Jun 24, 2010I set alsamixer every time after login. I also did alsactl store but it doesn't work.
How to get rid of that?

Aug 17, 2011I was having trouble with using my T500's internal microphone, and I figured out that if I run alsamixer in terminal, and if I increase the level of "internal mic," then it works fine. Now the problem is that it seems periodically the setting reverts and I lose the mic volume and I have to re run alsamixer and do the setting again.
Is there any way I can set this setting in KDE, and preserve the setting once it is done?

Aug 7, 2009I have behringer UCA202 usb card, after plug to usb, it just works , I have only small problem with alsamixer, which still shows by default my integrated HDA Intel, I could switch it by F6 or by alsamixer -c 1no problem, but I expect that default card is now plugged "USB audio", so why alsamixer recognize default audio device as HDA intel and not a USB Audio ?anyone who has two or more sound cards with the same issue ?

Jul 21, 2010I upgraded my opensuse from 11.2 to 11.3, but after it, I have several problem with it.
Firstly: My graphic card is intel hd4500 and motherboard chip's is intel G41. After upgrading, I understood suse 11.3 didn't have sax2. at a result. I have problem with graphic card driver and consequently can't change screen resolution, therefore after each restart, my resolution automatically fix to 1600x1200 but I would like to set it in 1280x1024? What can I do to change it permanently?
Secondly: I installed vmware workstation 6.5 and after it, I see a message that say vmware need to Kernel Header 2.6.34-12- desktop. I install kernel-syms, kernel-source, gcc and make but doesn't run yet. What happen for it?

Jul 30, 2010I have installed freeswitch app from opensuse 11.2 repositories. App got broken during the process/setup.., I have removed it (yast) ignoring some of it's dependencies, also I have removed folder /opt/freeswitch manually. In Yast it shows that app is still installed.. when trying to remove it, there is an error, force remove also out puts an error. "whereis" command shows no file, I was also trying to force install it one more time but it fails. Is there a was to delete it permanently?

Jul 5, 2010I have compiled the proprietary nvidia drivers for 11.3. When I boot, even using the nomodeset boot option, the nouveau module still loads, causing gdm/X to fail. I am able to manually remove the modules with rmmod and restart gdm. Everything then works normally. I have added the line "blacklist nouveau" to both 50-blacklist.conf and 99-local.conf in /etc/modprobe.d

Sep 20, 2010I have an on mobo sound 'card' with an ordinary stereo jack that I use, but one of my graphics cards (Raedon) also has sound built into it. I don't use that, because the connector is some new thingie that I don't need or want.
Anyway, every other distro sees the two sound devices and automaticaly picks the right one and uses it with no trouble. (One distro, can't remember if it was fedora ... asked me to pick the device I wanted, but there was no trouble after that). It seems that with Slack, alsaconf, tho it lets me pick the right card, doesn't send that choice to alsamixer, so that the latter tries to unmute the wrong card.
'alsamixer -c 1'
fixes everything. This looks like a bug to me, but it also looks like it would be very easy to fix by just telling alsaconf to tell alsamixer which card to unmute, as seems to be done in other distros.

The problem is that everytime i restart the netbook the "Input so" switch automatically to "Front mic" instead to keep the setting "Int mic".
I tried to use sudo alsa ctl store but nothing change...Maybe there is another way for to set "input so" to "Int mic" by default.Im using Ubuntu 9.10 desktop 32 bit.

Jul 21, 2010since updating my laptop to 10.04, I can't get any sound out of my headphones. If I plug the jack in, the sound from the loudspeakers turns off, but the headphones stay quiet.
I have run alsamixer and in fact the volume for the headphones is stuck to zero, and it's not possible to increase it.

What I find funny, is that amixer reports that I don't have the capability of regulating the headphone volume:
Simple mixer control 'Headphone',0
Capabilities: pswitch penum
Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
Mono:
Front Left: Playback [on]

I have also used the AlsaUpgrade script to get the latest version of alsa, but it still doesn't work.

Jan 12, 2011sound on laptop running linux mint 9 isadora after restarting or if computer is idle. when the computer is idle for a while the sound will stop working even though it doesn't show muted. after restarting i have to run alsamixer and the master tab will be muted. i can unmute and it will work until the computer sits idle for a while.

I am using a headphone and when I listening to music I reduce speaker sounds and increase headphone and master sounds using "alsamiser -c 0" command in terminal.But at the end of each song, speaker sounds automatically increased.so I have to increase the headphone and master sound and reduce speaker sounds at beginning of every song.
When I restart the machine master,speaker and headphone sounds usualy become silence. Is there any why to save the alsamixer settings or any other way to correct this error.
