Fedora :: Broadcom WLAN Wireless Driver Fedora Core 11
Aug 26, 2009Okay I posted about this a while ago, and i got my wired network to work, but now i need my wireless card driver to work. I have been doing research and I found something called ndiswrapper which drivers from windows working in linux. I typed in lspci in the terminal and it gave me my specs of my wireless card which is a:
-Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03)
-Some people said there is no original driver for this card, so you need to use ndiswrapper, I was wondering does anybody know what this is, how do i use this, and help me out to get my wireless card going. If you give me instructions, please be really specific as I am really new and still getting the hang of commands.

Fedora Installation :: Upgrading From Core 4 To Core 10?
May 20, 2009I have created a virtual machine of a system running Fedora Core 4 and I need to upgrade it to Fedora Core 10. Based on what I have read, it iis possible so I started theupgrade process. I get an error message saying that /dev/hda6 (my root paritition does not exist) even though it does.
Does the installer need to read a label from /etc/fstab? I executed tune2fs -L / /dev/hda6 amd ,and added LABEL=/ for the corresponding entry for fstab. but the FEDORA CORE 10 is still giving the same problems for the installation process. Should I upgrade to an intermediate verson like Fedora Core 7 first?

The System is a BattleNetX and a Touch-Display (BA73-A) from the concern named Wincore Nixdorf (Germany). Currently, I try to install the driver for the Touchpanel on Fedora Core (12 I hope, but it can [edit: i mean can not] be important because the driver is older than FC12 ). Because, I am not the Linux adept, I work contiguous on the manual[1]. Now, I have a problem by a step. I must compile a adjust driver for the Kernel. But 'make' give me everytime a error. Sep 27, 2010I set up my home server like 3 year ago on a Fedora core 4, I am running a NAT, firewall and FTP very smoothly on it. In the past 3 years, it has been doing perfectly without any modification/ upgrade. But recently, I just realized I might need a VPN server on it, but the recent release of OpenVPN doesn't support Fedora core 4 anymore, therefore I suddenly want to make an upgrade. I've read the articles/ manual for Fedora 13, yet I do not find any suggestion on how to upgrade to 13 from core 4.
how can I do an upgrade in the easiest manner as I don't want the server cease working too long (I need its NAT for my network).

Fedora Installation :: Cannot Install Core 10 Monitor Out Of Range?
Jan 15, 2009I cannot install Fedora core 10. It boots up and it gets to the Fedora 10 loading screen. After that it complains my monitor is out of Range and that's as far as I can go. I had originally thought I could get to some text install mode, but I don't make it far enough to do that.

Aug 12, 2009I just got an update that installed, and after a reboot I've got one core at 100%. The "you need to restart" icon in the notification tray said "glibc glibc glibc glibc nscd". Now that I look at it, It's switching between both cored. This behavior is consistent over multiple full reboots as well as kexec reboots.
Edit: Strange, just when I finished, the CPU load settled out and now everything is fine. I wonder what was going on. I'm rebooting right now to double check. Edit2: Yep, same issue 100% usage on one core. And it probably will level out soon. I'm not sure what could be causing this. I assume that glibc could be the issue.

Jun 13, 2009I've been using Linux (Fedora) since 2005 (when I happily abandoned Windows) and loved every minute of it. No installation or other unresolvable problems. But now, I am totally stuck. A month ago, they just gave me a new desktop in the office: Dell Optiplex 960 with the Intel Core 2 Duo vPro chip. So I waited for Fedora 11 to come out, burned the x86-64 Install Media on a DVD, repartitioned the hard drive like I always do on new Windoze machines, and began installing. The install process gets to this announcement and stops:
mounting /tmp as tmpfs... done Then, after a 5-minute wait, if I push the power button on the computer for a hard reboot, then it says:
running install running /sbin/loader and then stalls for good. Then all I can do is hard-reboot again.
So, out of curiosity (and for other reasons), I tried booting the machine from other linux disks: Knoppix, and SystemRescue (www.sysresccd.org). They all stall at different points. The funny thing is that both Fedora 11 x86-64 and SystemRescue happily boot on my personal one-year-old Lenovo T61 Intel Centrino Duo VPro laptop.
I get a feeling that somehow the Intel Core 2 Duo vPro is causing the problem. I also think that there is got to be someone else out there who either had this problem, or was able to install F11 on similar Dell box. Google search did not produce actionalbe answers for me.

Ubuntu :: Update Of Libc And Xorg Core Kills Ati Hardware Driver
May 26, 2010I got the weekly updates; libc files and an xorg core file from memory. Thinking now the xorg core possibly rewrote my xorg.conf!seems to have killed the restricted ATI driver. I can boot from kernel 2.6.24.26 but 27, the one I did the updates, after the Ubuntu progress bar I get a black screen. Booting from 26 I get the low resolution graphics guff and need to set it manually each time. Go to Sys->Admin->Hardware Drivers, and sure enough, the ATI driver is 'Not in Use'. Switch it on, try booting into 27, black screen.
Phew, back to 26, change to manual config, get back in, see ATI driver is off again, leave it off and leave manual graphics resolution and config, boot back into 27, everything is stretched and out of proportion!! But I can at least get in. Switch ATI driver on in there, reboot into 27, black screen.This is pretty urgent as my wife is end of semester uni stuff and needs this machine. Worse, so am I and have even more on the plate (but at least have a computer!),
