OpenSUSE :: Adjust Click Time Response

Mar 8, 2010

how do you adjust the response time of the taskbar menus, such as when you click on the start button on the bottom left of the desktop? My problem is that when I click them, it would delay for about 1 second before popping up the menu. But right-clicking on the desktop popped out fine without any delay though. Is this normal? Where do I adjust the settings for this? I have configured my ATI graphics card succesfully. Direct rendering, desktop animation and everything else is working fine btw.

OpenSUSE Install :: How To Adjust Safe Settings To Not Get Prompted With Every Single Click

Dec 1, 2009

I want to use secure file permissions within OpenSUSE, but having to provide the root password for every window I click is just a little too much.Wonder what the setting "paranoid" does then. And I also wonder how to adjust the safe settings to not get prompted with every single click.

OpenSUSE Install :: Adjust Notification Appearance Time?

Jan 13, 2011

where the time to display media notifications is stored? When I put a CD or DVD into the player slot, a popup window shows possible actions to take but these old eyes can't read it fast enough to get through the list. Is it possible to get it to display longer and if so how?

When I put an audio CD in the slot, the display says there are six (6) actions possible but I only have time enough to read the first 2 or 3.

Fedora :: Intermittent - Clicking Doesn't Get A Response On The First Click

For most actions on my system now it seems that clicking doesn't get a response on the first click. It can take 2 - 4 clicks at times for the system to react. Although I work primarily in my browser (Google Chrome), it does happen outside as well. I am running Gnome as the window manager.

Ubuntu :: No Mouse Click Response When Prompted With Keyring

Jun 2, 2010

I've been using both for awhile and can usually figure out my own problems, but I'm having issues with this one. I recently updated to the most recent version of Ubuntu. Before the update, everything was fine. But the first time I loaded my computer up after the restart for the update to come into effect I was hit with a problem. When the system loads up and logs in I'm met with a prompt asking me to "enter password for keyring 'default' to unlock." That is nothing new, I've always had that come up, but for some reason now when that appears I can't type in my password or click on anything whatsoever. I have control over my cursor and can move it by moving my mouse, but when attempting to click cancel, ok, or the password box or anything else there is no response. Because I can't get passed this prompt, I obviously cannot do anything on my computer.

Ubuntu :: Adjust Date And Time In 10.10?

Dec 5, 2010

If one right-clicks on the date and time tab in Ubuntu 10.10 desktop, then there is no obvious way to change the time. If one right-clicks and goes to help, then the explanation for changing time is as follows under the category 'usage':

2.3. To Adjust the System Date or Time.

To adjust the system date or time that the Clock applet displays, perform the following steps:

1. Right-click on the applet, then choose Adjust Date & Time.

2. Type the root password, then click OK.

3. The Clock applet starts the system tool that sets the system date and time. Use the tool to adjust the date and time.

The actual way to do this is as follows:

Right-click on the date and time applet. select preferences, and down at the bottom of the window that opens push the 'time settings' button.

Then you will be able to adjust that date and time.

If we adjust the clocks of two laptops to same time in HH:MM:SS using datefunction, in about half an hour, both the clock drift by about 10-15 min We are wondering how this is possible???We have compiled kernel 2.6.36.2 on both laptops and set the value of HZ to 1000. Then what is the reason for such a significant drift in short interval of time??Is this related to crystal oscillator or anything else?

I tried several mices, therefore the problem shouldn't be related to the mouse hardware.

Ubuntu :: Nautilus Simple Click Mounting Method At Boot-time?

Feb 16, 2011

I'm trying to find a way to auto-mount a couple of NTFS volumes at login (or even earlier if possible), not by editingfstab or running the (currently buggy for Maverick) ntfs-config tool, but by simulating the way that Nautilus mounts volumes when you click or double click on one. The reasons for this are not important(just to make things a little mysterious). So, I checked the output of syslog when I click on an unmounted volume in Nautilus. It seems very useful, but I can't make much out of it. So I need your help I need to make something like a script to do this thing at startup.

OpenSUSE :: Gnome Has No Response To Any Operation?

Nov 4, 2010

In the system monitor it states:Release 11.2 Kernel Linux 2.6.31.5 -0.1 -desktop

GNOME 2.28.0Last week when I rebooted my machine, I suddenly found my machine had no response to any click or typing. When the cursor move to any icons, they can be highlighted, but when I click them, no response at all. The weird thing is almost every time after I reboot the computer, it can work for a few minutes, then stop working. But if I press Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, it can be log out.

I think there must be something wrong with my GNOME, 'cause everything seems working fine when I login IceWM. may be recover the .config file in my home directory. But I don't have this file in my home directory.

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Dual Monitor Slow Response?

Jul 22, 2010

I have opensuse 11.3 (64 bit) with nvidia 8400GS (256 MB ram). The system is a core 2 T7500 with 4GB Ram. I have installed nvidia drives (through nvidia's .run file, versison 256.35)

1) When i connect an external monitor (1440x900) and use separate x-screen+ xinerama (laptop has 1280x800), desktop response is really slow. Moving windows, switch tabs etc make desktop (kde) barely useful. Especially if i open a large txt file it is almost impossible to scroll through this file.

xorg file (see attached file) is been created by nvidia-settings.

One minor solution I found is to use 16 bit (instead of 24bit) color. This makes everything better, but still not fast enough. I do not use desktop effects.

An important note: This happens only after some period of time. After reboot everything seems to be ok for some time, but suddenly something changes and I have slow response.

I do not have the same problem under windows.

2) How can i specify that laptop's screen be the default, so it can have the taskbar?

3) When i disconnect the external monitor and restart x, then the laptop screen goes to 1024x768 and not to 1280x800. I have to create another xorg.conf and restart x. How can I make just one xorg file, and the system automatically adjust resolutions regarding if i have one or dual monitors?

Code:
# nvidia-settings: X configuration file generated by nvidia-settings
# nvidia-settings: version 256.35 (buildmeister@builder97.nvidia.com) Wed Jun 16 19:14:45 PDT 2010

OpenSUSE Install :: How To Adjust The Screen Resolution

Jul 17, 2010

Suffering from the expected error in detecting my video properly when installed 11.3.Have intel 915G onboard video. Up until 11.1 Opensuse struggled with loading this correctly. in 11.1 & 11.2 all was well. A couple of minor tweaks in sax2 and it worked perfectly. Now hat sax2 has gone I'm not sure how to make these minor tweaks.

My problem is I have been forced to a screen resolution of 1024X768 VGA Following the readme file adding nomodeset at boot fixes the problem but of course forces me back to an old video driver with pretty poor performance. Is there any way I can change the screen resolution and set the correct monitor - any GUI replacement for sax2? Krandrtray will only let me set a max res of 1024x768. I need to set res to 1280x1024
