I turned off all desktop effects.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a weird situation. After installing openSUSE 11.2 on a machine it has no response to the keyboard and mouse. I then installed Mandriva 2010 on the machine and the keyboard and mouse work.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed the new OpenSuSE 11.2 release and after coming up in graphical mode the keyboard and mouse are not responding at all.
After that via a remote login force the machine back to runlevel 3 and this makes it able to login to the console and trying to start sax2 to make a new X configuration.
Well it doesn't read the old configuration but gets stuck as well.
The install was an update from OpenSuSE 11.1.
I am quite experienced in installing openSUSE. (I used it for many years.) But the problem showed below tricks me out.
I just tried to install openSUSE 11.2. In initmode 3 the keyboard works well. Everything worked well up to the moment I started runlevel 5. In XWindows Modus, the keyboard and the mouse are disabled. And I cannot get back to any other Virtual console.
When I started sax2, I get something (in the file /var/log/Sax.log) or both mouse and keyboard like this:
It indicates , mouse and keyboard are disabled.
Here are my questions:
How can I ENABLE my keyboard and my mouse?
Where is the file that configures sax2?
Do I have to set ("on") the AutoAddDevices? or to "off"
I have just update from 11.1 to 11.2 and after reboot system hangs when arrives to the screen where all users logins are showed. I run the installation again in repair mode. Everything correct. Started system again in Level 3, login as one of the users and run startx. It starts the desktop but no keyboard or mouse is working. Started system again in level 3, login as root, started gdm and same results. It arrives to the login screen for the different users and keyboard and mouse does not work. System seems to be running as clock in the right down works.
Started system again in Level 3, login as root, run SaX2 and same results: no keyboard no mouse. I am running gnome desktop with last image downloaded openSUSE-11.2-DVD-i586.iso. it seems to be something related to bug in OpenSuse 11.2 Milestone 7: (Bugs:Most Annoying Bugs 11.2 dev - openSUSE) HAL may crash, leaving XOrg without keyboard and mouse (Bug #537452), work-around: update with 'hal' package from Base:System
On our SuSe 11.1 PC keyboard and mouse are no more responding although it did work properly until yesterday. We shut down the computer yesterday evening and today they do not work anymore. But it is not a hardware problem, we can use keyboard and mouse until Grub bootloader, but as soon as we start a Linux session (doesn't matter if normal or failsave mode) the keyboard and mouse are disabled, we can see that because the NumLock and CapsLock LEDs are switched off immediately.
We have no idea what happened. We booted from CD into rescue mode and mounted the hard disk manually and checked some logfiles, but the boot.log tells us that USB keyboard and mouse are detected, as well as the Xorg.0.log file. And we found no indication that keyboard or mouse are disabled or something like that.
Installed OpenSUSE in VirtualBox to try out. Boots ok but can't capture mouse! I installed with all defaults and using Gnome. Host OS is Ubuntu. I'm running XP fine in VirtualBox and wanted to test drive OpenSUSE.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded to 11.3 from the terminal. There were a few hiccups, but it said to run "zypper verify," and it downloaded a few files and finished. When I rebooted, the graphics were fine, but the arrow in the middle of the screen is frozen. I can move the mouse till I get carpal tunnel, but the arrow ain't gion' nowhere. So how do I "unfreeze" my mouse? (Besides knitting it a sweater!) I'm hoping for a "ctrl/f2", and that aterminal can be opened that way, with a command to wake up the mouse dameon.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently upgrade my server pc from 11.2 to 11.3 via the net. Everything seems to go through ok. I restarted the PC and now i can not move the mouse or type anything at the login screen.
I can ping the pc fine and i can ssh into it, which tells me the pc is not froozen, just X is?
Today I installed openSUSE 11.3. I finished downloading updates, and restarted. I can get through the grub menu fine, but after that my keyboard and mouse fail to respond. On my windows partition(which is where I'm writing this) my keyboard and mouse work fine. If it matters, they are the Logitech Wireless EX100 keyboard and mouse set.

I can boot in failsafe fine, but the graphics are horrible. My question is, is there a workaround or am I flogging a dead horse with this laptop? This is my first venture into Linux, and I was really keen on leaving windows far behind. I've tried quite a few sax2 commands to no avail.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed suse 11.2 on my system and during the install the keyboard (Microsoft internet keyboard PS/2) and mouse (Microsoft optical mouse USB with scroll wheel) worked perfectly, but once I reached the login screen they both became unusable.
I also tried rebooting into failsafe mode but once reaching the login screen the same happened again, the only key that seems to work is the 'F Lock' key and the optical light appears on the mouse.
I just install an open Suse 11.2 on a nex box, with an ps2 to usb adapter(ps2 keyboard & ps2 mouse are both attached to this adapter) the keyboard is ok,but the mouse is only mooving horizental, in a line (from left to rigth)i can't move the mouse vertical nor to any other direction
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had a normal OpenSuse 11.1 setup, along with Windows XP, swap partition and /home partition. After my hd began failing (badblocks), I cloned the system to a different location (using ddrescue), updated the hd with a new one (bigger), made new partitions on the new hd (preserving the old locations, ex: /dev/sda1 ext3 on old hd still is /dev/sda1 on new one, but made changes to the partitions sizes to make them bigger), recovered all the clones to the new hd, fsck'ed them, recovered grub with install dvd then tried to boot.
On the first boot, it failed to mount / (/dev/sda1) and gave me a command line. I checked /etc/fstab and saw that, on the old setup, it was mounting the partitions based on the HD-id, which obviously changed. I fixed that to use /dev/sda1, /dev/sda2, etc. Now, the systems boots fine. But, when I get to the graphical login part, the keyboard and the mouse don't work. It's a Dell Inspiron 1525 notebook, now with a 320gb samsung hd.
I just installed 11.3 on a Toshiba Satellite A305 laptop. After going through the install process it restarted (without a full reboot I believe) and spent a very long time going through a bunch of message. E.g. it spends about 10-15 minutes building java fonts, and warning me that Japanese/Chinese/Korean might not work in Java.About 20+ minutes after bootup it finishes with all the status messages (including a message that said it couldn't execute /usr/bin/cmp !?) and goes to a blank screen with a mouse sprite -- first a spinning circle, then a regular arrow sprite. So it's not a totally black screen, but all I have is the mouse sprite.
I let it sit there for over an hour.I think it was hitting the disk but nothing happened. I tried rebooting and it did the same thing.I tried setting the "nomodeset" boot parameter, which had helped someone with a similar problem no change.I tried it in failsafe mode no change.
I'm installing OpenSuse 11.2 on some systems. Unfortunately the only mouse available is a serial mouse. Hence the installer doesn't recognize the mouse. And it is somewhat cumbersome using the TAB and ARROW keys to navigate the graphical installation.Does anyone know of a boot option I could use to get OpenSuse's installer to recognize a serial mouse ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a recent installation of openSUSE 11.4_64bit with KDE as desktop environment and like in all other linux distros my mouse middle button has a problem when clicked and dragged. The effect that it does when I click in the scroll button and move up and down is the same as when I rotate the button and it does nothing when I move to the side. Usually in programs like google earth (just an example) this is a very useful function as is used to set direction to navigate and angle and then this setting just does zoom when moved up/down and nothing else. It is also very annoying that every time that I click the middle button in a browser it goes back to the previous search in the default browser search engine. I already tried some setting in yast but no difference and forum search didn't retrieved a lot of info.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed the ATI Catalyst drivers for my Radeon HD3200, and upon reboot my mouse has disappeared. I can still use it, it's just that there's no pointer on the screen. In addition, moving windows and loading/scrolling any window is very, very slow.I also noticed there's no entry for the mouse in xorg.confI have run aticonfig --intial and aticonfig --initial -f, to no avail.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWas running out of room on / and set in Yast to delete /tmp on startup. Also deleted /var/log and /var/tmp while logged in. Rebooted and now mouse and keyboard (both USB) not working. Keyboard works on grub menu. Also works now in XP. Tried reconnecting (sync & plug unplug) different usb ports and nothing. Gave it a few minutes on startup and still nothing. Plugged in a PS2 keyboard and the lights just blink after startup and it will not work either.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSometimes, (the most when I'm making changes in something, like the pager, appearance, theme, etc), the screen freezes completely (but mouse is moving) and I have to restart the system.
If I try it again, it crashes at the same point.
I'm trying to create a portable flash-drive from the openSUSE-11.3-KDE-LiveCD-x86_64.iso-file. I can boot and run it, but everytime I use Yast to install something (language, ...) everything but the mouse just freezes, forcing me to restart the laptop.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have Open Suse 11.3. I normally use GNOME or KDE sessions. Yesterday I was just thought of trying other Desktop Environments. so I logged out to choose a different session. I tried LXDE and logged back out. After that I found "metacity" in the sessions list and tried it. But no desktop appeared. All I got is black screen a with the mouse pointer/cursor. I waited for quite some time but no desktop, panel, etc loaded or was visible.
I could not figure out how to log off so I hit the start button. After reboot the system automatically chose the same session (It always reuses the last used session) and I was in the same sticky situation. I tried starting in Safe mode as well but still I get the same black screen with just the mouse pointer.
I know that in previous versions of OpenSuSE one could be in front of the screen/KBD/mouse get things started, and log into another session and get things started there and run some apps, and so on. Now with OpenSuSE 11.x I see no means in which to do so. Is there another way? Point being is that I want to run one application as one user session and another application in yet another user session. Either one I can get to by switching user accounts at one screen/kbd/mouse. Or through VNC. No need to run something like xen or VMWare and incur additional overhead. (It is next on my list to try though.
