OpenSUSE :: ClamTK Only GUI Update?

Apr 19, 2010

I have opensuse 11.2 and when I run ClamTK and click on "help" then "check for updates", it only checks for GUI updates, not virus database updates. How can I make it check for virus database updates using ClamTK?, because I don't want to keep using sudo freshclam.By the way, does ClamAV offer real-time virus monitoring? Or does it only scan files?

Ubuntu :: Virus Scanning - Running ClamTk Sufficient

Feb 10, 2010

Would I need to scan the (root /) directory with sudo clamtk or would running clamtk be sufficient? Theoretically, if Ubuntu did get a virus; would this virus try to establish itself in / rather than /home? Also is it correct to presume that to scan the /home directory; running sudo clamtk wont do any more than just running clamtk?

Apr 10, 2010

I've installed ClamTK on my Kubuntu 9.10 installation, since it's connected to a Windows7 machine. When I ran a scan, it found 9 'viruses', but they are all within my home directory > Opera/mail/store and are either status Phishing.Heuristics.Email.SpoofedDomain OR HTML.Phishing.Bank-593.I recently synced my Hotmail into Opera, so I checked the corresponding dates in my Hotmail account and deleted the emails which I thought were related, however, after clearing down my Opera history, etc., re-booting my PC and re-scanning, the results are the same. How do I clear down these files?

OpenSUSE :: Disable Update Notifications / Notification Icon To Appear When An Update Is Available?

Mar 9, 2010

Is there a way to disable all popup notifications in openSUSE while still having it check for updates periodically. What I would like is for the notification icon to appear when an update is available but to not popup the notification message, or worse, show that dialog stating that some software sources were not available when I'm on the corporate network.

Also, is it possible to disable some updates like the recent KDE one? I right click it and there is an option to disable notification of an update but the menu item is disabled.

OpenSUSE :: Kupdate Applet - Make The Update Applet Ignore "recommended" Update?

Mar 24, 2010

My kupdate-applet tells me it has a recommended update: KDE 4.3.5 from the official opensuse update repo. Problem is I already have a more recent version of KDE 4.3.5 installed from the official opensuse KDE repo. In yast I pressed the "switch system packages" button for the KDE repo. How can I make the update applet ignore this "recommended" update? Note that the updateApplet itself is installed from the opensuse update repo. If I don't do this, then the older update applet from the KDE repo always has a recommended update for... Kupdate-applet.
