How can I make the security applet stop showing an update for firefox 3.5.9? I have a more recent version installed from mozilla repo: firefox 3.6. The mozilla repo already has a higher priority (95 instead of 99), so I don't know what to do.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm on OpenSuSE 11.1, and since I needed some features of Firefox 3.5.x I manually updated via 1-Click intall to 3.5.8. Now the Updater-Applet signals a security repo update for FF 3.0.18 which is no longer installed since replaced by the 3.5.8, and I see no way to get rid of the red warning sign; this is very bad since now I get no longer informed about other new updates to really installed packages ....

View 1 Replies View RelatedI originally tried Ubuntu 9.10 via a windows installation through Wubi. I had a VERY complex problem with a "Kernal Panic" due to an update through update manager and my system would not run proficiently. I wanted to know if that bug was exclusive to Wubi installations or does it also exist with this method of installation. I'm not going to update ANYTHING until I know for sure.

I havent used Linux in a long time. I dug up an old copy of Suse (version8.2), and installed it on an old 599MHZ PC. Ive been trying to update the various libraries to be able to get a updated version of Firefox installed. Is there any chance that this can work? I need to know if Im wasting my time and should just put winxp on this PC. Also, I cant get any repositories working. I assume the default ones I have on the Suse installation are bad and the ones for the later versions will not work.

Is there a way to disable all popup notifications in openSUSE while still having it check for updates periodically. What I would like is for the notification icon to appear when an update is available but to not popup the notification message, or worse, show that dialog stating that some software sources were not available when I'm on the corporate network.
Also, is it possible to disable some updates like the recent KDE one? I right click it and there is an option to disable notification of an update but the menu item is disabled.
i am a new opensuse user from vietnam. I installed opensuse 11.3 last week, and i have a serious problem with repo. I can't enter it . It's mean i can't update (by update applet), install codec, new software, .

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Lenovo ideapad s10e with 4 HDs to it. I have windows xp as first OS, ubuntu 10.04 as other. Here's the situation: I installed Ubuntu 10.04 using Wubi. I can dual-boot, no problem at all. After I logged in to Ubuntu, I downloaded a set of updates. The next day, there's a prompt for an ubuntu update (10.10?). So I installed the update for an hour or so,then a menu for this "grub" appeared. So I just clicked it.
After the update has been finished and my laptop rebooted, I cannot boot, instead this option appeared:

I tried restoring my windows xp bootloader using a recovery pack but it doesn't load. I also tried supergrub2 and it doesn't load, too (I used usb.)

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got an update that installed, and after a reboot I've got one core at 100%. The "you need to restart" icon in the notification tray said "glibc glibc glibc glibc nscd". Now that I look at it, It's switching between both cored. This behavior is consistent over multiple full reboots as well as kexec reboots.
Edit: Strange, just when I finished, the CPU load settled out and now everything is fine. I wonder what was going on. I'm rebooting right now to double check. Edit2: Yep, same issue 100% usage on one core. And it probably will level out soon. I'm not sure what could be causing this. I assume that glibc could be the issue.
I just installed BURG and the installationguide told med to run sudo update-burg. When I do that, I get this message: /etc/default/burg: 7: Syntax error: "(" unexpected
On another page, in the comments, I found out that deleting a line in the /etc/default/burg can fix it. But my problem is that I don't now which line.
My guess is about line number seven, but as I'm saying, I'm not sure.

My kupdate-applet tells me it has a recommended update: KDE 4.3.5 from the official opensuse update repo. Problem is I already have a more recent version of KDE 4.3.5 installed from the official opensuse KDE repo. In yast I pressed the "switch system packages" button for the KDE repo. How can I make the update applet ignore this "recommended" update? Note that the updateApplet itself is installed from the opensuse update repo. If I don't do this, then the older update applet from the KDE repo always has a recommended update for... Kupdate-applet.
