I'm using KeePass 2.10 (with mono) and I am able to copy a password from KeePass (Ctrl+C) and paste into ALL applications except for the GNOME Terminal. When I copy something, I am not able to paste into the terminal, and find the Paste menu item in the edit menu disabled. However, if I paste into another application and cut from there, I can paste into the terminal.
(if it is a bug) which project I should report a bug to (gnome or KeePass?).
I have a linux box set up as a multi-purpose server for my home with three Windows client PC's. The linux box is based on a slightly modified Slackware 9.0 distribution using Linux 2.4.20 and an unfortinately old, slow AMD processor with a miserable 512Kb RAM. The linux box serves the CIFS file system to the Windows boxes, runs the SQUID HTTP proxy, the Apache web server, a print server, does masquerading, mail serving and a very effective firewall using iptables.
This system, although slow, has run perfectly for several years.Let me say that again - This system works perfectly.I had decided that now is the time to upgrade the hardware, so I bought a Gigabyte LGA775 motherboard which has two 1Gb network interfaces on it, an ASUS 256Mb PCI-E display card, 2Gb of DDR3 RAM, an Intel Core2-Quad processor and a bunch of 500Gb SATA drives to set up a RAID5 array (but I intend that the system boot off one of several 40Gb PATA drives I have).I set up the processor, motherboard, display card, RAM, a SATA DVD Drive and a 40Gb PATA hard disk in a "breadboard" layout and installed distro 13.1, being careful to set up the static IP for the local network, dhcpcd to get an IP address from the cable modem (my internet connection) and to enable ip_forward in the network configuration.
Then I installed a script invoked by /etc/rc.d/rc.local which installed all the SAME iptables rules as my old Linux box. There was one minor glitch when I had to change 8 occurrences of "-d ! $LOCAL_NET to" "! --destination $LOCAL_NET" but that was no problem. I also set up /etc/resolv.conf, /etc/hosts , the BIND server files etc. etc. exactly as in the old box.
I am able to ping mirror.aarnet.edu.au (this is at the heart of Australia's internet hub network - if it's down the whole bloody thing is down) and have the system find the correct IP from the designated nameservers and contact that server with a return trip time of 35ms. I am able to run a telnet session from one of the Windows boxes and edit files on the Linux server. So both network interfaces work and I've got them the right way around.I am able to run FTP on one of the Windows boxes and connect through to mirror.aarnet.edu.au, although it seems to hang when I try a DIR (but then so does the old linux system).
Hi. I'm running the 64 bit OpenSuse 11.2 distro with Firefox 3.5.7 and the Novell mono plugin installed but still can't watch the olympics coverage on CTV.
Is there something else I also need to install?
I've tried ubuntu, kubuntu, fedora and linux mint. all 64 bit versions. I've also tried to suspend through applications like acpitool. But nothing works. When I click on Suspend, the screen goes blank but the computer is still running. The wireless network adaptor gets disabled for a second and then comes back on. All I have to do is press a key and I get the unlock screen prompt. Basically, suspend works like 'Lock Screen'. I have a HP Pavillion laptop. Core 2 Duo @ 2 GHz and 4 GB RAM.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI would like to see when installing ubuntu a choice for users to choose what they want installed on their system or not. I know for a fact that there are some like myself that does not want mono runtime files or mono apps on their linux box and when we try to uninstall all the files or apps that link with mono ends up breaking the linux box.
My question is why can't ubuntu make a distro of ubuntu that offers to users the files and apps for use with mono and a choice for those users to install ubuntu with out the mono files or apps. There are somne of us that think mono is as bad as .net and some of us want a linux box that runs linux and not window files or apps unless they can be written as pure linux code and not C# crap. I feel that C or C++ is the real way to write linux code and anything written in C# is windows and always will be windows. If they want to put more windows stuff on ubuntu, then they shouldn't be calling it linux..
i had Mandriva few days ago (and other distros befor that!) and just moved to openSUSE
i use a program called "UltraSurf" (to bypass Internet filtering in Iran) and this program doesn't work with wine in openSUSE!i reinstalled wine and tried different versions but when i click on my program nothing happens! (other windows programs work fine!)
I have set the konsole font to liberation mono, but I'm reasonably sure that the font that konsole is actually using is not liberation mono. It looks very different from the font used by xterm, emacs, gnome-terminal, etc.
Is there some font mapping hidden away somewhere that is overriding my choice?
I would like to know if anyone has run more than one version of mono concurrently. I want to host a Battlefield 2 server with bf2ccd that requires mono 1.1.12. CentOS 5.3 repos provide mono 1.2.4 which is neither new enough nor old enough to support bf2ccd. I have considered compiling a newer version or an older version to accommodate this but I think that the only fully supported version is the 1.1.12 and I want to have the newer mono for other projects. I have used Slackware exclusively up to now and am not familiar with CentOS yet so I would like to avoid compiling if I can. The server is an unmanaged dedicated server so I'm not certain of all of the details. AFAIK it is a standard CentOS 5.3 install.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, I have compiled a C# program on Linux using MonoDevelop. When I try to execute the resulting binary, my system tries and fails to run it as a windows executable, with wine. Wine gives me the following message:
$ ~/bin/MyMonoApp
wine: Install the Windows version of Mono to run .NET executables
~/bin/MyMonoApp: command not found
I can only convince it to run by explicitly calling mono:
$ mono ~/bin/MyMonoApp
So, how can I make this the default, so I don't have to explicitly call mono every time?
I run the password manager KeePass2 with the following starter:
Code:
mono /opt/keepass2-mono/KeePass.exe /home/XXXXXXX/KeePass.kdbx
While the program runs fine, it does not select the database automatically (last argument). This used to work with KeePassX. Nor does KeePass2 remember the recently opened files (the menu remains empty).
My system: Ubuntu Natty 32bit, KeePass 2.15
PS: I have to use KeePass2 as I need to share the database with other OS where KeePass1 is not supported. And would love to see ported KeePass2 to linux without mono. Keepass2 also looks worse than KeePassX IMO.
I successfully installed OpenSUSE on a 4gb pen drive using the instructions contained within this portal. However, for the life of me I can't figure out why the persistent feature doesn't work.
Here's my partition table map:
Disk /dev/sda: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9729 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

I upgraded to OpenSuse 11.2 and just about the only thing that doesn't work is my wireless internet. From my research, I should be using the iwl4965 or iwlwifi driver; however my system seems to be running iwlagn. I have no idea how to switch it as neither of the correct drivers can be found in my yast, and I've failed to find any information about this on the IntelŪ Wireless WiFi Link drivers for Linux* website.

As stated, NO USB functions, not at all, the light on the mouse is on, but it does not move on screen, the PS2 keyboard does not function either. Nothing that would allow you to install it, works at all. I am absolutely shocked not one single person on here has mentioned this.
The last time I tried OpenSuse was version 10, it installed without issue, I noted the installer as the nicest one in the Linux world I had seen to date, only to be utterly let down by this USB fumble.I have Legacy USB support, Legacy Keyboard and Legacy Mouse USB support on, that isn't the issue, and this didn't happen with 10 on the same system.
Are there any security risks I should be aware of if I have Mono installed?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've created the GParted LiveUSB from what I found on the Ubuntu forum. Apparently the instructions given on GParted website doesn't work.
I essentially copied the necessary gparted files to my USB and then made it bootable using syslinux.
I've set the boot sequence properly to boot from my USB but it still doesn't do anything and just brings up the screen where I select my OSs (I have a dual-boot system with WinXP).
I don't have access to a CD-drive so will have to use the USB. Is there a different way to make the LiveUSB?

I am 100% sure I am putting in the right password. I even did that ^ code from my laptop, the one I am ssh'ing into, but it still will not accept my password. I even tried root@ instead of matt@..
When I clicked the shutdown button through the menu, the computer seem to do not respond. And the command line works well.

I completely re-installed SuSE from network today, so it's the newest version. The drive always worked fine in SuSE 9.x and also booting the Network Setup CD worked properly.
May there be missing packages? What do I have to check next?
