Apr 4, 2010This is pretty simple. I want to know if there is a way to save my settings in alsamixer. I hate having to have to access alsamixer everytime I boot my computer.

View 1 RepliesI was finally able to make the internal mic of my Vaio w12 work properly both sound recorder and in skype...I added this line in alsa-base.conf
Code:
options snd-hda-intel model=auto
The problem is that everytime i restart the netbook the "Input so" switch automatically to "Front mic" instead to keep the setting "Int mic".
I tried to use sudo alsa ctl store but nothing change...Maybe there is another way for to set "input so" to "Int mic" by default.Im using Ubuntu 9.10 desktop 32 bit.
Quote: CODE:
alsamixer
Raise my volume levels that start on 0)
alsactl store
alsactl: save_state:1530: Cannot open /etc/asound.state for writing: Read-Only file system...
so then I tried this.. [URL] Still a no go... Im on this oS [URL]
In karmic my settings are not retained, have to unmute in sound preferences or open alsamixer
and raise master and speaker in Terminal. What is fix to save settings using 9.10 with card below. code...
I change the audio channels to 6 in alsamixer by choosing my sound card and change the channels to '6ch'. But this setting is not preserved. I see that after a reboot the channels are again going back to 2ch. I have to manually change everytime to 6ch after each reboot. Is there a way to save the setting in alsamixer so that I will get 6ch everytime after reboot? I am not sure I have explained my problem in a way so that you can understand.

Each time I boot into Ubuntu I have to mute the External Speaker within Alsamixer GUI in order to get sound.I have made several attempts to save this setting but without success
Also read numerous threads and google search tips but no matter what I try it still results in having to open Alsamixer and manually mute the setting each time I launch Ubuntu.
I used ubuntu and recently I install mandriva in to my laptop. I am using a headphone and when I listening to music I reduce speaker sounds and increase headphone and master sounds using "alsamiser -c 0" command in terminal. But at the end of each song, speaker sounds automatically increased.so I have to increase the headphone and master sound and reduce speaker sounds at beginning of every song.
When I restart the machine master, speaker and headphone sounds usualy become silence. Is there any why to save the alsamixer settings or any other way to correct this error.
I use a Toshiba L300 Laptop and an Acer Aspire Netbook. After recent upgrades to Lucid I have to use the terminal to access alsamixer and turn up the sound on both when I boot-up. I have to do this every-time I boot up as it doesn't remember the change.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was reading a FAQ on Fedora and it states that there is a way that I can Log Out and most importantly for me "Save Settings". Well I selected my user name in the upper right hand corner and selected Quit and then Log Out but I was never asked to "Save Settings". Where can I find this "Save Settings" thing when I log out?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen i installed Ubuntu, everything worked fine, sound drivers installed automatically and volume was perfect. Then one day as I was talking to a friend on skype, I tried changing the output to speakers from my headset during the call and i didnt get any output. I tried changing a few settings, can't remember which ones exactly until I noticed someone had pulled the audio cable from the back of my PC. I replaced it but I started getting very very low sound.I found out about alsamixer and when I ran it, I found that the volume on that device was turned down, i turned it up and voila! sound back to normal. However, now when I reboot, my sound goes down again. I have tried deleting the asound.state file and running the save command, "sudo alsactl store 0" I think, as someone suggested, but no cigar.

I'm have an ATI Radeon 3450 HD graphics card and I believe I installed the mesa driver as the proprietary one simply won't install.
I have just installed KDE 4.4 on Fedora 12 in addition to GNOME. The default Display resolution is the highest available. I changed it to a lower resolution. However, when I reboot, the resolution switches back to the default setting.

I have three audio devices on my system;
1. a builtin (broken)
2. an HDMI on my graphics board
3. a USB audio device (i am using this one)
I normally shut off the system each night. Next day, I have to go through the pulse-audio mixer and re-set all of the audio settings. They are apparently not being saved. I've searched the forum for 'save audio' and similar terms but no joy.
I found that setting the video output module to opengl works very well. The only problem now is that vlc keeps changing my setting back to "default" rather that "opengl" or "x11".How do I force it to save my settings?

However, when restart the netbook all the settings are lost and I have to reconfigure each time. I've found threads saying to save settings in xorg.conf file, but apparently my system doesn't have this file.

But when I reboot, the brightness is back at 0.000.

By default nothing is ticked but I think there are some effects already enabled on my system.
I switched to lxde, love the speed, but it has one major glitch: it doesn't save the settings. the most annoying: the setting " enable tapping" of the touchpad isn't saved afer a reboot. I tried the following:
delete ~/config/lxde ~config/lxpanel ~/config/pcmanfmand the other solution i found in the forum:Opensuse 11.3 LXDE Keeps Changing My Wallpaper Back To Default
I'm using opensuse 11.3, added repo lxde, updated everythng. So far, nothing.
when I set my screen size (e.g., to 1680X1050) to anything other than the default, it won't save the change permanently. It means I have to change it each time I start OpenSuSE.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing a similar problem as this thread but I do not use the fusion-icon.[URL].. Compiz will not save custom settings when compiz-settings-manager is used. It will save setting thru "Simple-settings-manager". In addition, some settings will not take effect immediately. Example: The "viewport switcher" in "Desktop-wall". Color changes will not take effect unless I change the "preview scale".Quote:
